About this villa rental
Our property was listed on VRBO in 2016. This stunning three bedroom, three bathroom villa is located in the Bishop's Lodge Villas adjacent to the Bishop's Lodge Ranch Resort & Spa. There are completely unobstructed 360 degree, panoramic views of the Jemez and Sangre de Cristo Mountains, yet the location is only four miles north of the Plaza!
The home is in the less densely populated, lower section of the Villas, offering the most privacy. We had the first selection of the Bishop's Lodge Villas, and opted for privacy, serenity, and spectacular views. There is a swimming pool (typically open mid-May to October) behind our villa that is shared with only the 6 other villas in our section and is very lightly used. The vast majority of the time it is empty.
The Pueblo-revival style, freestanding villa with wood-beamed ceilings has a fully-equipped kitchen with a gas stove, full oven, microwave and large refrigerator. Meals can be served at the granite counter area or at the adjacent dining room table that comfortably seats six, eight if needed.
The home's large, great room has a leather queen sleeper sofa, TV with a Premium Cable Package, and kiva fireplace. This gorgeous, welcoming sitting area opens onto a large patio where you can enjoy the same breathtaking views as the great room. The gas barbecue grill, and patio chairs and table, offer an inviting dining option.
The three bedrooms are furnished in classic Spanish style. The turquoise and red-accented master bedroom suite has a king bed, TV, and kiva fireplace. The en suite bathroom has both a shower and a whirlpool tub. The middle bedroom has two twin beds and overlooks the Jemez Mountains. The third bedroom is easily mistaken for the master bedroom and has a king bed, TV, kiva fireplace, and lovely views of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains and Ski Santa Fe. Both the second and third bedrooms have a shower/bath tub and separate sink area.
The home is adjacent to 200 acres of the Santa Fe National Forest, and several hiking trails are easily accessible. Many of Santa Fe's over 300 restaurants are within a short drive. Uber taxi service is readily available.
The largest nearby airport is Albuquerque (ABQ), slightly more than an hour away. Flights are readily available from most U.S. cities, and the airport is easy to navigate once you arrive. Rental car service is available, too. It is a direct route via I-25 from Albuquerque to Santa Fe. Once in Santa Fe, the villa is easy to find.
Flights into Santa Fe Airport (SAF) are available from Denver (DEN), Dallas/Ft. Worth (DFW), and Phoenix (PHX). SAF is a 25 minute drive from the villa.
Pets allowed, with owner’s texted approval. Pet fee of $195 PER PET

We all enjoyed our stay in this lovely home and area of Santa Fe. The kitchen was well stocked and we had access to a nice outdoor grill. The owner was very helpful and answered all our questions quickly.

This home was wonderful for our group of 6 - 3 bedrooms with 3 baths. Great view and privacy and our hosts were so responsive. The coffee maker did not work and they immediately got us a new one. Everything worked out so well. Very clean and we were given very clear instructions.

We come to Santa Fe with our family every summer. We always try to rent this villa and have been successful 13 times out of the 17 summers we have been coming to Danta Fe. Steve and Ellen are such wonderful owners and are always avaliable to help with any questions and concerns. This home is well stocked with cookware and anything you would need to fix a great dinner . I cant say enough about how lovely the home is . The views are spectacular. All in all just a fantastic place to be with family. A short drive to the square and many resturants. We love this place and cant wait to come again next summer !!! Thanks again to our wonderful hosts !!! Ths Rhoades Clan 2023

The views from our Villa were beautiful & Steve was always easy to contact via text. That being said, we offer some suggestions for improving future visits for all. There was an unpredicted & uncontrollable plumbing situation that happened shortly after our arrival & it impacted our stay for a couple of days. Hopefully that will not happen again for guests. Some suggestions for the near future is better preparation of the kitchen area for cooking guests—only one kitchen towel & no dish cloths, no spare propane tank when we ran out in the middle of dinner preparations—more trash bags (we ran out & had to buy more)—no kleenex in the house anywhere. Carpet in the twin room was filthy & definitely needed more than a vacuuming (cleaning deposit was large enough to cover this). Screens & patio doors need some maintenance attention. Since there are no ceiling fans, we would recommend purchasing a third fan since there are only two in the house. Also suggest some painting in the dining room area. This is a lovely villa, but could use a little sprucing up!!

We've been to Santa Fe many times over the past 35 years, but first time to stay in this Bishops Lodge Villa. We were extremely pleased with the entire extraordinary experience! We were there May 30 to June 4 and it was some of the best days of our lives! BEST VIEWS we've ever had in Santa Fe, with no other dwellings in sight and spellbinding, panoramic views!!! The villa was beautiful, clean, and spacious, with a fully equipped kitchen and very comfortable beds. The cherry on top was that we got to have our little dog Wally Woo Woo with us! We can't wait to go back and stay in this same villa again! Thank you and God Bless our wonderful hosts!

We had a wonderful week long stay! The property location was so private and quiet, beautiful setting in the mountains just outside of the national forest. Could not ask for a better location! The property owner was great with communication and made the check in/check out process very easy. Furniture and room layouts were great for our family - kids each had their own beds. Kitchen had basic cooking utensils/pots/pans so you can make some meals during your stay. Plenty of linens, pillows, blankets, etc. provided, pool towels too. Having a washer/dryer was a huge plus
We would love to stay here again on our next trip to santa fe!

Steve was a great host. House is perfectly located to be a short drive from all the sites of Santa Fe yet be surrounded by quiet beauty.
All the rooms are generously sized and two of the three bedrooms have fireplaces and beautiful views.

This place was perfect for our group of 3 couples to stay in on our recent visit to Santa Fe. We enjoyed watching the hummingbirds while sitting on the patio. The view is beautiful. The layout of the property was also perfect for us. A place to gather and also a place for quiet if desired.

Stunning Sunsets
The property met all our needs. Many dinners spent on the patio watching the sunset, the community pool gave the kids a perfect excursion to cool off each day, and the views from the main pool were also incredible. A great spot for happy hour while the kids cool off. Bishops lodge was just a short walk down the hill, we fed carrots to the horses, walked the grounds, and snacked and had margaritas on the terrace. The ride into town for dinners and Canyon road was very short and convenient. A very lovely place for our family and friends!

Fabulous 360’ views of the Sangre de Cristos
We were visiting with extended family, ages 4yo through 70 yo. It was a fabulous gathering place. It was close enough to Santa Fe to easily go into town. The view, however, at the condo was so magnificent we’d frequently decide to bring dinner iin and eat on the patio. Highly recommend!!

Enjoying Santa Fe!
We had three generations staying at this property, and we loved it. The house was beautiful (pictures don’t do it justice), and our host was very helpful. It was convenient to everything that we wanted to do, but yet, it was quiet and restful. The views are amazing from every room. We would definitely stay here again!

Awesome
We were 2 families of four. The house was great. The kids shared the middle bedroom where there was space to add a queen inflatable mattress and the 2 master suites were private and spacious. The best part- unbelievable sunsets and a perfectly situated outdoor dining table. There’s a semi private heated pool right next to the home that we used almost every day. We were the only guests there. We took advantage of the scenic hike right outside the door. Santa Fe is a short 10 min drive down the old Spanish Trail. Overall we had a wonderful time and our host, Steve, was informative, thorough, and communicative. We hope to be back!

Great Place
We really enjoyed the villa. Fantastic views and even though you are <10 mins from town, it feels like you are away from it all. Easy access to town and other amenities. Villa stocked as described. We plan on returning for sure.

views can't be beat
We travel to Santa Fe several times a year... and this ranks as a top location for rest and relaxation! The views can't be beat - it is private and yet close to town. Steve is readily available to offer suggestions while visiting SF ... and to answer any questions you might have about your stay. A great experience.

Luxurious Comfort in a Gorgeous Setting
Our extended family of 6 spent 10 days enjoying what turned out to be a perfect spot for us. Based on the property description, the pictures, and the earlier reviews, we had high expectations, but those expectations were quickly exceeded. The house is spacious and attractive, built in a classic Santa Fe style. High ceilings, generously proportioned rooms, and doors leading to patios from every room give a sense of openness. Unlike some high-end properties that we have rented in the past, the house is tastefully decorated and thoughtfully equipped. You'll find a full array of spices in the kitchen, for example, plus cloth napkins and tablecloths, and both gas and charcoal grills (along with charcoal and an ash pit). Then there are the views. The pictures give a sense of the location, but it is even more beautiful, and there are hiking trails almost literally out the front door. Although the house is one of 7 on a gated drive, it sits in front of the other houses, on the edge of a bluff, so it feels totally isolated, yet it is only minutes from the Plaza. The owner was readily available with answers to questions and attention to minor problems that arose, yet he was never intrusive. Couldn't be better!

Spacious and beautiful villa with 360* views
We, four adult women, enjoyed the roomy bedrooms and baths. The living room was a favorite meeting place to talk, relax and plan. Steve has provided books and lists, maps about area. Loved this villa. We grilled dinner, used the kitchen for breakfast. Julie enjoyed sunning by the pool. We had a perfect vacation and then had a lovely place to stay in a great location. We hope to do it again.

Perfect family getaway
We had a wonderful few days in Santa Fe. This place was perfect. It was very comfortable and quiet with a beautiful view. The house had everything we needed for our stay. It is a quick drive to the plaza and all the things Sandra Fe has to offer. Would definitely return.

Gorgeous view with lots of privacy.
We always enjoy this villa. We bring several age groups, and everyone always has fun. We usually come for spring break, and the weather has always been good. The view from the villa is magnificent, and makes you feel miles from everything. But you are only minutes from the square and restaurants. We enjoy hiking right from the villa, and sitting on the patio to watch the sun set. The villa has an open feeling with room for all kinds of activity. It has everything you need for a wonderful vacation.

Sante Fe Villa Supreme
This property not only exceeded our expectations, it was a perfect retreat for our family. Our grown children had their own space, the master was a delightful retreat, and the.common space was beautifully appointed. On top of all that, the view was incredible from all directions. As a painter, I found it to be inspiring. Steve was a gracious and informative host. The list of restaurants and info about them was so helpful! We would not hesitate to stay here again, and are already thinking about our next trip.

Santa Fe Sanctuary
We spent 16 wonderful days at this property and it exceeded our expectations. The Villa is very well kept, the best equipped kitchen of any we have rented previously and the location was perfect. We were within 7 minutes of the Plaza, yet had a quiet retreat with wonderful views all around. Very good for dark skies as well - we were able to take our telescope out on the patio several nights for some excellent star watching! We had a great time here, relaxing, enjoying the views and the outdoors sitting on the patios. Steve and Ellen were extremely congenial and helpful with all questions. We will definitely modify plans to be able to stay at this Villa again.

Santa Fe Family Vacation
We spent a week in Santa Fe at the Bishops's Lodge Villas and absolutely loved it! The villa is located a short and easy 5-8 minute drive to the plaza and Fort Marcy Park, which is a great place to let the kids run around and play. Back at the Villa, which is perched on a hilltop overlooking breathtaking views and sunsets, you can grill and dine al fresco. There is a small outdoor pool directly next door to the villa, and a larger one at the top of another hill that has even more spectacular views. The villa has three large bedrooms en suite and a fully equipped kitchen for all your cooking needs. We will return to this place again and again. Highly recommend it!

Wonderful home, very private, in the Santa Fe hills, beautiful views .. Close to town, so enjoyed the floor plan with separate baths for each bedroom! The owners very helpful and a pleasure to work with .. Would return tomorrow if we could! Plan to return! Hiking out your front door! We have been to Santa Fe many times. This is the best for our needs!

This prpoerty was amazing. I highly recommend it.
Steven met us at the property and gave us a quick tour of the house to answer any questions we might have.
The pictures do not do justice for this property. It is absolutely gorgeous and peaceful. The host response time for any questions i had were quick and was very helpful. The evenings there were quiet and breathtaking. The house was clean and its location is private and secluded, exactly what we were looking for. We enjoyed our days by the pool and our evening in the outside patio watching the sunset while enjoying a glass of local wine.

Beautiful villa!
My family and I had a wonderful stay in Steve and Ellen's villa. It is more even beautiful than the pictures they posted. It is spacious, extremely clean, and there were a number of cozy corners for enjoying the spectacular view. The beds were more comfortable than our beds at home! The living room has a lovely fireplace which we used on an unusually chilly day. There were also a number of thoughtful extra amenities: soap, shampoo, coffee, a list of local highlights and a book of local hikes. There is hiking outside of the front door, and the Bishop Lodges stables are within walking distance. We hiked at the Bandelier National Monument, rode horses, went to the hot springs at Ojo Caliente, visited the Georgia O'Keefe Museum and Folk Art museum, and enjoyed a number of local restaurants. A truly wonderful experience in a lovely location.

Santa Fe Bishop Lodge Villa
We had a wonderful stay at this property. Steve was a very gracious host - warmly welcoming and extremely flexible about arrival / departure times. The house is truly lovely and very well maintained with fabulous views out of the canyon towards the Jemez Mountains. Watching the sunset from the living room patio was really spectacular. All 3 bedrooms have individual baths and very comfortable beds. House is nicely furnished with all the needed amenities to make our family's stay comfortable - including thoughtful extras like shampoo, soap and hand cream. My niece and nephew loved the horses just down the hill at Bishop's Lodge stables. Highly recommend and will stay there again in the future if my extended family is with us.
