Historic Adams Travis Haus is one of only seven historic houses in Fredericksburg on the Gillespie County Historical Society Tour in November of 2022. With features such as stone walls and high ceilings, this home retains much of its original appeal while still possessing the modern conveniences needed to make your stay comfortable. A romantic getaway for two located just a couple of blocks from downtown Fredericksburg's Main Street and Marktplatz.
Gather in the cozy living room in the Adams Travis house, which is furnished with a spacious leather sofa and multiple accent chairs. The exposed stone walls throughout the living room make you feel as if you've stepped into a bygone era. The charm continues in the kitchen, which retains much of this historic home's original cabinetry. A full kitchen with a refrigerator, stove, and oven makes extended stays convenient. All of the dishes, utensils, and cookware needed for preparing meals is provided, which can be enjoyed at the eat-in kitchen table or more formal table in the separate dining room.
The cool tile underfoot and soft neutral colors in the master bedroom make this a restful haven. The room is spacious and airy. Soft white linens drape the bed, while two ambiance lights hanging over the bed add a modern touch. A flat screen TV is located in the bedroom for unwinding with a movie in the evening. It is unobtrusive, allowing you also to unplug and disconnect from the world during your getaway if you so choose. Take plenty of time getting ready in the spacious bathroom, where you can pull a stool up to the extended vanity. The bathroom also features a fabulous marble and travertine walk-in shower.
Enjoy extended living space outside, where you can relax in your hand-made Amish gliders around the fire-pit or take a long soak in your own private hot tub. In addition to this home's amenities, all of the activities offered in downtown Fredericksburg are just a short stroll away. Located just a couple of blocks off of Fredericksburg's historic Main Street, you can easily walk to a host of shops, restaurants, wine tasting rooms, and art galleries from your accommodations. Pick up your favorite bottle of wine from one of the many vineyards and wineries in the Fredericksburg area, and retreat back to the privacy of the romantic Adams Travis house! If you are looking for a compound that will sleep up to 4 Fred Haus sits right next door to Adams Travis house, rent both for a couples weekend, Friend's getaway or girls retreat!

Everything you need is right at your fingertips in this historical cottage steps away from downtown Fredericksburg. Immaculate and spacious, with an inviting hot tub, a super comfortable bed awaits you at the end of a full day of hiking, shopping, and wine tasting.

My husband and I truly enjoyed this place. House was so comfortable, we enjoyed the hot tub and just a short walk to Main St. Could not have picked a better place to stay!

This home was so fun to stay in. They provided all the amenities. With that said, I would improve two things…a kleenex box and sharp knives! Definitely a private retreat close to town that anyone would enjoy. We took our cavalier and she loved it! Easy to get her outside with only a step or two down. This home would be nice for anyone with a handicap. Would stay again!

We LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this charming cozy cottage. It's convenient to everything and we love not being in a location on Main Street to listen to the heavy traffic all the time. It was nice relaxing in the hot tub for two each evening after wine tastings. My husband told me he didn't know the thread count of the sheets & pillowcases but he loved the softness. I thought our bamboo sheets were soft but nothing like these at all. I'm looking into buying some.

When can we move in. My husband and I loved this historical home. I wanted to cook in the kitchen but will need to book another stay to do that. We had everything we needed. Short walk to our favorite restaurant and the Mesquite Festival Grounds.

Wonderful, charming home in easy walking distance to all the shops and restaurants. Old world preserved with cool air conditioning, comfortable bed, nice kitchen and bathroom as well. Super easy check in and out. Exactly what we were looking for. Highly recommend and will definitely return.

Wow. We loved the house and the location. We stay at a lot of VRBO places and most are lacking enough towels, throw blankets for the sofa, etc… not this place. It was perfect.
4.8
Cute house and yard. Central location. Easy parking. Really clean. Enjoyed our stay!

All 5 doors on the house…do not provide a secure feeling. Yes, they lock but remain very loose when closed & locked - could easily be pushed in.
Coffee cups & silverware were not clean. I had to wash everything we needed prior to using.
Two of three kitchen lightbulbs were out.
The TV/router had issues but were resolved but had to hit the router power button “on” every time we wanted to turn on the TV.
Great fireplace & starter logs - we bought wood.
Enjoyed hot tub.
Coffee maker & coffee were great. The sugar provided in the drawer below the coffee maker is powdered sugar. Need granulated sugar.
Plenty of nice bathroom towels. Need more kitchen towels.
Comfy couch!
Comfy mattress & pillows!!
Extra quilts appreciated!
All amenities in this unit should be listed on your site
so visitors know what all is provided and what they will need bring with them. There was no mention of the washer/dryer in the house - very important!

Nice, clean, home with nice hot tub and an easy walk to main streets.

My husband and I planned a getaway weekend to Texas wine country. We wanted walking distance to Main Street and got just that. The home is excellent in decor and cleanliness. We would have enjoyed a television in the bedroom but we made it work with our iPad. The whole process of booking along with getting answers to questions along the way went very well. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Thank you for such a pleasant place to rest and refresh! I especially loved the front porch with the rockers in the morning while reading and sipping my coffee.

Very nice space close to town but also quite very roomy and clean

We love the historical older home! It was clean and comfortable. It felt so good returning to it after a day in the heat of summer. A/C is welcoming and appreciated.
4.8
Very well managed & maintained. Every single thing worked properly.

Very comfortable home with modernization as well as maintaining it's historical appearance. The decor and trim is beautiful! We loved the stone walls, high ceilings and cool floors after a hot day outside, especially for our dogs. We appreciate being able to bring our pets and how friendly Fredericksburg is to dogs. For future guests with pets: you will need to walk them on a leash as the back fenced area is very small. The other Haus on the property has a bigger fenced area. This was fine for us this time since it was too hot to leave the dogs out or for us to use the hot tub.

Beautiful historic single home. One of the best VRBOs we have ever rented - authentic Fredericksburg! Short walk to Main Street with wonderful shops, tasting rooms and restaurants. A must if you visit.
4.8
Overall wonderful place. Walk to town and Charming building. Suggest check hot water temperature, its almost dangerous. Also, asking guest to do the dishes before leaving may not be best, wine glasses were dirty when we arrived.
4.8
It was a very unique property and the location was great. We found that the kitchen wasn’t well appointed for much cooking. The hot tub cover is in need of replacement. Overall, we enjoyed our stay.

This historic cottage is perfectly situated within walking distance of Main St, offering easy access to restaurants, shopping, and tons of activities. The cottage is adorable and cozy and offers a unique and welcoming home away from home. We can’t wait to go back!

A repeat customer to this wonderful home. The location is everything you can ask for to access the main street in Fredericksburg.
4.8
Charming, clean great place to stay. Walking distance to everything. We definitely will come back.
4.8
Very cozy cabin and nice stay. Only negative comment is that the doors are not sealed well. It was in the 20s for our stay so it was quite chilly in the living area.needs new weather stripping!! The fireplace was nice though!!
4.8
Quaint, spacious and charming couples getaway. We walked everywhere around Fredericksburg from the house. Enjoyed the cabin a lot, cooked from the kitchen, the corner location can get a little noisy, and the back porch / hot tub was a little less inviting than the pictures portrayed. Overall relaxing and great experience.

Adam Travis house is great! Has a lot of character! Check in/Check out process is smooth, very clean and all the home essentials provided! Walking distance to Main Street with a lot of options. We will stay their again!

Beautifully done historical home. Elegant and roomy. All the amenities we needed. Loved the decor. The location is great. Easy to get to shops and restaurants.
4.8
Great place for a couple. Historic with tons of character. Everything you require and a short walk to main. Go to pioneer village and you will never complain about your lifestyle again!
4.8
Within walking distance of main st. A lot bigger than it looks. Has a kurig machine on top of a regular coffee pot. Only "complaint" we had was the curtains in the bedroom didn't do a great job keeping light out so in the morning it can be bothersome especially in the summer and/or if you're the type that sleeps in.

Cozy House
The house was nice, we really enjoyed the hot tub and location. The only draw back was a very strong smell of burnt wood from the fireplace.
4.8
Made us feel at home.
Well maintained with a homey, historic feel. Nicely decorated and stocked. Great location with lots to experience within just a few blocks. A 5 min walk gets you to the heart of downtown. Would recommend and stay again.

Just off of Main St.
Absolutely a charming house with a great location, just 2 blocks from Main street. Lived the easy access to the shops and activities.
House was well organized, clean, and well equipped for our vacation needs. The hot tub was an added bonus. The backyard was smaller than expected for our dogs, but not a major issue. We would recommend this home to any traveler visiting Fredricksburg.
Fair warning, Fredricksburg business and restaurants have different operating hours on Mon through Wed...weekends have more to offer than during the week.

Charming old German stone cottage, close to everything there is to do on Main St.
Very clean. One small sofa - really could use a 2nd sofa for two adults to be able to stretch out and relax. Comfy bed/not so comfy pillows. Bedspread not big enough for the bed. Raveling old bath towels. Kitchen cookware & appliances could really stand an update. Hot tub and area it was in - not at all appealing - didn’t even try it.
