While your basecamp may be in the more affordable and quieter Fredericksburg, you may be interested in day-tripping to the cities of Austin - home of the State Capital and the University of Texas - and San Antonio - home of the Alamo, Six Flags, and SeaWorld.
You can pick your own fruit from local farmers who open up their farms for strawberries, blackberries, and peaches, plus many summer vegetables are available to pick or buy and take home with you!
If you want to see live vaudeville, try Rockbox Theater, just off Main Street, which is the only professionally cast live music show in the Texas Hill Country that guarantees family-friendly, top-of-the-line entertainment! If you come in the springtime, you can drive on the famous Texas Bluebonnet Willow City Loop just outside of town, one of the most photographed areas in the state.
See what all the 'Keep Austin Weird' hype is about, or get a load of history at the Alamo. While sometimes overlooked, this area of the US is brimming with unique experiences for the whole family.

The house was clean and well equipped. Beds were comfortable and kitchens and restrooms had everything we needed for a comfortable stay.

What a great home! It had plenty of space for everyone and was located in a very quiet part of town. Utilized the front porch each morning, beds were comfortable, and kitchen was stocked with all that we needed. We also appreciated the use of the extra-large garage to keep our cars in. Would definitely stay at this home again!

The home was spotlessly clean and very well equipped and furnished. And located on a nice quiet street with very nice neighboring homes as well.

House was clean and close to everything we wanted to do during a birthday weekend for my 20 year old niece. The beds were comfortable and the living space was as well. The twin bedroom is a little small but okay for my 12 year old nephew.

My family of 13 stayed comfortably in this beautiful house. The teens had a slumber party on air mattresses in the living room floor. The house was well equipped with plenty of supplies for our use, including a well stocked kitchen as we did plenty of cooking. The bedrooms are decorated beautifully and the beds are comfortable. Seriously where can I get one of those pillows? There was plenty of space in the closets for our clothes. The neighborhood is nice and quaint, and you're just a short drive away from main street. We certainly recommend and would be repeat customers.

Nice property. Described accurately. Nice, quiet location. Clean, with nice touches..including Christmas decorations and chocolate, plenty of dishes, etc in kitchen. We had a problem with no hot water first night (which we did not discover to almost 11pm), however local property Mgr helpful and communicated well. We reset one of them, so had hot water in MBR; other will require replacement, so none in 2nd bath or kitchen....we managed after all got ready for wedding on day 2 of stay. Please note: if you have toddlers, lots of deadbolts in the house including closets. Even with all that, we had a nice stay.

The neighborhood was nice and we felt very safe. The house was clean and nicely appointed. There were bowls of Christmas candy everywhere! Our only problem was that there was no hot water in one of the bathrooms. Another slight problem was that we couldn’t open the lockbox on the side of the house. The lockbox by the front door worked fine but one night two of us arrived back at the house without the front door key that was in that box. When we tried the lockbox on the side of the house, we couldn’t get it open. There was a can of WD-40 next to it and we tried that but still no luck.

We had a great stay with two families for 8 total people. Home and rooms were spacious. House was nicer than photos, felt more like a vintage country home. Close enough to Main street without the noise of being directly on Main Street. Enjoyed the full kitchen, outdoor space with fire pit, and extra large garage space. Great access for cycling, too.

Everything was great, had an amazing time staying at the humble house.

We loved everything about the Humble House! The house was fully stocked and there was plenty of room for all 4 of us. We spent a lot of time on the front porch, mornings and evenings. The fire pit was an extra bonus. The location was perfect, not close enough to walk downtown but just a five minute drive. It felt like home while we were there and would definitely come back.
I highly recommend renting the Humble House, you will not regret it.

The property was wonderful. If memories of grandma's house pouring over you sounds enticing, this is the place for you. The home was well appointed, with comfortable beds and furniture. Very well kept home and yard in a beautiful neighborhood just minutes from town. 5 stars all around, we would definitely book again.

We enjoyed our stay. There was so much room and everything we needed was there for us. The owners were easy to reach if we had any questions. And it was a close to town.

Home away from home
We had an incredibly comfortable stay at the Humble House. My husband and I attended a conference in Fredericksburg, while my parents cared for our son. There was plenty of space both inside and out for him to run play. My parents enjoyed watching him play while rocking on the rocking chairs outside and enjoying the breeze. The neighborhood was wonderful, it was close to Main Street. We will definitely be staying again.

Wonderful home!!!
We love the Humble House. This is the second year our family of 5 has stayed during the Christmas season. Super comfortable for all of us, with everything we needed and even decorated for Christmas!! The kids especially appreciate the little baskets full of candy. Will definitely stay again next year. 😊

Nice comfortable home
We really didn’t go there to stay at a house, just needed a place for a few nights to sleep and get change. The house is comfy, it’s clean, it has everything you need, and the beds are comfortable, but the house doesn’t sleep 11, the house only sleeps six or seven if you put two people in a queen size bed. it has two air mattresses available, we were only 8 so the air mattress helped. but they deflate during the night and you have to reinflate them in the middle of night waking up everybody else unless you want to suck it up.
The picture of the fireplace outside, you can forget about it because it does not come with a propane tank and when we asked they said it was not provided, I guess they want you to go buy a propane tank or bring one with you.
Other than that like I said bet the house is clean, comfy and it’s close to town.

Well stocked, great location
We had a family vacation here for thanksgiving 2021. The side yard was large and property well manicured. The house was stocked with every kitchen gadget and bathrooms were full of towels. There were baskets of good chocolate all around the house. The oven is smaller than average.

Perfect!
This home was perfect! There were 6 ladies staying for a “girl’s trip” and we loved our stay. The kitchen is fully stocked “plus”, beds were very comfortable, home is in a lovely neighborhood with nice neighbors, spacious bathrooms, and lots of windows for great light. Would definitely stay in this home again!

Great House
Worked well for three couples and two single adults (had to use one of the air mattresses - which did deflate some by morning). Beds were comfortable, house was clean, plenty of linens, nice sized rooms and well equipped kitchen. Everything was as described and would definitely recommend and/or rent again. You are NOT within easy walking distance to Main St or any of the attractions, but an easy less than 5 min drive to anywhere in town. As described, located in a small, quite and very well kept subdivision.

Awesome property!
Perfect residence for family gathering escorting 98 year old Marine to the War Museum of the Pacific. Although property was not mobility friendly, this was not an issue. Close proximity to destination. Great neighborhood! Would visit again. Highly recommend it! Thanks!
