My husband booked this rental for me because of the view, which is amazing. I sat on the living level deck from at least 6:30 am to 10 or 11 am through rain and through sunshine. My son, who also needed a break, sat on the top deck and just relaxed. The recreational items at the beach were perfect for us. Beds were comfy and we all slept very well. We're already looking to rebook when we can.

Property is a great location and secluded with lake acess.

The Cottage was the perfect place for family members to stay during our recent get-together. It was within short walking distance from the Lake House, where other family members were staying. In turn, the Lake House guests enjoyed walking down to the Cottage and shoreline to play and splash around in the Lake. The view of Seneca Lake from the Cottage decks is breathtaking!

The property is tucked away and nestled directly on the lake which was the selling point for us. Every evening we sat on the dock and enjoyed the view. There are so many things to do within minutes of the property.

Great weekend retreat. We loved the secluded area, and the lake access was great! The stairs to the lake are very long, however we didn't mind it too much. Our dogs loved the place. I would consider renting the cabin again.

Wonderful home with basic accommodations you need for a family. Amazing decks that are covered. Unbelievable lake access with dock fire pits great Adirondack chairs and multiple canoes kayaks paddle board and peddle boat. Host is extremely nice and is easy to connect with.

Me, my girlfriend and her dog stayed 4 nights and were beyond pleased. We loved the tucked-away seclusion of the cottage, the expansive views of the lake, and the slice of lakefront property for dock fishing and sitting by the fire. As other folks have mentioned, navigating the stairs between cottage and beachfront requires a degree of ability and fitness.
We found the living spaces to be cozy, tidy and cabin-clean, with thoughtful touches for organization and hanging of coats, towels and the like. The kitchen has everything we needed to prepare meals (bonus: outdoor grill with propane supplied), and the furniture inside and out were amply comfortable for relaxing and gazing out over the lake with coffee or wine. The location also affords easy driving access to local wineries, farm markets and creameries, plus the town, trails and green spaces of Watkins Glen.
I appreciated that Michele set clear expectations for our comfort (e.g. bringing extra layers and blankets for the cool April nights) and thoughtfully checked in to see that we were well situated after arrival. We would stay at her property again without reservation!
If you value quiet wooded surroundings, direct lake access, and are comfortable in a relatively rustic cabin space (e.g. you don't mind the occasional bug, using space heaters & electric fireplace for warmth if needed, hand washing dishes) this may be a great fit for you.

Cabin puts you in close proximity to many great places. Please be sure you know what you are renting before you book. If you want seclusion in the forests hillside then this is for you.

Property is clean and rustic. The balconies are great and provide great views of Seneca Lake. The only reason for a 4 star are the stairs. Lots of stairs!! Make sure you are in adequate shape before booking this one. Great lake area to hang out once you are down the stairs.

We used the cottage for extra space for our family of 17 on our recent stay. The young adults really enjoyed the “camping in the woods” vibe without having to rough it, while the older folks and younger kids had the main house. The cottage was comfortable, quiet, and has a fantastic view of the lake from the TWO porches! They really enjoyed the lake and the water was a very nice temperature for swimming.

We enjoyed our stay at the cottage. The house is very comfortable, clean, and beautiful. The lake views were amazing. The beach was gorgeous. We got to use the canoes and the kayaks. We visited nearby Watkins Glen and some local wineries and farms. Definitely an unforgettable stay!

Great location-near Watkins Glen and wineries. The hill and stairs to lake was no joke, but we didn't mind the short walk. Tons of privacy, great views on both levels. Home was fully equipped both indoors and out. Was clean and in generally great shape. We enjoyed our stay.

The cabin is rustic just as described in the listing. Its tucked just far enough into the woods for privacy. It had everything we needed for the three days we stayed. What we absolutely loved about this cabin was the amazing view of the lake off the back deck, the great location, and the lake access. We used the kayaks, paddle board, and swam in the lake. We enjoyed campires every night by the lake. I definitely would recommend this cabin. We hope to return some day!

Beautiful location!!

Property is a at great location. The home was lacking some basic items which made it sub par. The full bed had an old squeaky box spring which made noise even sleeping solo. The hot water tank is small & only delivers enough hot water for one shower at a time. The kitchen is lacking in size and layout and barely has room to prep a meal for 3. Cookware was minimal and some pots were old and worn. All of the waste cans except for those in the kitchen did not have trashbag liners - are the guest expected to do this? The outside grill was found dirty and uninviting for cooking - so I did not use it. Beer cans and cigarette butts were left in the upper fire pit. The exterior deck and steps to the house were not swept. The deck loveseat is old and worn. It seems like minimal effort was put fort to make the place appealing & accomodating. A little more effort and a moderate investment would go a long way in improving this rental unit.

It was a cozy place. Loved the deck and fire pit. Thankfully it was nice enough to spend most of the time outside as the inside was a little small for 6 ladies to all be inside. Owner was very friendly and responsive to messages during the weekend.

This beautiful space is a small gem. Not for the frail, the stairs are real, inside and out. But if you can rough it a bit and make the hike, this cabin does not disappoint. The views are one of a kind and the beach Is spectacular.

Loved everything about our stay, just wished it could've lasted longer.

It was a real pleasure renting this property and the lake house which is offered from the some property owner, it has its own picnic area right on seneca lake and it came equipped with paddle boat, kayaks, canoe and a large 8 person float and we utilized all everyone had a great time even the little 2 year.old everyone asked to check to see about being able to already rent it for next year but after communicating with the property owner sadly it won't be possible next year I have been trying to find some place comparable but have had no luck this is truly a one of a kind 5 star experience.

Perfect time of year! So close to Watkins Glen, if you need anything. Secluded cabin on the lake. Rustic retreat for relaxing. Definitely on my list of places to revisit.

Beautiful view
We fell in love with the view! You will share the parking with the White House that you see when you come in before the railroad tracks. You will also be sharing the paddle boats, Kayaks and canoes. Which we didnt realize we were sharing the parking and swim things until we got there. In the description it does say sharing of lake but I guess we didnt realize that we would be sharing everything but the rental. The view is beautiful looking out off the deck. It's very calming. Quite and peaceful.
The kitchen is small and there are pots and pans you can use. We had to re wash everything before we used it. There was oil spilled in the pots. The stove was tiny and we couldn't use all the burners. As far as I know it got replaced since. I just wish I knew this before hand since we are a large family and went out and bought a griddle. There is 5 beds. 2 queen beds, 1 bunk bed and then the sofa bed. 2 bathrooms 1 has a shower, it's very slippery. The one downstairs had mouse poop on the door to the hot water heater. And mouse poop in the kitchen cabinets. But you are in the woods so I guess its expected. We brought our own bedding because you get charged if you use theirs. The bedding was older and the pillows had a few stains so we were ok with not using them. The main reason I gave a 1 star for cleanliness was we had to sweep and mop the floors before staying. We found socks under the upstairs bed and the livingroom floor was dirty. I get that it's going to get dirty Your in the woods. But it should be mopped between renters and ours wasnt. There is a grill, but the ignition switch was broke, we couldn't use it.
We went down to the water. Great view. Steps down are not bad but a bit slippery when went so becareful. The kayaks, paddle boats and canoes were great. Theres a dock for fishing. Our family enjoyed the lake.
There was trash bags available for trash. As for the trash theres 1 can to the side of the house. You have to recycle and take all your trash in your vehicle up to the White House right as you come in. Along with if you use any bedding. If you do not do this you get a big additional charge after your stay.
All in all it was a nice stay minus some things that made the stay not as pleasant as it could of been.

Beautiful view . There are 80 steps going down to the water and would not advise anyone with a walking issue to do so.

Definitely a hunters cabin. The stairs to the bedrooms were spiral and slippery.
