We spent 2 glorious weeks at this property. Year over year we notice many upgrades such as a portable air conditioner unit this summer (which really helped one particularly humid day we had). Well stocked with paper products and toiletries and as always very homey.
Thanks again we hope to be back soon :)

This is our second summer staying at this cottage and we loved it again. Lots of improvements such as charging outlets for iphones and devices, complementary coffee and tea, lots of TV channels to watch at night and tons of TP, paper towels and cleaning supplies. Hope to be back again soon! :)

We thoroughly enjoyed our week at William and Betty's cottage. The cottage was clean, very comfortable, quiet and well stocked with all the necessities (one of the better provisioned properties we have rented!). There's a fabulous deck offering great views over the lake and space to hang out in the sun by the boathouse. We had no issues during our stay and would definitely come back. A note for those who may want to work out of the cottage - the Internet is more than adequate for emails and video calls but you may have issues if you need to connect to your office system through a VPN.

Great view from cottage. Cottage is well stocked, in case you forget to bring something. Access way from parking to cottage is steep, but we are young enough to be not bothered about it. Both kayaks are good.

Wonderful family cottage. Pictures and photos everywhere made us feel like one of the family. Impeccably neat and tidy, warm and inviting. Thoughtfully stocked with so much more than we expected, from first aid kits, creams and shampoos to herbs and spices in the pantry. Great beds and linens and loads of towels. Great canoe rides on the beautiful lake. Lovely views from cottage and dock.
The only down sides are the steep descents from the car down to the cottage and from the cottage down to the dock. For knees no longer sprightly, these are a challenge.
Absolutely delightful altogether.
Highly recommended.

We were fortunate enough to vacation at this fantastic family cottage again this year … lots of great improvements from last year (new deck furniture, new microwave, new umbrella for added shade on the dock, beautiful planters, etc.) and wonderful/responsive hosts … we hope to be back again next summer! Cheers :)

Excellent Stay
We had a wonderful time at this property. It had all the amenities we needed, beautiful view, nice quiet bay, friendly neighbours and the lake was a great temperature. Lots of cleaning supplies on hand but a newer vacuum would have helped. We hope to be back next summer :)

Beautiful lake Muskoka
Lake Muskoka is a fabulous lake. The property is large, secluded, and beautifully located. The cottage is old, a little run down, musty smelling, and not as clean as I would have hoped for. It is clear that this cottage has housed many happy memories and people grew up here with love. All-in-all we were very pleased with our trip.
The only issue we had was with the communication with the host. There were Internet issues and the response was that there was not much they could do from where they were - and that I should call Bell. IMO - when you pay what we paid per night - it is the responsibility of the host to be quick to respond and helpful.
I have stayed on this very lake for the last 5 years. This place seems over priced considering what you get at other cabins for the same amount. However this place is beautifully located and we had a lovely time.

Peaceful Haven!
This Muskoka Lake property was delightful. The location was beautiful overlooking the lake and the walk through the trees while appreciating the autumn colours was lovely. They kindly had 2 kayaks for our use and we had an amazing time floating past the shorelines, sitting in wonder at the peaceful coves and stopping off to hike in Hardy Lake Provincial Park.
The cabin had all the amenities to cook, relax, sleep comfortably and the owners clearly love their little piece of heaven here as the cabin is filled with family pictures and knick-knacks which make it feel really homey. It was hard to leave!

Relaxing Getaway
We had an amazing vacation at this lake front cottage. It had a rustic feel but with all the modern conveniences. We spent many hours on the water. Thanks to the tips left by the host, we also enjoyed the water ski show - something we have never seen before.

Great getaway cottage on lake.
The cottage was fully equipped with everything we needed, even WiFi! The cottage is private and having a boat house on the water was great. We used the canoe and kayaks every day. We really enjoyed our time and would recommend this rental.

Beautiful spot on the lake!
Pros: Beautiful spot on the lake and view!! Great ammenities with canoe and kayaks, a charming old beloved family cottage.
Cons: very steep driveway, not recommended for people with mobility issues. Cottage could use some updates, like replacing carpets making it easier to keep clean. Caterpillars are really bad this year and they were all over the driveway making it slippery. The table and chairs on the balcony were unusable, covered in Caterpillar droppings.

Was just what we were looking for a quiet little cottage on the water and had everything we needed.

This cottage has lots of room. 3 bedrooms a large living room and a dining area, plus a big deck. The boathouse is beautiful with a new set of stairs to enter the water. It’s a very peaceful area and we enjoyed watching the sunsets from our dinner table and the deck. The kitchen was super well equipped. It was great not to bring linens and fantastic that they left a few dishwasher pods so we didn’t have to buy a whole box for a short stay. Unfortunately we did have issues with both the tv and internet. The owners were responsive and able to get a repairman out quickly. This solved the tv issue but internet is still an issue Normally this would not be an issue at a cottage, but I would caution anybody who plans to work from this home during covid that it is not reliable at this time. Once we were able to access the kayaks and canoe we enjoyed paddling around the beautiful lake. There was a mixup but again the owners were responsive. I would recommend this property to families with older children.

AMAZING view
Rustic cottage with so much character, felt like home, very steep driveway to the cottage, fabulous west exposure dock, the cottage is nestled right in the middle of the Woods and very quiet.

Beautiful property
This cottage was very clean and a great place for our family of 6 to stay for a week. We enjoyed many things about the property such as, deep water for swimming and docking boats, cleanliness of cottage, the kayaks and water sports, the outstanding nature.
The downfall of this property that should be disclosed is the parking and the drive in to the cottage. The road going in to the cottage is very rough and not ideal parking for boats and trailers, we ended up parking our boat trailer at a local marina and paying for that service. The walkway down to the cottage was fairly steep as well.
Absolutely everything about our stay was lovely, excluding the drive in. The owner left plenty of drinking water, and the cottage had all the amenities you would ever need.

Beautiful Location - Disappointing Accommodations
I have rented many VRBO properties and this is my first overall negative experience. I grew up at cottages in the area and appreciate 'rustic' a great deal, but this rental was not acceptable for the price paid.
First the positives however;
The property is in a fantastic location on lake Muskoa. No boat traffic, great water areas and gorgeous sunsets. The kayaks were also a nice bonus.
However;
1. The property is poorly maintained and has some safety issues. The staircase leading to the boathouse has no railing on the steep downhill side and the steps are crooked. The paved access is so steep it is hard to maintain footing when wet.
2. The property was not clean (and we are not a picky family). The towels and linens are very old. The BBQ was so greasy it was a fire hazard to use and had massive flare ups from many many uses since being properly cleaned. (I am a Firefighter and have seen houses destroyed by this). The patio furniture was dirty and completely soaked and had no covers or table cloths and we spent an hour cleaning the chairs and table just to make them useable without getting your clothes filthy. There were two rolls of toilet paper for a four night stay in a three bedroom place so we had to go back to town to get more.
3. The water from the taps is lake sourced and not recommend to drink and we were not informed of this by the owners until I emailed asking about it. There was no potable water supplied on site at all. Nothing was mentioned about bringing bottled water in the property description.
4.Communication with the owners was very slow. Responses from them took more than 48 hours at times by email. No texting or voice was available. The directions to the property are simply wrong as the distance description on Walkers Point Road says 3 Miles when the actual distance is Just over 1 Mile to the turn.
5. The access to the cottage from the parking loop is extremely steep. Anyone with mobility issues of any kind would struggle tremendously. Bringing in and removing gear and bags would be tough if you aren't quite fit. This was not mentioned by the owners.
I struggled writing this review. I don't want to affect anyones income but certain basic standards need to be met.
I hope the owners invest a few thousand dollars in maintenance and hire someone to clean it properly before guests arrive moving forward.

Will be back next year!
I don't usually write reviews of places that we stay at but just wanted everyone to know how great of a property this was. The view is spectacular and the photos dont do it justice. Will be back next year!

Amazing site on Lake Muskoka!
We spent 2 weeks at this amazing older cottage. It is on a quiet bay on Walker's Point with a spectacular western view and magnificent sunsets. This is an older cottage with modern amenities set in beautiful Muskoka woods. It is very rustic but this is what made it so special for me it reminded me of the cottage I went to as a child. Lake Muskoka can be very busy but this area did not have the constant boat traffic that I have experienced on Browning Island.
We rented a boat for the week and it was great having a spot in the boat house. Unfortunately the weather didn't co-operate and we didn't get to boat as much as we would have liked, however, we did get to boat into Bala a couple of times to indulge in Don's Bakery (an absolute must but get there early). There was a kayak and canoe which we made use of in the bay.
The lake bottom was firm sand which is great for anyone who doesn't like soft bottoms. The stairs into the water could be slippery just be aware and careful.
My only caution to renters is that this cottage is on a fairly steep hill which could be a problem if there are any medical issues.
Over all we had an amazing time and will hopefully be back.

Nature Lovers Paradise
Beautiful Muskoka cottage with great privacy. My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and can't wait to go again. The sunsets were incredible and the cottage was supplied with everything needed for a comfortable stay. Loved the peace and quiet. Was only woken up at night by an owl nearby in a tree!

Sunsets like you'd never image.
I am a grandchild of the man that bought and built this property up to what it is today. I have been traveling to this cottege since I was 6 months old, now 26. It has been a special place for our family. There are so many wonderful things to do here and is perfect for spending time with friends and family. You can make your experience as fast pace or slow and relaxing as you choose. My favorite things to do include: laying out on the dock, swimming, canoeing to small islands and frog ponds, hiking, exploring, swimming in Bala Falls, playing cards, board games, cooking out and eating on the porch, renting jet skies, campfires, waterski shows, visiting town, farmers market, watching the sunset and starts at night and spending time with loved ones. Would not spend my vacations any other way!

Muskoka Lake East Bay
We had a great 2 weeks at this cottage. The cottage had all amenities and the location was good for travel to surrounding sites--Gravenhurst, Bala, Port Carling, and Bracebridge. The cottage was spacious and had all items you would expect from a cottage--linens, kitchen utensils, games, etc. etc. Everything we looked for was there. The road down to the cottage was very steep and I would not recommend it for anyone with disabilities. Similarly, the walk down to the water from the cottage was lengthy and not recommended for disabilities. But it was well cleared and steps for those who can hike up and down. No beach for small children. The sunset views were amazing. It was very woodsy and hence lots of mosquitoes but Muskoka Lake is so beautiful, it is a wonderful experience to have a lovely cottage here for two weeks. The owners are very responsive to any problems that may arise during your stay. And there is a local bakery that has amazing cinnamon buns!
