We recently had the pleasure of staying at Poplar Lodge, and it truly exceeded all of our expectations. From the moment we arrived, we were impressed by the immaculate condition of the home and the thoughtful touches that made our stay comfortable and enjoyable.
The location was ideal, providing stunning views and easy access to Bryson City and Fontana Lake. We enjoyed the beautiful scenery each morning and ending our days with a relaxing evening on the porch. The cabin was spacious, well-decorated, and equipped with everything we could possibly need. The kitchen had all the essentials, making it easy to prepare meals, and the cozy living area was perfect for unwinding after a day of exploring.
What really stood out to us was the host’s attention to detail. From the soft linens to the well-stocked amenities, it was clear that they put a lot of care into ensuring we had an exceptional experience. Communication was seamless, and the check-in/check-out process was a breeze.
We personally had the opportunity to meet Thurman and Freddie (the owners) and they are the sweetest people on the planet. Ginger was phenomenal and was always responsive before, during and after our stay.
I highly recommend Poplar Lodge and Whispering Pines Deluxe Cabins to anyone looking for a perfect getaway. We can’t wait to return!

This is the best cabin we have ever stayed in! The cabin is exquisite with all the hand carved details. Location is secluded and exactly what we needed. Highly recommend!

Everything was exactly as described. Loved the remote / private feel to the cabin. Process for check in was easy, everything was clean and working. Communication with the owner / manager was excellent. They provided a GPS link that took us directly to the cabin (cant always trust GPS in the mountains). The only thinkg i would say is please note that the last 1/2 mile or so of road is actaully gravel road. Did not matter to us, we actually enjoyed the rough mountian road vibe it had (we were in our Jeep), but in case you are driving a low profile sports car, just wanted to share that. Your sports car will make it, just go easy.

Overall nice cabin. Very clean.. some bulbs need replaced and the hot tub was not enjoyable as it was very slimy and nasty. I would recommend if you want food to look early. Was a good ways out. Overall i give it a 4 star.

This was just what my parents, my husband and I needed. It was very peaceful, clean and beautiful. The check in process I was able to do before we arrived. Ginger was wonderful with communication and very nice. A place we would love to rent again!

The cabin is very private and has beautiful view in the morning. Very clean and nice accommodations. Internet was not working when we were there and there is no cell coverage which was actually very nice. My wife and I enjoyed our stay!

The cabin was just how it was listed. Beautiful and clean. I don't recommend doing much cooking as the utensils and space to prepare food is very limited. We were just trying to cook some eggs for breakfast and the pans were not in good shape. I needed a strong scrubby to clean before using and all I had was dish rag. The microwave over the stove is still non-functioning. I read comments from previous renters about the microwave and I really thought this would have been replaced before we got there. A small microwave sits on the very limited counter space. They have salt /pepper and that is all in the cabin. You have to bring everything that you need to cook with. I have stayed in many cabins and they have supplied Pam spray, spices etc. Its the little things that make your stay more enjoyable, stress free and memorable. The mountain view was very limited. The hot tub was nice but the jets were not strong. We really needed the jets after hiking all day. The place is very nice otherwise. Thanks for allowing us to stay at your cabin

Very nice. Quiet. Peaceful.
Beautiful morning views with your coffee.
Lots of room. Soak your stress in and out
while sitting in the hot tub with a Mountain View.
Can’t wait to to return🙃❤️
A wonderful end to our Sept celebration trip 2022. Teresa and Perry

Bad road and location. Many doors won’t close. Light switches upside down. Scared to use fireplace because of written warning placed on the wall. Not enough nice outdoor area for activity

Couple Get Away
My husband and I enjoyed our time exploring the Smokey Mountains and the Bryson City area. The cabin fit our needs perfectly and had everything we needed. We hiked, rented a boat at Lake Fontana, hung out by the Little Tennessee River near the cabin, and enjoyed eating/shopping in Bryson City. The driveway to the cabin is steep but manageable. I recommend doing all your grocery shopping on the way in and to grab a bag of ice. Once you get to the cabin you don't want to have to leave to go back into town. The ice maker worked but was a bit slow. Of course it was also hot when we visited and we like our drinks cold. The internet worked but only in certain spots in the cabin. The owners were quick to respond about any questions we had. Nice place to get away from everything and enjoy nature!

Poplar Lodge near Great Smoky Mtn Park
This beautiful cabin was well appointed, very very clean, great porch overlooking a mountain view, and pretty convenient to Bryson City and Smoky Mtn Park. For someone wanting privacy in a wooded mountain setting as we were, --perfect. The driveway to the cabin would be difficult for a low slung sports car. We really liked staying at Poplar Lodge and would do it again.

Cabin was absolutely great. Very remote location but easy to get to Bryson City and other locations around.

We had a wonderful stay at Poplar Lodge. It was exactly what we were looking for to have a relaxing spring break. We really enjoyed staying on the North Carolina side of GSMNP as it was much more low-key and not nearly as touristy as the Tennessee side. Bryson City, about 20 minutes from the cabin, was a great little town. The cabin was exactly as referenced on the VRBO site. Our 6-year-old enjoyed the table games, time in the hot tub and star gazing (so many shooting stars!). The driveway into the cabin is no joke, and thankfully, our SUV handled both going out and coming in well (we didn't attempt it at night). We had some communciations with the owners throughout our stay, mostly around the fireplace pilot light going out on account of high winds, and everything was taken care of efficinetly. All in all, we highly recommend and can't wait to go back!

We had a great time. The cabin is very isolated, but still within 20 minutes of Bryson City, which is just what we needed. It’s a great place to unplug and there are numerous things to do within an easy drive. We loved our time there.

Loved the cabin itself but the description of the available games was a little misleading. Was expecting a game room with pool table and ping pong table not a 3 in 1 mini table on the back porch. Corn hole and hot tub was fun though!

Clean, quiet, relaxing! The fire place and the jacuzzi were excellent! My grandchildren counted 62 bears in the cabin…a fun game for children on a rainy day. Very close to The Polar Express

Loved the cabin, it’s secludedness, and how pet friendly it was. The cabin was very clean, and the fall decorations were a nice touch. The kitchen could have been more well stocked…there was no cork screw, a cracked measuring cup, a microwave taking up the already limited counter space (range microwave out of order), the light over cook top was not working, and mismatched glassware. The fire pit was also in almost unusable shape.

The cabin was great so peaceful and relaxing. The drive way to the place is a little steep but well worth the drive. Very quiet beautiful views from the deck.

We loved the Poplar Lodge! The cabin was spacious and spotless. The deck was a wonderful place to sit in the mornings or evenings and look out at the mountains and we enjoyed the hot tub several times, as well. The cabin is well-appointed, including a washer/dryer, modern kitchen and excellent showers. The decor and furnishings are whimsical and delightful. The cabin was spotless and the check-in and out was seamless. The road to the cabin is a steep, narrow dirt road and probably not the best choice for nervous drivers, but we become quite accustomed to it. Renters should be forewarned that there is no cell service at the cabin and the internet isn't great (don't expect to have multiple family members streaming Netflix), but that gave us more opportunity to play checkers on the porch, read, bbq and enjoy the hot tub. (There is television with a full range of channels.)
The cabin is about 15 minutes from Bryson City and the Deep Creek entrance to GSMNP and another 15 minutes from the Nantahala Outdoor Center, which was perfect for us. We enjoyed hiking, tubing and a whitewafter raft trip with NOC. There is a large supermarket in Bryson City, as well as restaurants, coffee houses and brewpubs. A great place to vacation if you enjoy the outdoors.
We will absolutely stay at the Poplar Lodge again on a return trip to Bryson City.

We enjoyed our stay in this cabin thoroughly. It was one of the most peaceful places I have ever been. It is tucked away in the woods where we were able to enjoy seeing the wildlife.
The cabin itself is absolutely beautiful. The craftsmanship was amazing. It was also very clean and comfortable and the hot tub was a plus. Not too far away is a great place to go kayaking or swimming. We also enjoyed fishing and hiking.
Bryson City was easy to access for anything we needed. I highly recommend this cabin if you are looking for a peaceful getaway.

The stairs from the upper parking need to be repaired.. There is danger of falling because of rotted wood . The front railings need to be replaced for the same reason. The interior and decks are in good shape and we found the cabin to be charming, comfortable and welcoming.
