The house is so great, and right in Cahuita, that it was staying in our own little, walkable town. And the air conditioning was key in beating the humid heat! However the best thing might have been Troy, our host. He gave us so many great recommendations for things to do, places to eat, travel tips, all of it. I told him I was vegetarian, and he messaged me about an hour after we had checked in with good spots for vegan/ vegetarian options. He truly goes above and beyond, and can’t recommend this home more strongly.

We had a wonderful stay in this beautiful home! It was easy to walk to everything in town. We woke up the first morning to a handful of monkeys hanging out and playing next door. We couldn't have asked for a better stay in paradise and look forward to our return!

We traveled as two couples and thoroughly enjoyed our time in this property in Cahuita. The town is quiet and easily walkable. We enjoyed the national park, meals out at Cahuita Taste and Sobre las Olas by Gondwana. We even managed a yoga class with Wendy and a surf lesson on Playa Negra. Communications with host Troy were prompt and helpful which made our stay even more enjoyable.

Troy is definitely a "super host." Terrific communication. He really wanted us to enjoy ourselves. Pura Vida amigo!.
We loved that the house was in easy walking distance of the national park entrance for hiking and the beach, but a quiet area. A lot of security, including parking and staying behind a locked gate. The weather is hot so air conditioned bedrooms really make a huge difference. Lots of other places to stay in Cahuita clearly don't have that. Fan worked well in the kitchen/seating area. We made all our breakfasts, prepared lunches to take with us, and made full dinners in the kitchen. Really appreciated the filtered water dispenser. Very comforatble to eat outdoors. The table is under cover and has a light and ceiling fan that make it comfortable even if it's hot out in the sun. There were monkeys, birds including hummingbirds, and butterflies around. We were only 2 but having 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms would make it great for 4. Just bring your own beach towels, shower soap, and shampoo.

Troy and Jir were amazing hosts! So kind and friendly. They shared great tips about the local community and responded almost immediately to any questions we had. They made it clear that they wanted us to have an enjoyable stay - and we did! The house was clean and perfectly located with a beautiful garden and outside porch. 2 rooms with direct access to bathrooms and a loft space for a third room. We saw plenty of sloths and monkeys and the beach in the park was one of the nicest beaches i have been to. Thanks for a great stay!

Troy was a great host. Very accommodating. The property was the best. Easy walk to the beach. Monkeys were visible almost everyday from the porch. Would definitely recommend a visit to Troy's Casa.

Fabulous house, perfect location. Walking distance to the park, the beach, the town, but far enough away that there is little to disturb you but the howler monkeys. Despite a small setback with the property, Troy was immediately communicative, and offered numerous solutions, and was generous in his reparations. Overall, our stay was thoroughly enjoyable and relaxing. If we return to CR, we will spend our entire vacation at Troy's place.

We were very pleased with the house. Troy was super attentive and responsive to any of our needs. Being so close to town and various beaches was a huge plus. The house does not have air conditioning, which from what we saw, many places in the area also do not. There are plenty of fans, but my husband has a hard time with the heat so if you are the same way, just beware that it gets hot. (I mean obviously, it’s a tropical jungle right?) I was fine with the temperature but I love being warm. Overall it was a wonderful place to stay and I would highly recommend it.

Caribbean vibe
We love this property and it's location. We actually stayed here two years ago and liked it so much that we came back to visit again.
Troy is an awesome host we felt he was honest, helpful and attentive.
The people in this area are extremely friendly and helpful, plus the food is really good.
The property is located within walking distance to sandy beaches and the state park which is an amazing experience.
It is a Costa Rican vibe without a lot of tourists. Worth the effort to come here.
Thanks again Troy for everything you were great.

This property is nice but not "luxurious". The photos are cleverly taken to imply more space than there is. The porch doors no longer open but that wasn't an issue because the key was missing. The "fans in every room" are mostly small table fans like you would purchase at Walmart. There are ceiling fans in the two bedrooms. The property was not aired out prior to our arrival and as such was well over 100' F inside. After hours of leaving all fans on with all windows open, we were able to achieve mid-80s temperature by around 8:30 PM. There was also an overwhelming smell from cleaning products to the extent that I experienced an immediate, unrelenting migraine and flare up of my asthma. The property is not "right next to" the beach. It is a short drive through the small town but not a realistic walking distance. The cleanliness was moderate but there were the remainder of other peoples' hygienic activities in one of the showers and dirt on the walls in high traffic areas. We planned to stay here for a week. After driving 5 hours to reach this destination and leaving immediately to try to address the temperature and air quality issue for 3 hours, we ended up packing everything back in our car and driving another 5 hours to another location where we could stay. This was a safety issue, not a comfort issue. During more moderate temperatures and for people without sensitivity to wood oil/varnish products, this could be a nice place. This isn't our first time in the area or in this environment and we assess this place as outside of the norm in terms of conditions. We have not heard from the property owner regarding any of our concerns or our request for a partial refund.

Wonderful home!
This home is exactly what our family of 4 (2 young children, 7 & 11 yo) needed for our stay in Cahuita! It was comfortable, had all the basics and is in a great location for going out and exploring all that there is to explore in this region of Costa Rica. All questions we had before and during our stay were answered promptly. We loved hearing the Howler Monkey's and watching them in the trees right outside! The community is WONDERFUL and exactly what we wanted. We can't wait to return!

Amazing place to stay. We could hear the monkeys as soon as we pulled up. The place is very secure and nice. Walking distance to the national park. Troy was very helpful with suggestions of what to see.

Great location!
Great location with easy walk to the National park and beach as well as the charming little town of Cahuita. All five stars except the cleanliness and nothing can be done about the copious amount of fruit falling from the giant tropical trees filled with monkeys!

Beautiful city and comfortable living
Troy was most accommodating and responsive from the moment we booked until we departed. The place was clean and comfortable. We had monkeys hanging in the trees on property and enjoyed a short walk to town and the National park and the beach! We enjoyed it very much! Highly recommend!

Amazing place at an amazing price
At first we were a bit nervous about renting this house because there weren't any reviews. It was a last-minute trip so we decided to take our chance. We were surprised to be the very first guests at Troy's house. It looks beautiful in the photos but it is so much better in person. There are lots of really cool things that aren't even in the photos - huge custom framed mirrors in each bedroom, monkeys in the yard ( sometimes ), modern yet comfortable furniture, etc. Troy has been managing another property he owns in the area for like over 10 years. So he can accurately answer any questions or help with anything. We have stayed in many rentals all over the world and this one was the best so far. I really recommend Troy and his home.

Couldn't be happier with our stay!
My boyfriend and I just returned from Costa Rica. It was an amazing time. Staying at Troy's house was definitely the highlight. Cahuita is a cute, friendly, little town. It has just enough shops and restaurants to be comfortable but absolutely doesn't feel touristy or crowded. The house was a stone's throw from the amazing Cahuita National park. From the front door it probably took us 2 minutes to walk there. There was plenty of wildlife, like monkeys and toucans. His house has everything you could want - filtered water (very important), huge beautiful showers and even little things like a coffee grinder. We enjoyed relaxing on the front so much that often we didn't want to leave. For sure we will be back. Thanks Troy!
