About this cottage rental
The double sliding glass doors in the great room allow the feeling of bringing the outside in. Nestled in the pines, this setting offers the peace and quiet of being away from it all, yet it is just a half mile from Rt. 102. Relax and enjoy your natural surroundings, as you see the deer pass by or the sound of the birds on the Sound. As you enter the cottage, you will be impressed with the finely appointed upgrades made by the new owners. The first floor contains a master with a comfortable queen size bed, adjacent to a full bath, a second bedroom with two twin size beds, and a laundry. Climb the stairs to the loft bedroom with one twin bed that overlooks the cathedral ceiling and the great room. A step up from the loft, you will find a third private bedroom with two twin beds and half bath. The tastefully furnished great room provides
adequate seating for guests to converse, read, watch a movie or to relax in front of the fire place, after a day on the trails. Outdoor living is max from Hyland Cottage, conveniently located across from swimming and kayaking on Echo Lake, or climbing the trails of Beech and Acadia Mountains, nearby. With Cadillac Mountain and the surrounding carriage trails just minutes away, you will have easy access to hiking, biking and experiencing the magnitude of Acadia. Enjoy fine dining in nearby Southwest Harbor and Bar Harbor, or delight in the experience of a casual lobster feast! Because words cannot describe the beauty that surrounds Hall Quarry, we urge you to come and experience Acadia National Park and its breathtaking sights, for yourself! (Turnover day is Saturday)

Great property. Centrally located. Nice view.

We loved everything about Hyland cottage -- it was rustic, charming, clean, with a lovely deck and view. Location for us was perfect -- away from the crowds but close enough to everything we wanted. Communication with host went smoothly. We hope to return!

This cabin surpassed our expectations. It is so clean and so cozy. We were able to make our breakfast in a kitchen that had everything we needed. Then we took off to hike and explore a different part of Acadia each day. We loved our time on the porch and gathered in the living space. It easily fit the five adults. What a beautiful place!

Nice deck overlooking Somes Sound with a grill, outdoor table and Adirondack chairs. Well equipped galley kitchen, close to Ikes Point and Acadia Mt. Clean and comfortable with TV, books and games. Highly recommend for family or possibly couples/friends.

There were no disappointments at Hyland Cottage. The place was clean and comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped, and you can’t beat the location. It was situated in the woods, off of the busy road and on a part of the island that was less crowded. Being close to Echo Lake was perfect for families with the beach and swimming easily accessible. We enjoyed hiking Acadia mountain and jumping in the lake from Echo ledges.
A big thanks to Carl for being responsive and giving some local food and recreational recommendations!

Nice house, easy to get to but off of the road. Nice view through the trees of the water.

The property was as described. It was clean, linens smelled freshly washed, and the kitchen was fully stocked. The location was perfect for us (family of 2 adults and 2 teenagers) on a quiet road surrounded by woods. There was a view of the Sound. There are many trails nearby, but I would not recommend walking on the roads around the property (no shoulders, cars speeding by). It is a short drive to all of the attractions and the park. We would definitely stay here again.

Everything about our stay was perfect. Check in was easy. The cottage is adorable, clean, and clearly well-maintained. The views were amazing and the solitude was so relaxing. We had everything we needed for a wonderful getaway to Acadia. One of the best places we’ve ever stayed on VRBO. We would definitely try to stay here again if in the area.

A quaint cottage with everything anyone could need while away not to mention very aesthetically pleasing. The house was all we needed and more. It was the cleanest rental - just spotless - cleanest one we have been in and I say that as experienced short term renters who have stayed in many diff places. Carl was such a joy to communicate with and always available when needed. Don't hesitate to book this gem for your trip to Acadia!

6, 55+ women arrived to do some serious hiking. Check- mission accomplished!
The place is so incredibly charming and has a well stocked kitchen. A great indoor fireplace and plenty of chairs inside and out. Great full kitchen table for meals and games. Location is away from busy Bar Harbor. Plenty of beds and not having to share a bed was great. Washer and dryer to use for after hiking trips was a bounce. Only thing i would improve on was some updated pillows. The place was just lovely!! We will be back for sure!

We had a wonderful several days at Hyland Cottage. The location was ideal for us to get a true Maine experience. It was very clean and the beds were comfortable. The view was great and we saw several animals during our stay. We would definitely stay here if we come back to the area.

My family absolutely loved staying in Hyland Cottage! The rooms were set up perfect for our family of 6 (2 adults and kids ages ranged 2-8). The cottage is located very close to Echo Lake Beach and Southwest Harbor. It has a beautiful view of Somme Sound and a gorgeous large deck! We didn't spend a lot time in the cottage because we were out exploring, but it was a wonderful place to come back to after a busy day. It was VERY well stocked with anything that you can possibly need! Including rarely found items, such as dishwasher pods, Shout stain remover, plastic wrap, and so much more! The only thing that we had a hard time with is not having air conditioning because it was really warm when we were there, but I think that's normal for Maine! We are from the south so are used to air conditioning. The windows did have screens so we could open them and fans were provided to help air out the place since the attic got so hot during the day! The host was also very responsive and messaged to check in while we were there. Would definitely stay here again!

This cabin worked well for our family of seven. We liked the location and the ease of getting to different parts of Acadia as well as proximity to Bar Harbor. It had its quirks and own personality but we weren’t looking for luxury accommodation.

We had another great stay at Hyland. Looking forward to another summer visit next year.

The location was central to many trails and things to do. We had rain most of the week, but could still enjoy the beautiful view from the dining area while playing games. We did notice noise carries within the house. The kitchen had everything we needed for cooking. The laundry area was very helpful for a rainy week. The deck is lovely though we had little time to enjoy it. Carl was very responsive when we had questions. We enjoyed the location very much!

This cottage was wonderful! It was furnished with everything we needed and more! Internet was good too! We went to Acadia each day - super close and yet far enough away to not be part of the crowds! Loved having a nice place to come back to each evening. Can't say enough of how relaxing this trip was - and yet we were super busy each day! It was a once in a lifetime trip - since we live so far away - but I'm sure glad we chose this spot to stay each day! Felt like a piece of heaven! Thank you for sharing it with us!!

Just returned from a wonderful stay at this adorable cabin in the woods. It's in a quiet location with a beautiful view of the water. You're 10-20 minutes to Acadia hiking and 15-20 minutes to Bar Harbor. The cabin is well stocked...hand soap, laundry detergent, dishwasher detergent, TP, paper towels, trash bags, blankets, pillows, every tool you need to cook, etc. We spent every night around the wood burning fireplace. There's a TV with cable and wifi as well. Our kids loved the upstairs bedroom and loft. The cabin is nicely decorated and cozy. Carl is an amazing host and responded quickly when we had a question. If we come back to Acadia, this will be at the top of our list...highly recommend!

What a little slice of heaven! The cabin was incredibly clean and comfortable. It had everything we needed and more (pillows, blankets, candles, coffee, etc.). We loved lighting a fire in the fireplace each evening. The views were incredible, and it was a very easy trip into Acadia. It was a wonderful location to call home while exploring the area. Our boys loved the games/activities/books. Very well-appointed with nice linens. We didn't cook, but the kitchen seemed well-stocked. Would definitely stay here again!

The cabin was extremely clean and very well equipped with everything you would need. They have a Keurig and they included Kcups as well. This cabin is in a great location and close to everything. Very short drive to Acadia and Bar Harbor. There is 1 shower however we managed to make it work especially with 4 women. The outside deck was fantastic for morning coffee. Thank you for the wonderful stay. Book this cabin you will love it!!

Hyland Cottage was comfortable and peaceful. It had a beautiful view, was well stocked, was clean and organized, and central to many Acadia hikes. It was a perfect place to make home on vacation for our family with young children!

If you are looking for a wood-lined cottage with plenty of comfortable seating inside and out, this one is well-suited for up to 6 adults. Close to Acadia's "quietside" hiking trails,
swimming at Echo Lake, and Southwest Harbor. Many thanks to the hosts for a relaxing stay near one of America's finest national parks.

This was the perfect cabin for an adventure in Acadia. Beautiful view, private wooded location, close to great hikes, and a peaceful deck for starting and ending the day. We loved it!

This home was the perfect spot for our vacation week. The location was just what we wanted, close to everything, but tucked away. Most days we did something in Acadia NP in the morning, came back to the cottage for lunch and to relax, and went out exploring again in the afternoon. There were good food options in Southwest Harbor and several good hikes and destinations on the "quiet side" too. The house was really well-equipped and clean with everything we needed in the kitchen and elsewhere. It's an older home that's been recently redone and was really comfortable for two adults and two kids (ages 10 and 12). We would love to come back again some time!

The cabin on Hall Quarry was just perfect for our family. The 9 & 12 loved the loft, 22 had her own room downstairs. Games in the evening, wine on the porch, coffee curled up with a blanket overlooking Somme’s sound. We enjoyed the hikes just down the road from the cabin at Acadia the most. Went to Long Pond at dusk 1 night to hear the loons on a recommendation of 1 of the park workers. We loved our week there and hated to leave! Thank you so much for sharing your cabin and the recommendations for food and hikes with us!

We enjoyed our stay at the cottage. It had a lot to offer for a "Nestled in the Woods" vacation and more. We hope to return back soon.

I almost hate to review this property because I want to keep how wonderful it is a secret! The property is perfectly situated mid-island, and most importantly- off the beaten path. It is close to Echo Lake and SW harbor. It is about 20 minutes to Bass Harbor and Bar Harbor. There is laundry, towels, and a kitchen with all the plates and cups you could want. We look forward to making this a yearly stop!
