Several friends stayed here for an event nearby. Comfortable and serene setting. Beautiful view of the pond, and even when it rained, we enjoyed sitting on the covered porch and made a fire in the wood stove. Would definitely return if coming back to the area.

We enjoyed a family weekend celebrating our App State grad. Thank you for sharing your family home with us. The house had everything we needed and the outdoor area was spectacular.

So relaxing and cute!!

A perfect quick getaway for our family with two young kids. They loved playing in the creek while Mom and Dad watched from the porch. Great accommodations for adults and kids alike! Highly recommend

This was the perfect property for the guys weekend fishing trip. The covered patio and wood stove was a instrumental part to the weekend. Our surprise visitor was a great not advertised amenity. "Not Lost" showed up to welcome us to the neighborhood. Overall this house had everything you will need for a great getaway.

House is nice and cozy, we enjoyed hanging out in the living room on the comfy furniture. It was a very cold weekend so we couldn’t enjoy the porch with the wood-burning stove but would love to come back in the spring to sit outside and listen to the creek.

We spent our Christmas in this cozy cabin in the mountains.

It was fun and clean

We were so happily surprised at how adorable this house. The pond was fun for fishing and the creek was great for adults wanting to relax and kids wanting to play. There was a friendly little neighborhood dog that came to visit every now and then and she just added to the magic of the house.

My husband and I stayed with our 3 and 7yr old and really enjoyed all this home had to offer. The neighbors old dog is a lovely welcoming committee. We thoroughly enjoyed her playing the the creek and sitting by the fire with us. The kids played in the creek, catching crawdads and making mud pies. We fished the pond (caught 2 bass and a sunfish after 2 days of trying) and made good use of the porch with morning coffee, dinners (charcoal grill was great) and reading on the swing. We had cooler weather which was perfect for using the woodstove. Firewood was provided which we appreciated. The home is well stocked with plenty of towels and things like toilet paper, trash bags, dish soap etc. No dishwasher, so paper plates are a must. Oven is small, but works fine. Just plan ahead on meals that will fit! Also note, the fridge is newer than the one pictured so does not have a water/ice machine any longer. Plenty of ice trays in freezer however. Lay out of the house is a little odd, as there's an addition, so no sight lines from kitchen to living room, something to note if you have small kids. Didn't bother us however. Upstairs jacuzzi tub was a big hit with the kids. Entry and exit to the property was smooth, never know what to expect on mountain roads, so I was pleasantly surprised. Relatively close to boone and blowing rock. Overall one of the better homes we've rented. Would stay here again!

Just don't try to book it when I need it! I have two more years of kids at ASU and I don't want to stay anywhere else.

We loved this house and fishing at the pond. We did not catch anything our whole stay, but everything about it was relaxing. Lots of visits from neighbors' pets to keep us entertained! The reading nook in the small loft above the kitchen was a hit with the kids, too. We will definitely return...

With ages from 1 yr to 83 yrs-this was a perfect spot and had something for everyone. We loved the quirky architecture, the lovely porch and the kids loved the nooks and crannies indoors and the stream and pond outdoors. We highly recommend this property and would definitely stay here again!

A wonderful getaway!

We loved staying here. It was the perfect distance from Boone and quiet! Also very clean. Bring soap as they didn’t have any for showering on the property, we also didn’t ask as we had our own. Other than that this was an incredible VRBO for us. 5 stars and would stay here again!

There are really nice and amazing...alot of quiet also relax. The problem is smelling alike something water outside it make go thought in the cabin we smell everywhere ...others are great thanks for let us stay there.

Fantastic property we enjoy all the cozy bedrooms and listening to the creek while sitting by the outside wood burning stove.

We had a wonderful stay in Todd! The house is super fun! The nooks and crannies were delightful places to hang out and rest! The pond is fun and so is the creek! The neighbors were all polite and helpful! Seth is a great host and super helpful! We got to do a lot of mountain runs and try out fishing! The best part for us was sitting on the porch in front of the wood stove!! It’s quiet and comfy! We were there in December so it was kind of chilly and rainy but we enjoyed our stay so much! Easy drive to Boone and easy to get to the stores if you need to but far enough away from everything to have the peace and quiet and rest!

This was our 2nd year staying at this house! We love it. It's extremely clean, feels like you're home as soon as you walk in, and a perfect central location to anything you're interested in exploring! We love the fact that it doesn't feel like a typical tourist rental. It feels like you're a local enjoying the mountain life.

This place is perfect! We picked it because it is right in the middle of our two must-do locations when we visit the mountains: The Ashe County Cheese Company and the Dan'l Boone Inn. Check-in is super easy and we were greeted with a $10 gift card to the Todd Mercantile, which we used to buy two loaves of some of the best sourdough bread we have ever had. We were also greeted/visited by the unofficial welcoming party: a very friendly dog from across the road. Her tag says not to feed her and we didn't, but that wasn't for her lack of trying. Our first day was a rainout due to the remanants of a hurricane passing through, but we made good use of the games inside and woodstove outside, while watching/listening to the rain on the roof. The tv selections were more than adequate. The cell phone service in the area was very spotty, but the wifi made that a non-issue while in/around the house. On the eve of our check-out date, we were offered a complimentary late check-out, which we graciously accepted and got to sleep in a little extra that day. We are hoping to return in warmer weather so our adventurous boys can explore the creek and fish in the pond. If you are looking for a cozy location to spend some relaxing mountain time, this is your place!

This house was a good stay. There was 7 adults with plenty of room. The house was clean. The only thing is we wish there was long curtains on the windows. There were some in master bed but was sheer and see through. You could see headlights at night and morning. Other than that we had a great time. We loved this house. Hope to come back again. My husband and I favorite spot was the stove fire place on the porch we the creek in the background! We could sit there all day!

Relaxing family vacation
My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our time at the house which had everything that we needed including lots of sleeping spaces. The kids enjoyed fishing in the pond and using the tire swing. The house was remote enough to enjoy a quiet reprieve but close enough to amenities. We loved tubing nearby. Communication with the property manager was great. We definitely hope to return in the future.

This place brought a smile to my 80 year old daddy's face as soon as we got out of the truck. Being from the coast, he's vacationed in the mountains for many decades and brought us kids for 40+ years. This is one of the absolute best places we've stayed. The sound of the stream, the pond view, the wildlife, the old A-frame part of the home with it's comfort and serenity are awesome. The town of Todd is great with a wonderful park and kind locals. The food at Riverside was so good we ate there 4 times! To top it off the sweet neighborhood dog (with the hilarious tags that made us all chuckle) came to visit us often which made my daddy miss our pup at home less. My brother and I were delighted to have our dad enjoy his father's day gift so much he wants to come back soon. The owners have done a real favor to share such a lovely slice of NC heaven.

We really enjoyed our stay at this magical cabin home. Very cozy, but spacious for us to bring our toddler who needed daily naps and for my mother in law to have her own space. We love the wood burning stove on the porch! We were close enough to get to Boone easily and surrounding towns with fun stuff to do. Would definiltey stay again.

I loved the location. It was away from civilization but not too far. The stream, the pond, visiting wildlife and everything we needed. I could happily live there. I loved the nighttime stream lighting. The porch was perfect. I even napped on the upper deck. Would love to visit again

Little piece of heaven!
We just spent 4 nights with our adult children, another family member, and 3 grandchildren. We were thrilled with our accommodations. Inside, bedrooms were cozy, plenty of bathrooms for our group, and the whole vibe is very cozy mountain cabin for a place that size. However, as nice as the inside is, we spent most of our time outside. That awesome porch/woodstove, the creek, and the pond made our trip. Our grandchildren could have never left the cabin, and they would still have had a magical weekend. However, Todd and tubing was so close by that we couldn't resist taking our group floating on July 4th. Great trip and lots of memories made!

Our stay was so relaxing. The property was beautiful, the house was clean and comfortable. It was perfect for a family of 10 with all different ages. The creek was beautiful. The grandbabies had a blast playing in it. The boys fished in the pond. We hope to come back again someday and Scott the property manager was great. We couldn't have asked for a better vacation.

Serenity now...with scenery on the side
This property was exactly as advertised. We had nine in our party which was comprised of parents, grandparents, children and toddlers. The unique build/structure of the home allowed for privacy when needed; then, plenty of room for common activities. Sitting in the quietness on the front porch (with a small fire in the wood stove) was interrupted only by an occasional cyclist, jogger, and even more rarely, a vehicle. Even when they did happen by the gentle never ending serenade of the creek overpowered their sound! We found the small extra touches for cleanliness refreshing, especially in a post-pandemic world. Fishing the catch-n-release pond was extremely relaxing for some of our group (although as a warning for the avid fisherman: the fish don't make it easy...LOL). There are enough activities within a couple miles of the cabin to explore for at least a long weekend; a week's worth for us. And if local activities dry up during a longer stay, it's a very short trip to Boone or West Jefferson where plenty of activity happens constantly (what we were avoiding...;) ). Definitely recommend the scenic routes to either of those locations; avoid four lanes and relax. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and look forward to booking our next stay!

Graduation Celebration
The whole family stayed here for our daughter's graduation from AppState. It is an older but charming home. The outside grounds, creek, tire swing, and pond were beautiful! Our 2 year old grandson loved the "toy room" and small "attic" bedroom off of his parents' room. It was enough room for the 8 of us. (It was a lot of work making up the beds.) The kitchen was well stocked. It was a bit of a drive from the university and from town but it was a scenic drive.

Overall we enjoyed our stay at this cabin. The inside is adorable esp with all the little hidden nooks for the kids to play in. The kitchen is small, esp the stove, particularly for a large family. The outside area was great except the one of the tree swings is broken which was disappointing to the kids. We enjoyed the pond even tho we didn't see many fish.

We enjoyed our weekend getaway at Todd House! We visited with 7 adults and 2 children, and the house was spacious enough for everyone! It is in the perfect location, between Boone and West Jefferson. We were celebrating my son's third birthday, and he had a blast! We spent some time fishing in the pond and relaxing by the wood stove. The owner was very responsive to my emails and even let us delay our check-out time, since it was daylight savings weekend! Overall, great experience! We hope to visit again soon!
