The Palazzo is set on one of the highest points in the old town. The rooftop garden was magnificent and offered fantastic views. Breakfast was great. It was served in a magnificent dining room. The Palazzo is a bit tired, but this only added to its character and history (and its 100's of years old, so to be expected). The staff member and the owner were very friendly and helpful.

La colazione é stata abbondante e preparata con molta cura. La proprietaria è persona gradevole e disponibile a soddisfare ogni richiesta che gli viene fatta. Ci ha accolti nel suo storico palazzo non da ospiti paganti ma da amici

We greatly enjoyed our stay at this beautiful place in the old town of Matera. All the attractions were close by, as well as restaurants and cafes. The breakfast was delicious and was served in a beautiful hall, the selection was diverse (both salty and sweet, also fruits). Our room had a high ceiling, which was covered with beautiful ceiling paintings, the room was spacious and royal, it felt like we had stepped into the 18th century. The hosts were kind and helpful. We definitely wish to come back someday and we recommend this wonderful place to our friends.
We liked everything.

It is not only the location that is a palazzo, but they really make you feel royal here. Signora Anna Rosa is the loveliest and the kindest, I really consider her now my adoptive nonna. Sofia helped us with everything, she was always there for us. The breakfast amazing, signora Anna Rosa even made a cake for us. And the rooms are simply splendid. Such a magnificent experience, I hope I will come back soon.

All was great!

Wonderful period Palazzo lovingly and exquisitely maintained. Wonderful, generous hosts. Excellent breakfast. Well-situated with superb views from the garden. Dona Anna Rosa Bernardini and Sophia outdid themselves in making our stay lovely and memorable. Thank you!!! We will return....
Nothing. Everything was perfect.

The palace is a real jewel in the core of Matera. The host, Anna Rosa, was absolutely delightful to interact with. She loves books, flowers and plants. Sofia was also very nice and always ready to help. This is a real palace (XVIII century) and our room has very tall ceiling and an exceptional bathroom. The little rose garden on the roof is simply WONDERFUL and directly facing the "Sassi". We had one of the best breakfast we have ever had with excellent coffee, fruits, a variety of eclairs and other "pasticcino" (you can choose "sweet or salty breakfast" as options). The view from the room cannot be better, the best of the best! Gazie mille!
Hard to find...
A little detail is that one side of large window (left) connecting to the balcony was a bit hard to open (I think it was a problem of space due to the air conditioning). It is an old building, so I can understand that space can be an issue. However, this was not a problem at all and it did not take any of the splendor of out stay that was simply WONDERFUL :).

Spacious, comfortable and clean in a very airy and historic building. Lovely hosts who took care. An excellent base for exploring the old city at its very door. And excellent breakfasts. Not forgetting the help with parking and arriving!

Beautiful ancient interior and exterior of the building, spacious room with water heating and comfortable bed, exceptional hospitality of the host, amazing view from the garden onto Madonna de Idris church, one of the main sightseeings of Matera

The proprietor is extraordinary. Her chief staff Sofia speaks excellent English and is very available to answer questions and make recommendations. This is a working palace which hosts many festive events in addition to hosting overnight guests. Their is a wonderful garden. Our “room” was a suite of rooms all furnished with period furniture. Breakfasts are among the best in all of Italy. We hope to return next year./
There are a lot of stairs to climb. They help you with the luggage.
