About this house rental
This log home was custom built with all the furnishings and decor of an upscale lodge. You may have see pictures in Cabin Life magazine, where it has been featured several times. There are four official bedrooms with two extra rooms in the basement with beds. There are also 4 full baths and 1 half bath. Large decks on the front and back of house with bench swings. Kids and adults can walk down to the lake behind the house to swim, fish and more. This house is one of the closest homes to the lake available (about 350 steps) and we are located in a wake-free zone, meaning boats need to drive very slowly behind the house.
There is a large fire pit for bonfires and s'mores. The back yard is flat for bocci, volleyball or other activities. My son used to have paint ball fights with friends in the woods directly behind the house.
The dining room table seats eight comfortably. There are 3 bar stools to the kitchen counter for additional seating.
One of the many great features of this house is each of the three floors has separate entertaining space so people can get together in smaller groups if desired. The lower level has a family room and air hockey table and direct access to the back yard. The loft on the second floor is great for games - bumper pool, playing cards, board games or puzzles. There's something for everyone!
There are 4 tvs (great room, basement family room and in two of the bedrooms) should you want them.
Besides being close to the water, you are also close (10 minutes) from downtown Huntingdon - groceries, beer/wine/liquor, restaurants, gym ($5 for the day) and a Super Walmart. We are about 12 minutes from Seven Points Marina if you want to rent a boat/kayake/paddle board or use their water trampoline. We are also roughly 45 minutes from Penn State for football games and other activities as well.
And if you are an adventurer, some of the best bike trails are about 10 minutes away. There are also excellent hiking trails for every skill level. I go down to Juniata College in town and play tennis and my kids have roller bladed around campus. There is definitely plenty to do!
Please note property has exterior security cameras with video and sound recording.

Jill was very responsive and the house had everything we needed for a nice family get away

We spent a week at Raystown Lake and loved staying in this wonderful home. It was definitely a hot week so we loved being able to just walk down to the lake whenever we wanted. All of the beds were comfy and the grandkids loved the toys and play area on the 3rd floor. Definitely a beautiful and fun house to vacation in, and Jill was very helpful whenever I had a question. Hope to be back if we decide to come back to Raystown Lake again!

Love the house. It’s big enough for my entire extended family to stay there and not feel crowded. We have everything we need to enjoy a great time at the lake!

We have stayed in this house for several years. Always feels like we are coming home. Jill, the property owner is always available and takes care of her guests. 100% recommend! We WILL be back.

We have been looking for the perfect place to stay in Parks Orchard for a few years. We have family in Hungingdon and visit often. This cabin is well stocked with everything we need for the weekend, has a well-kept backyard with plenty of room to play lawn games and enjoy the fire pit, and is within easy walking distance to the lake! We had such a great experience relaxing in the cabin, swimming in the lake, and hanging out by the fire; we can't wait to return with our friends and family. The owner and host was accommodating the entire time, even when we screwed up checkout, she worked with us without a fuss. We love returning to Huntingdon to visit family and the lake and staying in this cabin will make each trip even more enjoyable!

To be upfront I can only accurately rate the check in process & communication with host, both were non-existent. Host double booked the property and we only found out about this when I found her number and called the day of arrival asking for specifics to get into the house. We had booked this in March of 2023 for my son’s Penn State graduation May 4, 2024. We were paid in full.
We & other family members had driven 4+ hours to the property when the house was found to be occupied already.
To this point there had only been requests for payment, which I suspect may have been automated because I had asked a couple of questions that were never responded to.
I finally found the host’s phone number, called, left a message & texted her. When she returned my call she stated it never happened before & asked what I wanted her to do. I explained I needed accommodations for my entire family immediately. She apologized but took no responsibility & blamed Vrbo, when she had actually rented it through another platform and did not check Vrbo or block it off.
We had to involve VRBO to help find accommodations for all 8 of us at 5pm on Graduation weekend.
We had food ordered for dinner on Saturday after graduation for us & 2 of my son’s friends and their families.
Ms. Jones effectively ruined our graduation weekend plans that we had booked over a year ago.

The cabin is a great place for a weekend getaway close to raystown lake. I would recommend this cabin to friends and family.

I surprised my mother for her 80th birthday by inviting her family from out of state for a weekend getaway. The house was perfect for several families to be comfortable in their own space. It was clean, had some essentials if we forgot them, and it was super easy to feel at home but also put it back together the way we found it. We brought A LOT of food and there was plenty of room to store until we needed it. There was plenty of room to spread out but also be together. The location offered hiking trails that brought you to a beautiful waterfront. Perfect to get out in nature! Everyone thought the house was amazing so I looked like a Rockstar for arranging it all! So appreciative for owners like Jill Jones for sharing their home with families like ours so we could make special memories together!

Highly recommend! Perfectly secluded with walk to the lake, yet close to civilization and house is really spacious and nice.
We were a group of 5 adults and 2 kids - 3 and 6 year olds, and a 3 year old Bernedoodle.
Everything as pictured and as described.
We loved how secluded it was and path to the lake was a highlight of everyone’s day!
Note that if you have elderly - path to the lake could be hard for them.
Jill has a guest book with many recommendations and we did go to three twelve restaurant and had a wonderful meal there.
We were a small group but I can see how this house would be perfect for a lathe family reunion - it has 3 levels with big bedrooms and each level has their own bathrooms and common areas. Kitchen is huge and has anything you might need to cook a meal and more.
We loved the firepit.
The swings. The decks. Comfortable seating and beds.
Maybe one note would be the towels - guests are suppose to wash before leaving and frankly it’s stressful to wash, dry and put away on the day you are leaving especially knowing that most places don’t have such requirement. However, most of our group brought their own towels so this was not that much of a concern.
Jill let us use the floatees which was great.
And left us farm fresh eggs - which was very nice and made for many perfect breakfasts.
Thank you Jill!

This house was gorgeous, spacious, well stocked. The trek down to the lake is a little tough but we left our kayaks down there with no problems. At night, we had a couple of bon fires. Just a great long weekend with family and friends.

The property and the owner are both amazing. Plenty of space and room for everything and everyone.I rented this cabin for my family as a gift, and we all had an amazing time. The walk to the water will tire you out if you are not in shape, and is difficult if you are taking kayaks or gear down to the lake, but the lake is so clean and beautiful it’s worth the effort! Quiet peaceful area, but close to town if you need anything. I would definitely book again!

This property is stunning and perfect for my family. Great location and we loved the hummingbirds! In the third floor king bed bathroom the sinks are not draining. The kids room on the third floor needs some work (no shade on the lamp).

We just could not get over how beautiful Raystown Lake is. The fishing could have been alittle better. But that’s fishing. We had our kayacks which was great to be able to use them everyday. I would use the boat ramp at Snyders Run If you want to bring a kayack. The trial down to the lake is a bit long to carry kayaks down and back up again. Snyders Run boat ramp is only 15 mins paddle to and from the property. House was big and we had plenty of room for four teenagers and four adults. Over all great time.

The home is absolutely stunning, however, the walk down to the lake was not. It’s a half mile downhill hike to the lake and then you have to hike up hill back to the house all while navigating jagged rocks, downed trees and tree roots. If you or a loved one is elderly, has bad knees, hips or are asthmatic I do not recommend walking to the lake as it is treacherous. As I said the home is stunning but there were directions for where everything went, how to put them back and photos in each cabinet to ensure you did so correctly. My family and I felt it was a little too micromanaged and we’re afraid to put anything in it’s wrong place. Jill was very communicative regarding a light bulb that was out but the problem was never actually fixed and some people had to navigate through a dark stairwell to the basement which can be cumbersome.

Thank you so much. We had the best time!! What a beautiful home ❤️

This property is wonderful for family gatherings. It is lakefront as advertised, however it is quite a steep and long walk down to the water. But once you are there, it is a beautiful and peaceful view. I would have given 5 stars, except for the fact that you have to wash and put away all the towels, and strip the beds before you leave. With a large group like ours and early flights and an 11am check out, it makes an enjoyable weekend a little stressful on the way out.

Very lovely property.

This house had everything we needed, with more than enough room for 15 humans and 2 dogs! We got lucky with amazing weather and we were able to enjoy the outdoor space (fire pit, swing, decks, lake) as much as the indoor space (air hockey, games, movies, quiet areas). Lovely decor throughout. The kitchen was equipped with everything necessary and more! Jill, our hostess, was kind and helpful even weeks before check in. She answered all questions thoroughly and promptly. The house even had a folding table and extra chairs - we were all able to sit down together for a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner. We would love to stay again!!

This is a beautiful home with plenty of space for a large group. Beds were comfortable and everything was spotless. The owner requires that you wash, dry, and put away all towels before departure, which is annoying, especially at a nice property like this. The maximum number of guests allowed on the property is 16, but the owner charged us extra for every guest beyond 10, which seemed arbitrary and unnecessary, particularly given the expense of this place. Again, gorgeous and very comfortable space - just be aware of these policies when you book.

Rained all weekend but very cozy, relaxing weekend. Great property for a weekend getaway!

We had an absolutely wonderful time, and I was so happy to get to share with my whole family. There was more than enough space for all of us, and any amenity that we could think of. Highly recommend!

I was lucky enough to use this place in Aug. with my family & again in Sept with a group of friends. We rented a pontoon boat 1 day, bowling, cooking on the new gas grill, lots of cornhole & time around fire pit. When 3 family's within my family stayed we each had our own level of the house. Very comfortable kitchen to work in. I could go on & on with nothing bad to say. 5 stars all around!

We had an awesome week at the lake. Jones cabin and cove were just perfect for our family. The home was clean and well decorated (felt homey without feeling too Knick-nacky) - they’ve done a great job with the house. The kitchen is well stocked with everything you would need to make your meals at home. The kids liked the rope swing and we enjoyed having a fire out back. The walk down to the lake is a few minute hike. We were able to carry our paddle boards down with a little effort but it was well worth it to paddle on the private and quiet cove! Mountain bike and hiking trails were less than 15 minute drive away. We drove out for some rail trail rides too. We went out to eat a couple of times downtown (again less than 15 min drive) - Stone Tavern has an awesome backyard spot and great food and drinks! The marina has a great little beach too. We had fun paddling around that part of the lake too and scoping out the boats.

It was so relaxing. We enjoyed being on the lake. The girls had their own swimming hole n a couple of the guys fished. We had bonding time at the campfire at night. With (3) levels in the house everyone could get their space when needed. I am sure we will go again.

Excellent communication with owner.

We loved the house! The water is a walk to get to and is downhill so coming back up can be tiring. Our only complaint was having to have all towels washed before we left. We are a big group and we were traveling 8 hours home so this was a problem. We have done a large rental home every year and having to have towels washed, dried and put away was a first. Other than that our stay was great!

Awesome week!
The property was as stated in the description. It was spacious and clean, well stocked, and met our needs. With 10 adults and 6 kids, we had plenty of room. We played games, puzzles, Phillies games, etc indoors, and yard games outdoors. We always bring games that the kids enjoy incase of rain.
The walk to the lake was rough. Do-able, but rough. It was hard to carry the kayaks down. We ended using mostly tubes, which was a shame as the kids (big and small) love kayaking. That walk was a disappointment, but nothing we or the owner can do about it.
We would definitely recommend and would definitely go back!!!
Thanks for opening your home.!

Beautiful home and perfect for our family
This home is definitely beautiful and was a perfect size for our family. We do have 3 young grandchildren and another one on the way which made it a little difficult walking to and from the lake behind the house.

Awesome vacation home.
What a great long weekend. This was a spectacular home. Ideal for multiple families to share. Loved the well stocked kitchen for cooking in. The path to the lake wasn’t the easiest, but doable. Jill is a great hostess.

We stayed at the cabin with two other families to celebrate our daughters’ graduation from Juniata College. It was perfect! Not far from campus and a beautiful place to relax, laugh, and enjoy their last moments together as college roommates.

It was a wonderful time with our 2 grown children & families celebrating Thanksgiving together. The house has enough rooms, beds, and areas for games, crafts, watching football, plus a firepit out back for s'mores and also numerous hikes down to the lake. We also discovered nearby "Woodcock Valley Community Park" for our very own "Turkey Trot" as well as daily exercise/running paths plus playground area to kick soccer balls and climb the jungle gym! A very wonderful time together making memories in a great, nicely kept house! THANK YOU to the owner who was responsive to questions and checked to be sure we were ok!

Our family of 9 adults and 6 children ranging in age from 11 to 8 months had a wonderful stay in this gorgeous, immaculate home. It is so cozy and welcoming. The photos don’t do it justice as it is even more impressive in person. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook an entire Thanksgiving dinner. The kids enjoyed playing outside, especially on the rope swing and hiking down to see the lake. We kept imagining how much fun it would be to stay in this house during the summer!
