About this house rental
This completely renovated home is located in a quiet tree-lined Jo neighborhood just two blocks from the beautiful University of Puget Sound campus. Guests share the entrance with hosts who live on the first floor. Up one flight of stairs and through a doorway to the second floor, guests have exclusive use of the second floor in this spotless home. This entire floor was added 10 years ago and features two large bedrooms (air conditioning), bathroom with shower, sitting room, and fully equipped kitchen. There is a door at the top of the stairs into the sitting room, which closes off from the downstairs, allowing total privacy.
There is a laundry room located on the first floor, which guests are welcome to share with the hosts.
No minimum night stay requirement. Ample free parking.
No pets or smoking please.
Easy access to local amenities, waterfront restaurants and downtown Tacoma.
This home has undergone a very long and extensive, COMPLETE remodel. All work has been done by us. "This Old House" enthusiasts would be proud. We have striven for an English country cottage look - down to the numerous gardens and hand-planed white picket fence.
To reiterate above information: Guests will have use of the entire second floor where two bedrooms, full bathroom, kitchenette , and sitting room are located.
Hosts live downstairs and share the front door/entrance with guests.
The sitting room has an HD TV and small dining area. There is a fully equipped kitchenette; and a huge master bedroom (queen bed) with HD TV, sitting and desk areas; a bathroom with shower and small tub, fully furnished kitchenette and a second bedroom (queen bed). Guests have full use of the front porch with old fashioned porch swing and wicker furniture - reminiscent of days gone by. There is also a private brick patio with gardens, a water feature, firepit and patio string lights. You have complete access and use of these areas. Enjoy your morning cup of coffee or afternoon cocktails overlooking our lovely gardens either on the front porch or patio.
Parents visiting their student(s) at UPS are always welcome. We are literally two blocks from the main entrance of the Administration Building from our property.
We designed our renovations with the intention of offering UPS parents a welcoming place to stay when visiting their children at the University.
Our downstairs dining room (seats 8) (and full kitchen) can be available upon request for a special meal/occasion. (Parents of UPS students can prepare their favorite meal and/or have them bring a few friends over for dinner). With notice, hosts will make themselves scarce for the evening.
Location: Two blocks from the beautiful University of Puget Sound campus; within one half mile of the waterfront; within walking distance to the charming Proctor District (and STARBUCKS); one mile to Old Town; two miles to the waterfront restaurants and walking trails; and, three miles to downtown Tacoma; 30 miles south of Seattle.
Logistics:
* 45 minute straight shot on I-5 South from SeaTac Airport
We look forward to sharing our home with you.

The unit was very comfortable. The kitchen is nice, and our host had a few snacks for us, and a few things in the refrigerator, including coffee creamer, which I had forgotten at home! So thoughtful! Beds were comfortable. Living room couch a bit old and we sank far down in it. The place even smelled nice!

We enjoyed the spacious upstairs layout, beautiful gardens, charming decor & special touches like the twinkling light displays as well as the hosts’ thoughtfulness ( yogurt, bagels and sourdough English muffins waiting us the first morning after we arrived)
Lovely location, just a stroll down to The University of Pugent Sound.

We spent 2 nights at David & Kathleen’s home and just loved it. Access is easy, and you have the entire second floor of their home to yourself. Bedrooms and bathroom are spacious, beds extremely comfortable, 2 TVs, and kitchen and refrigerator are well provided. This VRBO is also located in a safe neighborhood just 2 block from the University of Puget Sound. If we visit the area again, we’d love to stay again!

Just stayed one night but wished we could be there longer. The rental unit, the gardens and the patio were really comfortable and lovely. Clearly, a lot of thought and care went into the design. The harmony of colors and design elements inside was really striking, and having coffee on the patio, surrounded by flowers and happy bees, was sublime. Kathy made the check in easy, and was a gracious host.
Great location, especially if you are there to pick up/drop off/visit a UPS student, as we were.

We loved our stay at the cottage. It is a 2blk walk to UPS campus and a huge bonus for our busy Freshman. We had plenty of space for the three of us to visit and our kiddo spent the weekend in the 2nd bedroom happily able to go back and forth for various things that required her attention a few times on the weekend (clubs etc). We cooked breakfast a couple of mornings and a dinner one night and had everything we needed to accomplish this with a quick trip to metropolitan grocery. We definitely are checking our calendar to get our dates in order to reserve our dates for next fall and Choir concerts.

Beautiful neighborhood. Amazing thoughtful hosts who provided breakfast food and fresh flowers.
The pillows were perfect! Sweet decor and comfy couches. Kitchen was well appointed! 5 star accommodation. The gardens were our favorite as we were greeted with their fragrance as we arrived each evening. If you like a tranquil comfortable setting, this is the place for you.

Charming well appointed upstairs apartment with plenty of space. Close to campus and places of interest. The owners are friendly and welcoming without being intrusive. The front porch is a beautiful place to sit and read or chat about your day. I had a very pleasant and relaxed stay while visiting with my daughter.

Kathleen and David were the perfect hosts - friendly and helpful. The apartment, and the bed, were extremely comfortable, and the neighborhood was charming and walkable. A lovely coffee shop was a 10-minute walk, and we enjoyed Peaks and Pints - a 5-minute drive.
We were visiting family and hope to stay here again!

A friend and I stayed at Kathleen & David's second floor VRBO while in town for a wedding. The property was clean, well decorated, and very comfortable; the pictures really don't do it justice! Kathleen is a wizard at decor!
Both Kathleen and David were very friendly and accommodating, and the home is in a lovely neighborhood within walking distance of several local boutiques and a sweet coffee shop. I would stay here again in half a heartbeat; we had a wonderful time!

Beautiful and charming decor (such as string lights and flowers on ledge by stairs leading to upstairs apartment where you stay), super clean, comfortable bed, FULLY stocked kitchen (including breakfast goodies), kind and easy to communicate with host, lovely landscaping, easy walk to University of Puget Sound. Would happily stay there again!

Quiet, safe neighborhood, well appointed (spoiled with bfast in the fridge... Thank you!), perfect for 2 friends attending a conference at the convention center.
Beautiful garden, lots of space in bedrooms, comfy bed! The shower head is very low due the slope of the ceiling and would be a challenge for someone tall. OK, for me at 5'4".
Close to UPS and quick drive to convention center. Easy! Fantastic sushi place just minutes away.
Thanks for a relaxing place to stay while here in Tacoma.
