About this cottage rental
We BOAST the BEST WATERFRONT on Lake Lure ... Perfect for water lovers and water watchers. Our beautiful, newly constructed, boat house includes a big dock for rocking chairs both in or out of the sun... We have a water level dock that allows you to dangle your feet in the water just to get cooled down.
For a full swim, our wide steps allow you to slowly enter the water.....or you can be adventuresome and jump or dive off the end of each of our swim docks or really get out there by jumping off the top of our double slotted boat house.... Quite a thrill... No one has ever touched bottom by jumping off the top of our boat house.
For sun lovers, bring your sunscreen cause our boat house deck is huge and gets full sun all day.... but when you get hot, all you have to do is jump off the top for a quick cool down. We supply ski belts, just to be safe... also blue rubberized floats.
For shade lovers, rock comfortably on our shade screened lakefront porch or sit on our outside fully shaded patio with hammock. You can still see all the action on the lake. In fact all of the rooms in our cottage have a beautiful view of Rumbling Bald Mountain and the lake.
So we are nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains of the Appalachian Chain, on the crystal clear, emerald waters of one of the most beautiful lakes in the world (National Geographic 1954), our lake front cottage's perfect location allows for active as well as 'laid back' vacationers during all seasons. With three, 18 hole golf courses in a three mile radius, municipal tennis courts, horseback riding, sight seeing, shopping, water sports, and wonderful restaurants within in a 20 minute drive, our guests can play till they drop.
Swimming, skiing, and floating the lake's currents are wonderful activities May through September, after which you will need a wet-suit and a warm wood fire blazing in our fireplace. Be certain to bring hot chocolate! But most of all ENJOY IT ALL!
Our cottage has 4 bedrooms on the upper level there is a bedroom with a king and queen bed, and a second bedroom with a double. There is a bath room on the upper level. On the main level there is a bath and a bedroom with a king bed and a single bed. On the lower level is a bunk room (not accessible from main house, has own entrance) queen bed and a bathroom. Perfect for children of all ages.. plus 2 sleeping cots on the lake front porch

We had a lovely time once again on lake lure! We go every year around this time and love being right on the water for swimming and floating. This home was perfect the boat house deck allowed room for us to spread out and play. Well equipped, cozy house! The host was always responsive when we had questions!

Great week at the lake!!!!! The large deck provides georgous views of the lake. We really enjoyed eating, napping and playing games on the screened porch. My kids enjoyed jumping from the deck and fishing. Great location, great house and great relaxing week at the lake. We also enjoyed dinners at La Strada, Highlands and Riverwatch in Chimney Rock. If you are interested in renting a boat or waterskiing/tubing, book in advance as they book up fast.

The property location was outstanding, though I think any more than 8 is a little crowded.
Had a few issues, (mostly supplies) but the owner was always contactable and quick to fix them.
We had a very good time, and they had several lake supplies/toys to use.

While this place isn’t fancy, the dock, deck, and views are exceptional.

We loved hanging out on top of the boathouse with a cocktail or 4. The views were spectacular and the water was deep - jumping off the top of the boathouse was a highlight for sure! The house was spacious with plenty of beds to choose from. Communication with the owner was great. He made himself available for any and all questions and comments we had before/during/after the trip. Overall it was a great experience!

Very homey and comfortable cottage on Lake Lure. The sun porch was our favorite spot. We played board games there and had meals. We had a few days with sun and a few overcast/rainy days. It was a lovely retreat. We enjoyed pontoon boating twice from Lake Lure Adventures (Don't Use Anyone Else!) and even jumped off into the cold lake :) We had meals at the Lake House and the Highlands Kitchen and Bar. Both of these were great experiences.
The only constructive input would be to update linens as they smelled musty and not clean to us . We weren't able to use the washer (as it would not agitate) or the fireplace as it needed to be checked out for the upcoming winter season first. Jason the owner was very responsive and helpful.
Absolutely everything else was amazing and we would definitely go back.

The boat house and view of the lake/mountains was amazing. My friends and I loved hanging on the water and jumping off the boathouse. The house itself was old school but had a lot of character. Parking was a little tight so you would need to get creative if you have more than 5 cars. The internet was spotty/not good at times and the upstairs toilet unfortunately stopped working after the first day. It is worth noting there was a power outage the first night that impacted a large portion of houses on the lake so that may have had a part to play in the internet not working very well the remainder of the weekend. Aside from the internet and toilet struggles, we enjoyed the house and had a great weekend.

The Allens' cottage is a perfect place to relax and enjoy the lake and the view. The house is so charming and decorated with historic prints showing the past of the area. It has mostly tile and hardwood floors and lovely scenery looking out from all the windows. Even washing dishes is a pleasure while gazing at the lake and mountains. Our son brought a paddleboard and spent hours on the lake. We are older and were happy rocking on the screen porch or sitting on top of the boat house. The house is convenient to several nice restaurants. Most have outdoor seating which was nice with our small dog. There are lots of steps involved on the interior and exterior of the house but most are wide and have handrails that make it very manageable. We have rented many vacation rentals through this site in Maine ,Montana, CO. etc. but the views from this home are as beautiful as we have experienced. Loved it!

The property was in a beautiful area with a great vacation home on a wonderful lake. We were supplied lots of lake toys to play out in the water, a canoe and a beautiful view of the l mountains. We went to La Strata Restaurant one night and to
get ice cream another night. The weather was very cooperative. The house was old but comfortable. We would give it a two thumbs up for sure!

Amazing view!!
The description mentions an "old house" but don't let this deter you. It is older, but perfect! The view is the best on the lake, and the deck is amazing! Our kids had great time jumping off of the lower docks and venturing jumping off the big deck. There was also a charcoal grill to cook our meals and a burn pit to do smores at night! We had a great time and will be back again!

Ideal Lake House for our family holiday
Great communication from the outset and throughout the stay. This home is in a great location on the lake, and made many new great memories for us. The outdoor space and dock were perfect for all of us, allowing us to spend lots of hours enjoying the lake. We had everything we needed, and were able to do as we had desired-just relax and enjoy the location. Highly recommend for those looking for a way to enjoy the lake from a great location.

Picturesque older home
Older home with great location. Great deck over boathouse. Enjoyed our time outside. We stayed over Thanksgiving holiday and definitely would be super fun in summer. Unfortunately we did have a few issues with the house. Water quality was an issue, we were a little alarmed with brown water in all sinks and bathrooms. Although we were left with a case of drinking water we did need to purchase additional for cooking and coffee. We had no cable TV. We logged into our Netflix but internet was so slow we couldn’t watch anything - disappointing for wanting to watch a few big football games. Was great except for those issues.

Superb view !
The view is absolutely gorgeous. As much as I was hesitant - our stay was just perfect ! We rented kayaks, boat for tubing, skiing … all the “lake toys” were delivered directly to our house by nearby rental companies. We did some Chimney rock, Asheville and Linville fall sightseeing - of course our days were completed by gorgeous evening with the good beers and we’ll chilled drinks! The house didn’t miss anything for our stay. Our little boy Bull terrier Magnus enjoyed this stay as well ❤️

Best Waterfront Views
Our group ranged in age from 13 to 60's and was a pleasure for all. The house is an old cottage built into the side oh a hill. There are plenty of beds and places to hang out together or separate. The most spectacular feature is the boat house deck with incredible views, plenty of seating and water access. My water family enjoyed it all. Jumping off the deck, swimming, and fishing. My grandson had a goal of catching 3 fish a day and exceeded that some days. My only negatives were some cooking supplies getting out of the neighborhood. There is a sharp turn on a steep hill. My sons didn't mind it..

Beautiful lakefront property with the most idyllic views of the mountains and water. Our family loves this vintage house with its fabulous and HUGE freshly re-decked boathouse. (our 2nd stay) Multiple outdoor spaces (both shady and sunny) to relax and unwind with family and friends. The living room furniture and mattresses are newish and very comfortable. If you prefer granite counter tops. gourmet kitchen and fancy spa bathrooms this is not the home for you... but if you want the best outdoor spaces and views and well loved vintage family lake house, this is a home run. Jason is very responsive and a nice guy.... pleasure to work with! We will be back!

Beautiful views!!!!
Beautiful setting on the lake!
We loved the quintessential feel of the home. The artwork on the walls depict the history of the home and town of Lake Lure beautifully. There is so much history in this home, a family heirloom!
Plenty of sleeping space, a functional kitchen and a great screened porch facing the docks and the lake.
However, you are not coming here for the house! It’s ALL about the lake! , plenty of beautiful new dock space to lay out, swim, etc.
A boat would be a great asset! Lake Lure is a beauty to explore! Great dock to tie up to.

Stunning view and amazing outdoor spaces! There is no yard space for little kids but deck is huge.
We enjoyed the rafts, canoe and outdoor spaces. House is a little cluttered and poor water pressure in upstairs shower.

Great vacation
Loved the outside of this property! The sun deck you can jump off of was our favorite and had lots of room to hang out. The dock under the deck was perfect to swim off of, take out the canoe and play on all the floats they had available to use. We also enjoyed the multiple outside sitting areas and tables in the shade up by the house for meals. The house itself is older and needs some updates but has charm. We weren’t there to be inside though so we didn’t mind. We spent all of our time enjoying the lake!

Great location and views
This is a great property and we had a great time. The house and porch overlook the boathouse which has easy access to the water. Water is perfect for swimming right off the dock. We spent tons of time on the porch and at the boathouse. The neighborhood is quiet and private. There was parking for three cars. There is a bedroom on the main level and two bedrooms upstairs which was a good layout for us. The beds were a bit soft for our liking but this may be okay for others as we like firm mattresses. We did not use the separate apartment downstairs except for an easy access bathroom while at the boathouse. I would recommend this house for a small family or small group.

Before arrival to this property we were unsure of what we were getting ourselves into! We were apprehensive because we are 9 adults and 1 toddler and the descriptions and pictures left us curious. However, upon arrival we were quickly assured that there was plenty of space for all of us! The top/ground floor is two bedrooms. The master has a king bed and a full bed, and the other bedroom on that level has a full size bed. There is also a bathroom with a stand up shower. The bedroom with the full bed on this level is very tiny though, just FYI. The middle floor has a great and fully stocked with utensils kitchen as well as a living room with two comfortable couches. There isn't anywhere to sit and eat inside really, but that doesn't matter because there's a nice table and chairs on the screened in porch. The bedroom on this floor was best suited for a toddler as there was space for a pack and play and a bathtub. There's a king sized bed and a twin bed in the bedroom on this floor. The screened in porch has two day beds that are very comfortable but a little hot, a great little table and chairs for meals and an awesome grilling area. The basement bedroom is a little scary, but no more so than a normal basement bedroom. There's an AC down there that works great and keeps the room very cool and comfortable. The dock is everything you dream it will be! We spent the majority of our time lakeside and on the dock, and we loved every second of it. The place is well stocked with floats and being able to have our precious pups with us was a real treat! Would definitely stay here again!

Great Lake view and access.
The actual house was not very pleasing, needs updated, needs cleaned and had issues with getting bug bites while in the house, also the tap water was brown and yellow, therefore we had to use bottled water for all cooking and consumption. The bad conditions of the house did not damper our stay, for we spent 75% of the week at the lake and boat house. That was the bad, now the good. The view from the boat house was the best view we have had so for and we have been coming to the Lake for 20 years. The access to the boat house was good. We really enjoyed our stay, but we always do when we come to the lake.

Magical spot on lake
Magical spot on the lake. Vintage Lakehouse With multiple beautiful outdoor spaces to spread out and relax. Interior not fancy but who cares when you have that view! Kitchen is fine but bring your owns pans/mixing bowls/veg peeler if love to cook. Beds are all comfortable with newer mattresses/foam so not too soft or firm- just right. The deck is huge and gets nice morning shade until 11:00 ish then its sunny all afternoon. We loved jumping off the top of boathouse deck
to cool off! Note-they no longer have peddle boat but now have canoe (Which is easier and better for getting around on the lake) Watch out for splinters on deck- it is overall in good shape but recommend keeping flops on. Such a special home to for making memories to last a lifetime.

Simply beautiful
Location, location, location! This property is situated on one of the prettiest spots on Lake Lure. The huge deck has an unobstructed view of the mountains and lake and offers plenty of sun. The boathouse offers access to the water for a swim and shaded area. The house is very charming - exactly the kind of house that you would expect on a lake. It has the perfect combination of rustic charm without being overly modern, thank goodness. I hope the owners keep the vintage quality of the house! The beds were very comfortable. The screened porch was very relaxing and the hammock off to the side of the house was another great little spot. The owner was really personable, offering his phone number for quick responses to questions via text. Everyone in our party had a great time, and we all had plenty of room to spread out and have our own space, yet come together in the kitchen or porch for meals. I will definitely be back.

Fun spot on Lake Lure.
House has a great location on the edge of a cove on the lake. Great spot to swim and paddle board. We had 8 adults so BR arrangements were a bit awkward with multiple beds in some rooms. If you have kids this works better. Owner very responsive to any questions we had during our stay.

Very pleasant property
We ( two adults and four children ages 11 to 15) enjoyed a very relaxing week at this beautiful location. We found everything as expected after reading the description in the ad and the reviews. We all enjoyed swimming, kayaking , and canoeing in the lake as well as fishing the river and hiking nearby trails.

Relaxing lakefront stay
Pleasant older lake front home. Older in the best ways. The house sits low to the waterfront, so few steps down to the large deck sitting atop the boat house. Screened sleeping porch facing the lake. Great sunsets behind Rumbling Bald right in front of you. Location at the cove entrance gives great swimming location, and no wake zone protection. Quiet street. All in all great place to enjoy lakefront relaxation.

Relaxing and wonderful stay and view of the lake
We had a very nice stay at this cozy lake home and would rent this home again. The waterfront deck was incredible and the view was wonderful. It was so peaceful and relaxing sitting out on the deck. It was great being able to swim off the dock. We loved being able to have our dogs with us. The home is a little older but the bedding worked well for our family. Not sure why there were twin beds on the screened in porch, except for that we felt it was a good house, very comfortable and a great value for this incredible view and would definitely rent again. Also the contact for the home, Jason, was very attentive to our needs. Great stay! 😊 Thank you.
