Maria is a welcoming and very helpful host. The accommodation is a sprawling and spacious two bedroom ground floor apartment with immediate access to the Praca do Republica. It is very well equipped. There is a very pleasant, private garden, which was a great place to relax in the evening. A great balance between cosy and comfortable. There were lots of mosquitoes in the area at the time of our visit but Maria guided us to ways to minimize them. There is free parking nearby.

Maria was a excellent hostess. She was extremely helpful with places to go and eat. We loved the location of the house in the town center. The house was quite charming and the garden was beautiful.
There was some construction close to the house that was a bit loud at times. We also had some mosquitos in the house that were a bit irritating at times

Despite its location on a well traveled street the lack of noise once inside the flat was amazing. Clean flat with a lovely private garden. The host, Maria is helpful, and super easy to work with.

Great, walkable location, easy check in, and comfortable accommodations. Very kind hostess, full of recommendations, easy to get a hold of, and quick to respond to any concerns or inquiries. Bonus: Cute turtles in the garden :)

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Maria’s traditional house with its quirks and delightful garden and patio. Very spacious with nice modern bathroom. The bedroom looking out to the patio is wonderful- you feel like you are sleeping in the garden. Maria is very easy to contact as she lives upstairs and her shop is next door. She is a great host. We would stay again in this lovely traditional house- very authentic experience and excellent location in Tavira.

The location could not be better, very close to the central square on a very pretty street. We loved the garden area and living area off the garden of this rental. The garden smelled so lovely. The place was very clean, a nice bathroom. We recommend this rental but suggest you check with the owner about construction. They are building next door and renovating part of the building where this property is.

This property is very well placed for what Tavira offers. The property and its owner are one of a kind. Be prepared for something a little different and non N. American. Maria is kind and helpful but hard to understand. I particularly enjoyed the garden/patio.

Maria's flat is a real find!
By sheer luck we found this pearl, situated in the very heart of beautiful Tavira - and it has a garden!
Maria is lovely, lively and helpful, and Asger and I will - without doubt - be staying there the next times we go to Tavira. Thanks for renting out your place, Maria!

Take Time to visit Tavira
We really enjoyed our stay here. The property is centrally located downtown and is in a quiet location. We loved the old” bones” of this house and it’s tropical garden. Maria, our host, was warm and welcoming. We'll be back for sure.

Great location
What a charming location only a 10 minute walk from the train station. It was in central Tavira, walking distance to everything. The garden was so beautiful and we enjoyed her turtle "Timmy" who would come for visits. Maria was so easy to work with and took care of all our needs.

Tavira Paradise!
Maria's place in Tavira is an oasis off a busy street. Everything is right outside the door, while the tranquil courtyard makes it seem you're in the middle of nowhere. Great restaurants and shopping. We will definitely request to stay here on our next visit.

This is a very unique private home with garden in the middle of downtown Tavira. The feel is old world Portuguese updated to ( mostly) modern standards. It is not pristine with every amenity but certainly makes up for it with lots of charm, space and privacy. We especially loved the garden with large table -and the 2 very friendly turtles. Maria was very helpful and good with communication. We had a great stay here and would love to come back.

Apartment mit Flair im Herzen von Tavira
Sehr schönes Apartment in historischem Haus.

Great stay in Tavira
We had a great time at Maria's place in Tavira! The house is really charming, clean and well equipped, right in the center of the town and close to all restaurants. The small garden is lovely! And Maria is the most amazing host you can encounter, discreet and yet helpful, available whenever you need her. Really recommended!

Muito bom!
A casa é fantástica para uma Familia com crianças! O jardim... a Tartaruga!
A casa estava bem limpa!
O sítio é bastante central e perto de tudo!
Provavelmente para o ano voltamos!
Obrigada Maria

Picturesque house, with lots of character, in need for maintenance
On the positive side it is a very pittoresk house, with lots of character, in the middle of the center of Tavira, with lots of nice restaurant in the close neighborhood. The owner was very helpful, the city very beautifull. On the downside we found the bathroom and bedroom rather small, e.g. suitcases had to be left in the living room. The house and the garden both really need maintenance.
there is only one hanging closet en could not be left in the bedroom.
had to be left elsewhere.

Lovely property in a perfect location
I had a few questions prior to booking and Maria replied promptly. She was extremely helpful and arranged an airport pickup for us from Pedro..... Her husband which was really helpful. The rental,is the downstairs if her house with a lovely double bedroom and a smal bedroom with bunk beds. There us a lovely garden, which is a little overgrown but a spacious patio with a good sized table, chairs and comfortable seat pads. Vines grow across the shading trellis and we picked grapes for breakfast! Two tortoises kept us company in the evening when they strolled down the garden path for watermelon and grapes. The kitchen is well equipped and the house has an abundance of lovely period features. The beds were comfortable. We wanted for nothing apart from a map of the town. We wanted bread and milk and essential supplies on arrival and struggled to find a food shop or supermarket. But it is just a few steps to the local cafes and bars as well as the river front. The ferry is a 5 minute walk and about ten minutes to the railway station with a very good coffee shop in the way. A map would have been useful and I mentioned this to Maria. She said she would ensure there was one available for future guests. The tourist information office is just around the corner, we later discovered! There was no air conditioning but there are electric fans everywhere and the house is pretty well shaded. Maria called in on our second or third day to welcome us and provide some more information along with a lively and amusing chat. Restaurants and tapas bars are everywhere and they are really good. Try the fish and fruit/ veg market at the top of the town past the ferry station. The stall holders were so helpful. Mia tapas bar was excellent... modern tapas and a small menu but very good. Eat sword fish and tuna, great bread and Portuguese tarts and buy very good quality wine at a ridiculously cheap price at Lidl next to the railway station. We can't wait to return to this great property and have recommended it and our hosts, to friends in UK. Once in Tavira you don't need a car as the railway station is nearby and you can walk around the sights or take a ferry to the vast stretch of local beaches.
