About this house rental
SEA & RIVER HOUSE is an attractive, welcoming home sitting 120 feet above the ocean and one mile from the Navarro River inlet. We are located 130 miles north of San Francisco and 10 miles south of Mendocino and close to Anderson Valley's many wineries. Come see us!
To the south of the house is a view of magical Brokeback Cove and beyond to the Point Arena lighthouse which flashes at night. North a mile, where the Navarro River (known for steelhead fishing) meets the ocean, is an extensive sand beach to explore and throw a frisbee or build a driftwood fort. Swimming "holes" ( a favorite of our kids) can be found at several points along the Navarro River in the redwood forest.
The house offers four bedrooms (2 queen beds, one full, 2 twins ), a game room with futon, wood burning stove fireplace and outside chiminea, hot tub, two bathrooms,, and expansive decks on two levels. Six people are easily accomodated. It affords wonderful space for people to gather or to separate and find a quiet spot to read or watch hummingbirds come to a feeder. Kids of all ages can congregate in the lower level game room to play foosball, throw darts or watch a movie on the wall mounted large screen TV. Moving outside to the lower level deck, they can soak in the large hot tub, roast marshmallows in the chiminea or sit watching the hypnotic spinning of a copper windmill set in the ocean side yard. Two bedrooms and the game room have streaming (Netflix and Amazon Prime and local TV) TV plus a stock of movie dvds At night the star display is amazing for those from light polluted cities.
Living Areas: The interior of the upper level of the house is redwood.. The upper level includes the dining room. living room, kitchen, three bedrooms (one a "bunk room") and full bath. The lower level, reached by a stunning spiral staircase, contains the game room and 4th bedroom and 2nd bathroom. Most people receive cell phone service.
The kitchen is fully equipped with a new gas stove, new set of pots and pans, a good stock of cooking utensils, and Corelle dishware. On the upper deck is a large Weber for outside grilling. The kitchen sink back splash is glass tiled and the view out the kitchen door is to the ocean. Even dish washing gets better.
The living room has a couch and two chairs with reading lamps and centers around the wood burning fireplace. A small bench doubles as a coffee table or added seating, There is a small but mighty sound system. A ceiling fan cools the room at the end of warm days
The dining area over looks the cove and seats six at an oval table. It is also a great spot to play board games. There is additional outdoor dining (except in winter months) for 4 at an outdoor table set on the upper deck. The lower deck has a 2 person bistro table where you can sip coffee or wine or have a private dinner for two. Table is stored in winter.
Bedrooms: Every queen or double bed is covered with a featherbed or foam topper and then a beautiful quilt. The upper level master bedroom has a ceiling fan. The lower bedroom boasts a canopy bed and vintage oil seascape paintings. Sliding doors open to the lower deck with large flower planters, hot tub etc. Bookcases in each room offer good reads for all tastes. Games are stocked in the "bunk room."
Grounds: In the back (Hwy. 1 side) of the house is a rough picnic table and view of the mountains. In the front (ocean side) is an expanse of ice plant which blooms in bright colors which is edged by an herb garden for cooks. There is a lot of rosemary but also thyme, sage, and other favorite culinary herbs in a round planter at the end of the lower deck. Beyond the herb plantings is a gate to the cliff promontory with what Pete calls "lover's bench." Great place for photos. A small shore pine hangs off the cliff. The beach at Navarro River can be reached by walking or driving.

Amazing place in a great location

Perfect place for a relaxing sibling get together. Just enough space with semi open floor plan making for the perfect place to sit, reminisce, tell stories, eat meals and enjoy each other’s company. Can’t beat the view! Easy location to quietly enjoy the space and short drive to other places. Would return in a heartbeat!

The beds in this place were magical and the views as well. Thank you!!!

Amazing spot, just my husband and I. We loved the unique touches inside, obviously artists who decorated/designed it. The garden area is sweet and being able to go right to the cliffside is fabulous. There is a fox, quail and a hummingbird that hovered 1 ft from me, never been that close to one. So peaceful and serene. So beautiful. The hot tub was great, though it got windy and the water would spray up so the chlorine would get in our eyes. the Ms. PacMan shown in the picture isn't there, we were looking forward to playing it, but we were so occupied so it didn't matter. Would definitely stay again.

Spectacular location a views. Wild winds outside and cozy inside. Really magical place

The Sea & River House was perfect for our recent spring break family vacation to the Mendocino coast. The views from this house are simply amazing! We even saw whale activity one morning. The owner is friendly and responsive. The house was very clean, well stocked, and has a lot of thoughtful little touches that made our stay even more enjoyable. We would definitely choose to stay here again.

We loved the property. The hosts were very responsive and clearly care about their property. There were a few minor issues, and they were very concerned and addressed them right away. The kitchen is very well stocked, which is always a pleasant surprise. The view is sensational.

This place is a little piece of heaven. I don't know where to start. The location is absolutely gorgeous. The views from the house and the property are stunning. We loved the little private grassy area on the cliffside for reading and picnics during the day. The hot tub is perfect for warming up after sunset and watching the stars. The fire place inside makes everything so cozy. The kitchen had a very nice updated sink and stove/oven and they had all the utensils we needed. If you are cook, they do have a spice collection started. Sleeping in the downstairs main bedroom, you wake up to a view of the ocean and can step directly out onto the balcony first thing, what a dream! I really appreciated the speakers they had available for playing music, the devices all connect to bluetooth as well! Despite other houses being nearby, the way this house is positioned and with all the brush and plants, it felt very private still. This trip was my wife and mine's honeymoon, and we hope to return one day!

When I travel with a group, I want the place we stay to be as much of the appeal as the activities we do, and this rental absolutely fit the bill. The panoramic view of the Pacific made even the quiet moments drinking coffee in the morning feel grand and special. We kayaked the Albion River, rode railbikes out of Fort Bragg, and explored Navarro Beach, never having to drive more than 30 min once we were there. Thanks to our hosts for maintaining such a beautiful spot!

Four of us go on a yearly retreat and selected to stay in Albion this year. The location was wonderful and as described on the posting. The kitchen was in great shape and we had everything we needed for cooking our meals, the 4 bedrooms were great for us, we did not have to double up!
The property was clean and communication with Peter was great, even though they were out of the country.
I would highly recommend and would not hesitate to return.

We had an amazing stay at the Sea and River House for the weekend! We loved the home decor and game room for having some quality family time. The only thing we feel could have made our experience even better was a laundry room, but other than we might just come back soon.

We were in town for a wedding at Cuffey's Cove. The house was located between the venue and Albion CA. What a VIEW!! The house was well stocked with everything you need to make your stay pleasant! Would totally rent again!

My husband and I celebrated our 35th wedding anniversary by spending three nights at Sea & River House, and we couldn't have been happier with our experience. Perched on a bluff that provides stunning views all day long, this rental property had everything we were looking for. The interior was spotless, beautifully-decorated and included a great kitchen, super comfy beds, a cozy wood-burning stove, and a nice collection of CDs. The upper deck was the perfect spot to enjoy morning coffee and a homemade dinner as the sun was setting, and the lower living space was ideal for watching a movie and enjoying the outdoor hot tub. The view from the cliffside bench is outstanding. We bought groceries at the Albion Grocery Store, hiked through a redwood forest at Van Damme State Park, walked along a nearby beach, and had a delicious dinner at the Albion River Inn. We hope to return in the future to luxuriate in this very relaxing home, do more hiking, and rent an outrigger canoe at Catch a Canoe and Bikes Too!

Very comfortable and pleasant place to stay.
The scenery was beautiful. Furniture was very comfortable.

The property wasn't that difficult to find. The home is small but had enough room for everyone to sit. Great views of the ocean. Management was very accomadating. Not crazy about the wood paneling throughout. That needs to go.

We had a wonderful time staying at this house! The view is stunning and the house is warm and comfortable, with a good set-up. Communication with the owner was quick and easy, and we had everything we needed - thank you so much for a very enjoyable stay!

Great location and amenities. Nothing beats sitting in a spa with drink and a view of the ocean. Morning, afternoon or evening, it just doesn't matter, the view is spectacular.

Wow.... this beautiful home was perfevt in every way! Spacious, well equipped, cozy/comfy and spotless!!! Did I mention the view yet?? There are views all across the back side of the house. Beautiful grounds to walk around, so many lovely spaces, beautiful artwork and furnishings everywhere and the most comfy beds and pillows I've ever had away fron my own home. SO many extra blankets and towels and EVERYTHING smelled freshly laundered and not musty, ehich I often find at many home rentals. This is my favorite vrbo rental ever! There was also quick and clear communication when I reached out. I'm definitely saving this one to return to 💗

If you’re considering staying here, let me tell you, DO IT. The view alone is honestly priceless. And you can’t even capture its stunning beauty by photograph, you have to feel it, experience it. We chose the downstairs master bedroom to sleep in and it was cozy. I absolutely loved that the hot tub was right outside the sliding glass door. The hot tub is perfect for relaxing during the spectacular sunsets here. There are lovely birds singing throughout the morning, very peaceful. Our favorite part, besides the million dollar view, was observing the cute little momma fox and her fox cub that live nearby. Once we spotted her, we became obsessed with using our binoculars to watch her quietly from inside. The kitchen is well appointed for cooking, I was able to make breakfast a couple of the days we stayed. I spoke to the host on the phone and he was incredibly friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend staying here if you are wanting a peaceful getaway with the absolute best view. I’m so beyond thankful that I discovered this gem!

What a beautiful property. Absolutely everything was well thought out. The hot tub was such a bonus.

Wow! What a great view of the ocean from this house. House was just as advertised. Owner was very responsive via email/text to a refrigerator issue that was resolved as quickly as possible, keeping us in the loop with constant communication. Highly recommend this place as a relaxing visit with great access to Mendocino County.

Well equipped, well located ocean front home in Albion with a spectacular view. Less than 10 miles from Mendocino.

Amazing property with stellar views. Just staying in the property was actually one of the highlights of our vacation. Location is great just within minutes to Albion and Fort Bragg. Just the right amount of distance away from town but still secluded enough to be with nature. It’s so breathtaking would definitely come back again! A place I would keep close to my heart with monumental memories with my partner. Host is communicative and very accommodating and they have a guide book. Place even had wild quails around. They provide wood as well for fireplace. Do yourself a favor and book this. You will not regret. The place had everything. I cooked for our whole stay. Would recommend getting groceries before you head out. If not, Safeway had great selection for seafood and beef but mind you it’s 30 minutes away. Also head out with sunset time in mind because hwy 1 is picturesque but also winding with cliff drops.

We loved this home. Location was perfect. View was beautiful, near to Mendocino which we love and beaches. I and my brothers family loved this place and will be back.

This is our second stay this year. It was perfect in every way! Thanks for having us, and we look forward to visiting again.

We stayed at this place last year and just loved it. We knew we had to come back. The location can not be beat! Make sure you allow some time to just relax at the place. You'll regret it if you don't. The location is also fantastic for visiting the redwoods and wineries on 128, beautiful state parks like Russian Gulch, lighthouses, bowling ball beach, Mendocino, and Fort Bragg. We had a great meal at Albion River Inn. I know that we'll be back again!

My husband and I were in Albion for our 17th anniversary. We enjoy relaxing, cooking and being in a quiet location, with beauty all around, yet close enough to restaurants and some exploring. This home doesn't disappoint. It's a short drive to Mendocino and some state parks if you feel like going out. If you stay in there's a foosball table, games and 3 TV's with Netflix, amazon and more. A fully equipped kitchen, plenty of places to hangout and chill. You can watch the hummingbirds flitter about all day, there's proteas, passion flowers amongst many other beautiful plants around. Then the piece de resistance, the view, amazing.
My only complaint is the furniture is not very comfortable but my husband calls my princess and the pea...so. The bedroom downstairs is the best for quiet, peaceful sleep as the bed is very comfortable.
Enjoy your stay, we did.

what an extraordinary spot! First the location, although a bit hard to find as there is no gps and little cell strength out in the beyond, was incredible.( print out the directions before you leave and know there are a few "navarro ridges" in the area. The owner thoughtfully notes exact location in instructions and that really helped). The house is very private, not crowded by others, and looks right out at the magnificent Pacific, with sea stacks abounding. Deck was great, sunsets wow!!! saw whales spouting and tails flapping. Kitchen better equipped than my home and I cook a lot! Great living room, comfortable, excellent lighting for reading. Beds very comfortable. Quiet..lovely. Oh, did I mention the stars? We live on the coast but we rarely see stars like this. countless and beautiful.
What a fantastic 4 night stay. Decided to take a chance and stay out of Mendocino and towns. What a great idea. Everything you need including great grocery, dining etc in Mendocino or the little store a few miles south in Elk. Can't thank the owners enough. We will be back! Althoughthere was room for at least 6, there were only 2 of us and we didn't use the bottom floor., with its own deck, fridge and game table. Thank you for this great vacation!

Enjoyed our 3 night stay on the coast with beautiful scenic views of coastline from the decks. Daily visits from hummingbirds was a plus.

When I travel, I find a central base from which I can explore many points of interest. From the moment we turned into the driveway, it literally took our breath away. And we could have done nothing else but just enjoy our stay and been perfectly content. Mendocino, a short and scenic drive north, was so charming and quaint. Ft Bragg had many amenities & the best fresh seafood for us to take back and cook. Organic produce was plentiful and not too hard to find at area stores. The Point Arena lighthouse and Bowling Ball Beach to the south made for a really fun day trip. Sunsets are dreamy. Signs of deer & sightings of rabbits only added to the whimsy of this place. This place is magical!
4.8
A wonderful home full of cool, artsy furniture with wonderful views of Pacific sunsets! A short walk brings you to the edge of the bluff where you have amazing views north and south watching the waves pound against the headlands. Two large decks and a wood burning stove add to the ambience.
4.8
The view is amazing and the house highlights it well! We had everything that we needed and communication was clear. If I was in the area I would stay again!
4.8
This stay was a birthday trip for my best friend since high school and I (51 years!). The house was cute, quaint and cozy, very clean, plenty of quilts, blankets, pillows and towels. Each bed was wrought iron and had a very pretty quilt on it. It was very well stocked with everything you would need (kitchen, games, books, DVDs, CDs, foosball, hot tub, even a pair of binoculars to view the ocean). It sits on a cliff overlooking the ocean and has a deck we sat on each morning enjoying our coffee. I highly recommend it.
4.8
This property has everything going for it -- the location and view, plenty of privacy, plus a clean and comfortable house. The kitchen is well-equipped, and the decor is utterly charming. The decks and hot tub were also fabulous! The owners obviously go out of their way to keep the property well-maintained. We really enjoyed our stay and plan to book again!

The pictures didn't do it justice... our family overwhelmingly loved staying in this property. Amazing views, comfortable furniture, well equipped and fully stocked kitchen, and plenty of books and games and DVDs to keep your family entertained for hours. The outdoor chimenea and indoor wood burning stove worked very well, and we used the hot tub at least once a day. Our only complaint was that the trail down to Navarro beach had damage and was closed so we had to make the 4 minute drive to the parking area. Overall, we absolutely loved this house!

I feel like I should keep this place a secret. A great deal of thought, intelligence, creativity, and talent has clearly been invested in this home. Whimsical aesthetic with beauty everywhere inside and out. Everything you need and just about everything you'd like right where you are looking for it. The views from both decks and the bluff are just stunning and indescribable on a sunny day. Shooting stars, the milky way and and whale spouts were highlights.
