Farm house is the real deal certainly has to be one of the oldest in the area and has the features we’d hoped for - real beams, wide plank floors, doors and trim. Well maintained and clean. Short walk to the lake if you are up for a stroll. Kitchen recently done. Like many older homes its set close to the road. Convenient to ludlow.

We enjoyed staying at house. Perfect location to the dock. The house was VERY WELL STOCKED. I brought a lot of our own stuff but never needed it. The owners were very responsive to any questions I had and very thorough. I would highly recommend this property for your next stay. We can't wait to go back!!!!!

Having vacationed on Lake Rescue - in this same home several years ago (different owners) we are familiar with the area and love it. This home is an antique farmhouse with attached barn. Dave and Carolyn’s attention to details for improvements is excellent. The kitchen is remodeled with very nice appliances. Cabinets are so well stocked with cookware, bakeware, kitchen tools, utensils, steak knives, mixing bowls, storage containers! I have always packed up half my own kitchen with items such as these having found them to be of poor quality or not in the kitchen at all in our rental. We literally needed nothing.
Bedding, mattresses, towels, are new(er) and of nice quality. Again, I needed none of what I had packed. They even have beach towels available. They have signage (small, respectful “hints) posted indicating appliance instruction, light switches etc and a book with detailed descriptions including a “checkout checklist” that I found very detailed and helpful.
We spent our time boating, swimming and just plain relaxing. We dined on the deck. We hope to return next year!

A wonderful home !
The house and property are very nice. Very New England - old building carefully updated. Short walk downhill to the lake. Kayaking on the lake was excellent in mid-October - quiet and peaceful. Very fine bedrooms and bathrooms. The jetted tub was a treat! The kitchen was new and well stocked. We appreciated the cable TV and WIFI. The owners were terrific! They found our lost key and mailed it back to us. We would definitely return to this property.

Loved it so much we came back!
We stayed here last year during the height of feeling nervous about COVID. The large, well-laid out house allowed our 2 families to have enough room to separate. We came back this year and the host had responded to some of our feedback (drying rack!). The house has beautiful, antique finishes, but all the comfort of a modern property. (Beautiful kitchen, big TV, jacuzzi tub.) The shared dock is no big deal and our crew had a great time swimming and boating. Carolyn is VERY responsive via text-- made it feel like we were staying at a friend's place.

A beautiful piece of Americana
What a wonderful piece of history … post and beam construction, beautiful antique furnishings … and the perfect touch of modern amenities. The sylvan setting was idyllic and the lake so peaceful in the morning … and filled with laughter in the afternoon. Thank you Dave and Carolyn!

great farmhouse in Ludlow
Our family had a wonderful stay at Carolyn & Dave's home. Carolyn was super responsive and stayed in touch the whole time to make sure we got settled in ok. The house was very clean and well stocked. The lake/dock is a short walk from the house down the hill and was great to relax at. Overall we had a great time & would definitely stay here again.

Cozy lakehouse vacation
Dave and Carolyn's house was the perfect LDW getaway. Our group of 5 (plus baby and 2 dogs) had plenty of room to spread out. We enjoyed kayaking on the lake, hiking Okemo, and grilling/cooking meals at the house. The house is incredibly well-equipped compared to many rentals we've stayed at - tons of towels, paper products, and kitchen basics (and a well stocked game closet!). As some reviewers have mentioned, a few of the beds could use upgrading but seems like those are in the process of being replaced. Communication was very good throughout the stay. Recommend!

lovely weeklong VT getaway!
dave and carolyn's farmhouse is beautiful and charming! we had an absolutely wonderful time with our 2 girls and our friends and their 2 boys swimming, kayaking, hiking, swinging on the tire swing (a big hit!) and making s'mores over the campfire. everything was clean and well-appointed, and the hosts were very communicative. 2 things to note: 1. the house is right next to the road as many VT farmhouses are, so there is quite a bit of early morning traffic noise if you're sleeping in one of the front bedrooms, but a white noise machine and earplugs solved that after the first night. (it might be nice to provide both of those for guests!) blackout curtains in the downstairs front bedroom would also be nice as it's fairly bright. 2. the lake is a little further away than i understood from the listing and photos, but it didn't bother the kids at all. overall: highly recommend!

Lovely house, wonderful lake
The house is charming and comfortable, and fans in every room kept us comfortable on a few unusually warm days. The lake was refreshing but not too cold. Plenty of nearby hiking trails and waterfalls and swimming holes as well.

We had a very pleasant week in Carolyn and Dave's beautifully appointed farmhouse in Ludlow. There was plenty of room for our family group of five adults and two kids to sleep comfortably in the four bedrooms, gather for meals in the great room, and spread out when we needed some quiet time. The kitchen is newly renovated and well stocked for cooking. The house is not air conditioned but has a fan in every room, so we were comfortable except on the hottest night of our stay. The house is right on Route 100, and there was traffic noise at times.Access to the lake is down a short path from the back yard. We were told that the dock is shared by eight households, but we only encountered one other person the whole time we were there. The lake is shallow at the entry point, so it was suitable for the little ones, and the water was clean and refreshing. We made one visit to Camp Plymouth State Park, a few miles north, which has a sandy beach, a playground, and hiking trails.Thank you, Carolyn and Dave, for making your home a welcoming retreat with everything needed for a great stay!
