Daunted at first by the metal spiral staircase to get to our Treehouse nest, the outdoor stairwell became like a portal- a welcome home rite of passage after a day exploring the wonders of the island; a departing spiral handshake saying I’ll be here to welcome you when you return. The Treehouse had everything we needed and more.

Guess my only real complaint is that We had booked this cabin for three days. We were supply two towels only. The shower was so small, hardy can move in it. The area around the cabin in town/baths or and the Acadia park will worth the trip. If we were to go again we would probably choose to stay else where. We didn’t feel we got what we paid for at 800 for three night.

The property is well priced and located on the quiet side of Acadia Park in Southwest Harbor. Good access to the Park, very clean, and very comfortable!

Super cute and Ann had great suggestions for food and hikes. Walking distance to Charlotte’s Legendary Lobster Pound!

It was the perfect base to explore Acadia.

This spot is a perfect location on the quiet side of the island! We had easy access to everything and it was easy to find. It is great for couples that are exploring outside and need a relaxing space to sleep at night. We did experience some issues with the electricity after the storm that came through because the west side of the island is all connected to a main line. However, both the hosts and the emergency contact were responsive with letting us know about the wait and updates. Something to think about and plan for if you know you are traveling during storm season!

This was a great property and met all of our needs. Loved the quiet location and the beach. The house was well stocked and comfortable. The owners left a TON of information about the area which was very helpful. It is a bit of a drive to Acadia if that is where you are going but we didn't find that a big deal. There is plenty of hiking closer to the property as well. The owners were quick with communication. The check-in and out process was super easy. Do be mindful of the stairs. We walked to Charlotte's Legendary Lobster shack for dinner one night which was fun. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend this as a great place to stay.

This is a really nice place to stay if you like the quieter side of MDI. No frills, but has everything you need.

Overall stay was fine. NOt a treehouse, room over the garage. Deck was unsafe. my husband is a contractor, took pictures incase something happened and would not let us spend any time out on the deck. rotting floor boards and had recently placed haphazard boards placed to support whole structure. Recommend that deck be replaced before rented again. Shower so small could not ;pick up soap off floor wthout body going out of shower. LIked they had a lobster pot as we got lobsters right off the boat and cooked them up!! Loved the area, very quiet. Wished we could have shared the laundry in house next door. Overall property manager very supportive, gave great recommendations of things to do and places to eat. Loved Maine!!

Was able to enjoy all of Acadia without the crowds elsewhere. Cozy with everything we needed.

Walked to the rocky beach (@ 100 yards). Super comfortable bed. Lobster pound serving seafood and ice cream and pie is 300 yards away. We had to break for deer crossing the driveway. 🙂

My partner and I have been planning this trip for months! We got engaged during our stay. ☺️Such a cute place and very close to Acadia National Park and all the cute shops/restaurants in Bar Harbor. The lobster pound is walking distance and is amazing. Everyone was so friendly. Take advantage of the private beach!

We had a great weekend at Anne's place! She was prompt at getting back to us with any questions or concerns we had, and she sent an incredible list of recommendations all over the island for our visit!
The VRBO had plenty of room for two people. The bathroom and shower were small but Anne provided all the amenities we needed for the long weekend.
Everywhere we went from the VRBO was about a 20 minute drive, but it was lovely to be away from the crowds and explore a quieter area of the island.

The property was an excellent base of operations for exploring the park. Beautiful access to the beach, and a very unique property.

Great location! Just outside of Southwest Harbor. Private road, wooded surrounding, private beach. No a/c, 1 fan. Nice deck and walking distance to great lobster stand. Would definitely stay there again!

Very pleasant, comfortable, private and quiet base for exploration of the extraordinary beauty of Mount Desert

Perfect space for my husband and I. We enjoyed being able to cook, but also being close (30 min) to Bar Harbor restaurants. We took the ferry to Swans Island which was a neat experience as well. Great space!

Perfect retreat
The property was just as advertised. It was the perfect retreat for my friend and me to start each day of hiking around Acadia. The kitchen is small but well equipped for cooking breakfast and dinner. It's plenty big enough for two to be comfortable. The WiFi worked - we didn't use the TV. The bed was comfortable. The location is near many Acadia points of interest - even the Northeast side is a short drive. We never saw the property in daylight, so it would have been noice to have a motion activated exterior light, but hand-held lights worked fine. I would definitely stay here again.

Acadia Quietside
The apartment - reached by way of a metal spiral staircase- has what you need for a getaway for two and is in an excellent out-of-the-way Mount Desert Island location; about 30 minutes from Bar Harbor and the north-eastern parts of Acadia. The bed was very comfortable and the kitchen is compact but worked well. The cons are little things: we prefer a kitchen with a few more tools and options, plus basics like spices, oil, vinegar, etc... The bathroom is a little dated and would benefit from sprucing up, but it worked for us. We would book this unit again without question!

Everything was as advertised. Spiral staircase was a little difficult to maneuver large suitcases, but we knew it would be. Owner was very responsive.

The Tree House was perfect for our trip! 400 foot walk to amazing lobster rolls, easy access to the park, and great proximity to Southwest Harbor. We were able to get takeout and enjoy football in a peaceful setting. Great spot for a young couple

Enjoyed staying at the Treehouse. Loved being eye level with the birds. Could not find private pathway access to the coastline, but was in a great location to explore Mt. Desert Island. Plus found public access to shoreline down Cable Road. Loved being able to cook our own food. Appreciated the heaters for the chilly May nights. Cozy place to read and write while listening to the rain. Absolutely recommend if looking for a quiet retreat. Thank you for making this property available!

Perfect base for Acadia travels
This was our first trip to Acadia and we loved staying here. The Southwest Harbor was quieter than Bar Harbor - there were some nice hikes and great access to the beach but it was still in easy driving distance from the rest of Acadia. Ann/Ed made everything super easy. Would definitely stay here again!

Overall decent
The place was clean and all ready for us. We stayed in late September so didn’t get much use of the deck. Not very many amenities and the couch was not very comfortable for 2 adults. Being late September we were likely inside more than those staying in summer. There was no blind or shade on the bedroom window - so be prepared to be up with the sun. The lack of that window covering was probably my biggest issue. Also note there are just a few space heaters if you are staying in cooler weather. The ceilings were sloped which I could see being a bit problematic for tall folks but wasn’t an issue. Location was good we had wanted to be a little off the beaten path assuming places would still be very busy. Southwest Harbor was very sleepy and Bar Harbor wasn’t too busy - if we’d known we probably would have stayed over there in fall but I think swh would be great for a summer stay when things are busier.

Small & Cozy
We enjoyed our stay, very clean, quiet and cozy. Plenty to do in Southwest Harbor and Bar Harbor. Explore Acadia National Park. Our only qualm was no curtains in any windows, you can see into the Cranberry house. But we would stay here again. The stars at night were phenomenal. You can view them from the deck. The sound of the ocean in the background, no ocean view though. But it is an easy drive to the Seawall. Thank you for a great stay

Wonderful place to get away!
Had a wonderful time in Maine and at the Treehouse while we were there. Lots of fun activities to do in the area and after long days of exploring the Treehouse was a perfect place to come back and relax. Very quiet as well as cozy. We will definitely stay again!

Happy Honeymoon
We spent a week at the Treehouse for our honeymoon and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. It is very private and quiet. We did not want to leave! Anne was very responsive to our inquiries and we found her to be a great hostess. We would like to stay here again!

Excellent stay at the Treehouse!
We truly enjoyed our stay at the treehouse, it was the perfect size for 2 people. Everything you need is already there so no need to pack a bunch of extra stuff. It was mostly secluded, there is a neighboring cottage that is beneath the treehouse, but when you are up there you don’t even notice. Overall it was a great stay. Southwest Harbor is lovely, and keeps you away from the hustle and bustle or Bar Harbor, and only 20 minutes drive to down town Bar Harbor.

Great Location - Adequate Space
This is an adequate place to stay in a great location on "the quiet side" of MDI. The owner, Anne, was very helpful and responsive to our needs! The apartment is very small, with a sloped ceiling in every room, so tall folks may not be as comfortable here. (My husband is 6'4)
A couple of improvements would go a long way towards making this space more enjoyable: screens on front windows and/or a screen door (no AC means you need a cross breeze to cool things off), and comfortable furniture for the deck. Because the apartment is small, , and the setting so beautiful, outdoor living space takes on great importance. There were 2 mismatched chairs (one metal, uncomfortable) and a grill on the deck. A pair of comfy chairs and a small table for drinks would really make a difference here! The mattress on the bed feels new and is comfortable, however pillows are old, flat and worn. Update these, too, please!
You can walk through the owners' yard to the beautiful rocky shore, but you cannot see the water from the deck; not sure why "long range views of water and Cranberry Island" was written into the description. Also, there is a house being built next door, so anyone booking this place August/September/October 2018 will hear construction noise all day on weekdays. Perhaps pricing should be adjusted until this project is complete as it does affect the tranquility quite a bit!
I don't like to post critical reviews, but travelers trusting their experience to a post on the internet need as much information as possible. A much nicer option is Anne's Cranberry Cottage next door, well worth the extra $30/night!
