Great location. Outdated appliances and furniture.

Had a great week on Mount Desert Island, Maine! Stayed in a house that was perfect for our large family. It was spacious, neat and clean. Our host always got back to us in a very timely fashion to any questions we had, from the booking process through our stay. Its location was in a peaceful area that was easy access to everywhere on the island. We hope to return again!

The house had lots of room to spread out but stay together. Big open space concept living area (kitchen/dining/family room) and enough bedrooms and bathrooms for my wife and I plus our 2 adult sons and guests, and Don't forget the pup. The location is beautiful. It's set well off the road with a nice back yard and a fantastic view of Cadillac Mt. from the quiet deck. It's 10 minutes from Bar Harbor if you want to dine out or shop but far enough that traffic and crowds are left behind. If you want to hike (that was our goal) you are a 10 minute hike down the road to the Cadillac South trail head and a 2 mile hike to Thunder hole and the Gorham Mt. trail head. Although we could have taken the Free Island Express shuttle to almost anywhere on Mt Desert Island we never ended up needing it. Did I forget to mention you can get a lobster roll right across the street at the Otter Creek Market. Our only complaint (and it's not really a complaint) is that Air conditioning would have been nice cause we were there during a very hot week but there are plant of fans in the house and it cools off a bit after dark. Susan was quick to answer any questions. We are planning vacations to other National parks but if we decide to return to Acadia we would very much like to stay here again.

This location is perfect for both Acadia and Bar Harbor. Great access to trails without enduring the Park Loop Rd.

Location was easy to access but set far back enough from the road that you didn't notice the cars going by. My son loved the playground we could walk to in under a minute, and the toddler toys in the back yard. Clean and comfortable. Easy 10 minute drive to Bar Harbor. Hope to stay here again soon!

Clean, convenient, and pleasant place to stay, near some of Acadia's best spots (Thunder Hole, Seal Harbor, various gardens). Two doors down from a nice playground (great for the under 5 crowd) and directly across a convenient market that serves lobster dinners. What more could you ask for?

We had a lovely stay with all the amenities and space for a family group with multiple young children. Being so close to the Acadia Park Loop road, Island Explorer bus stop and a quick drive into Bar Harbor made our week easier and more flexible with time. Lots of great space for the kids and everyone to enjoy! Thank you so much.

Property was as described.....and fairly close to Bar Harbor...would stay here again.

The location of the property is amazing. Next to the otter creek general store, 3 miles from seal harbor beach, which is amazing at low tide! Bar harbor center is just 10-15 minutes down the road. Also close to trail heads as well. Unfortunately there is a lot left to be desired in the house itself. It is well equipped with all the kitchen essentials, but everything is dated and well used, and it is almost impossible to cook on the pans. The oven, stove and toaster are super power and took awhile to get used to, not a problem there. The grill is falling apart, the covers for the burners are absolutely destroyed, there is rust everywhere. We love to grill, so that was a huge disappointment. If you are planning on getting a good nights sleep in a comfortable bed, you won’t get it here. The beds are really terrible, the most uncomfortable bed I’ve ever slept in, as well as everyone else in the house. The pull out couches are disgusting, stained mattresses, no cushion, smelled of moth balls. The furniture is all dated and stained and need to be replaced. We did spend a decent amount of time in the house because of the weather, if it was nicer out we wouldn’t have been there much due to being uncomfortable, even sitting on the couches. There was also a section of dvds and vhs but no way to watch them, and most of the games left didn’t have the full game pieces.
Overall it was a good stay, really needs updating and it would be spectacular.

Birthday trip with the grandchildren
Easy to find and check in, it was clean and roomy, backyard is large and has beautiful wildflowers. Location was convenient but also private, 15 minutes to downtown Bar Harbor and easy access to Acadia and trails.

Great Stay
This house has amazing views of the mountains and the trail heads are a short walk away. The living room is perfect to hang out in after a long day outside and the yard is big enough to set up games like corn hole. It was a great place to stay, rooms were comfortable and clean, and the kitchen had everything we needed.

House in Otter Creek
House needs updating and new furniture. Kitchen needs an overhaul of utensils and pots and pans.
In general the house needs TLC from owners.
The location is great and the owners were very responsive to our communication.

This property has great access to all that Acadia has to offer. We appreciated the privacy of its location in Otter Creek Village and the convenience of the market across the street. The house is pretty new and rooms are spacious This was a great home base for our family.

Family Vacation
Great location to Bar Harbor/Acadia National Park. Sue was extremely helpful and great to work with! We loved staying at her home. Plenty of space for my family to be comfortable. Would definitely stay again! The house was clean, sheets/blankets were provided. Great fire pit to sit outside at night and enjoy! There was a store across the road, which was super convenient, this was a huge plus! We were able to support a local business and get everything we needed without having to drive!

Great, quiet, and convenient location
Easy 10 minute drive to everything we wanted to do. Plenty of room and everything we needed on property. Grocery across street is nice.

Great location but unclean home
We loved the location of the property but the owner needs to invest in new clean furniture, stock the house better with towels & washcloths, pots & pans and hire better cleaners. There were cobwebs everywhere & black mold behind the toilet. Just a little bit investment would make this a great property. The couches were so filthy we had to cover them with blankets in order to sit on them. Like I said great location but house needs talc.

Great home-base for Acadia trip
The property is well-located near hiking trails, a cute little convenience store, and the main Park Loop road that brings you throughout Acadia National Park. Sue was helpful in recommending hikes and we loved being able to see the stars at night while sitting around the firepit in the back of the house.

Great Location
Was super convenient being right across from the market. Being located on the island also made it a short drive to all of the relevant attractions.
Would recommend!

The location was perfect.
Negatives: Beds were very uncomfortable and made these squeaking noises every time you moved. The couches were uncomfortable and in need of replacing. Also, it would have been nice to have more towels and better pots in the kitchen.
Positives: There was plenty of room for four adults and a teen to have their own space. The location was perfect for us and the views from the deck were spectacular.

Hikers base camp
This was our family vacation before sending my oldest to college. This home is very close to many trails head with varying difficulty. It is out of the main stream of Bar Harbor but close enough to enjoy the town or hop on a bus to spend time in different locations. The house itself is pretty basic. The beds were comfortable and there is enough room to sleep 10 comfortably including the 2 full size sofa beds. The couches have no support for sitting comfortably. We mainly just use it for a base to sleep and enjoy a meal. Because the house is set back off the road the star display at night is outstanding and the view of the Acadia National Park breath taking.

Perfect location for hikers
If you want a place where you can get directly into the mountains, this is it! From this house we hiked up the South Ridge of Cadillac Mountain, to the North Ridge - all the way on trails into Bar Harbor. We also did a nice hike that started at Sand Beach, up the Bee hive, over Gorham Mountain, to the Otter Cliffs and through a surprise shortcut path right back to our house. You can't beat this location. Not only can you get out quickly for short or long hikes, you can also hop on or off the Island Explorer Bus that stops right outside the house.
The house itself was great, too. We stayed with my parents, adult brother and our young son. Everyone had their own spacious bedroom (the photos don't quite convey how large the rooms are). The kitchen was well stocked (though the pots could use some updating and deep cleaning) and the appliances all were in good working condition. The house had lots of travel guides, maps and tourist information - so we didn't need to look anything up. The living room couches were a bit tired and saggy, but there were other adequate seating options, too. The beds were comfy and we even got a change of sheets (which was nice because we needed the flannel early in the week and the cotton sheets when it got a little warmer).
I don't view this to be negative, but some may - there was no cell phone reception. However, they have a phone there for local calls and emergencies. Honestly, I loved not being able to stay connected while I was on vacation, so it didn't bother me. The internet wi-fi was fast and reliable, so if you must...you can.
It was great to have a rental with nice towels, linens, toilet paper and basic soap supplies too. I thought the towel allotment was more than adequate, especially with the washer and dryer available.
Thanks - if we're going to Acadia next year, we'll definitely book again!

New home with excellent mountain views
We stayed here for a week in September . First, the pros of this property. The location is very convenient to the park entrance and many of the trails we wanted to hike. It is also an easy drive into Bar Harbor. It is in a nice quiet area that was easy to find. The mountain views from the deck are fabulous, and we enjoyed several dinners out there on the picnic table. There is a nice yard. The Otter Creek Market is literally steps away, and there is a very good selection of food and supplies here at reasonable prices. This is also where the Island Explorer bus stops with pretty frequent stops here. The kitchen is well supplied. The bedrooms are spacious.
Now, the cons. The house and kitchen appliances are new, but the furniture and bedding are not. The beds weren't real comfortable. The TV in the living room is about a 17" screen, and is hard to even see from the couch. The DVD player wasn't hooked up, so my husband figured out how to hook it up so we could watch a movie. There was no remote, so we had to get up every time we wanted to pause it or back it up. The TV in the upstairs bedroom was even smaller. Make sure you take extra towels and washcloths, because you only get 1 per person. Even with a washer/dryer, that wasn't enough for me for a week's stay. There was no instructions about what we were supposed to do when we arrived, and there was no house number on the property, so we weren't sure if we were even at the right place. We had to call the owner, got no answer, so we went to the nearby market, and he told us that was the rental. Security deposit was returned about 35 days after check out after an e-mail prompt from me. The last thing, which is probably trivial-there was an envelope on the kitchen counter from the maid asking for a tip. I though this was tacky. I would have left more had I not been prompted to do so.
Overall though, spacious, and would easily accomodate a large family group. Very convenient location. Photos accurately depict the home.
