About this house rental
Come find out why we love our camp, the lake, and the North Country so much. Whether it's quiet evenings in a rocking chair on the screened in porch watching the moon rise over the lake, or for the fun and adventures the lake and the Adirondack North Country have to offer, this camp has and does it all. The fall colors are spectacular in the North Country and seeing them by boat from the lake is something special.
Built in 1939 by my Grandfather, modernized in the 80's and 2000's, now available for you to enjoy. I live on the property. I have a separate apartment, so you can see as little or as much of me as you like. I'm there to be your tour guide, boat captain, watersport instructor for wakeboarding, waterskiing, stand up paddleboarding, and tubing, leading day hikes and beautiful road bike rides, or just in the background as your invisible caretaker making sure everything goes smoothly. I grew up spending summers at the camp and it's by far one of the most beautiful and fun places in the world. Please limit the number of people at the camp, at any one time, to 8.
Wake up in the master en suite to the sound of waves lapping at the shoreline. Then coffee at the kitchen table overlooking the lake. The second bedroom has twin beds and is private and quiet. The kids room is just that, with bunk beds, and 2 single beds, trust me, they won't be doing anything other than sleeping in there after all there is to do during the day at the camp. Rain or shine there is always something to do. Mornings, get up early and cut up the glassy water before anyone else. Then a bike ride over rolling hills along the lake, or a hike up Pocomoonshine, paddle out to Schuyler island for a secluded picnic, swimming and tubing in the afternoon. For the less adventurous, shopping in Lake Placid, check out the ski jumps, amazing! The drive to Burlington is just over an hour, with a ferry ride. Head up to Montreal, Canada's largest city, 90 minutes. Don't forget your passport! Rainy days are nice too. Explore Ausable Chasm and raft down the Ausable river, Parc Safari and waterpark is just over the border an hour away. At the end of the day cool down on the screened in porch, or warm up in front of the large fireplace in the living room. Roast marshmallows over a bonfire on the beach, then lay back and count shooting stars. Life at the camp is great. Come and find out for yourself.

Our family of four really enjoyed our stay at Johnathan's home, and appreciated the many fun ways to enjoy the lake - paddleboards, kayak, tube, and a boat ride around the lake followed by all of us getting a chance to try tubing for the first time! The house had plenty of space and everything we needed to enjoy our stay. When we had a cooler day we took the opportunity to cross the lake by ferry to enjoy the city of Burlington and the restaurants and shops it has to offer. Overall we enjoyed our visit!

Our family took our first family vacation together here at the camp on beautiful Lake Champlain. Jonathan is my cousin and he has truly created a vacation dream come true. I’m impressed by what he has accomplished here. The house was a perfect layout for our extended family (5 adults, 2 little kids and a young dog). There was room for everyone to gather and space to spread out as well. And the lake is the cherry on top! So much fun on the lake. Jonathan is a wonderful host and we are all already looking forward to our next visit!

My family truly enjoyed our stay at camp King. The property was absolutely breathtaking. The accommodations in the home were second to none.
The lake was perfect! The water was crystal clear and warm. The kids could jump off the dock and play with all of the wonderful water toys that were provided. Jonathan even took the children on a tubing excursion.
If you are looking for a little piece of heaven then I would highly recommend camp King.

Another great stay at the lake. Kids loved the water toys and fire pit (S’mores!). Adults loved the view and spending quality time with loved ones.

The camp on the lake is a true gem. Coming from the south where every bit of shorefront property is stacked wall-to-wall with large houses and huge boat docks, this Lake Champlain Adirondack retreat is the complete opposite. The lake is never crowded, the cabin holds its 1930s charm with modern amenities, and if it rains, there is so much to do in the immediate vicinity. What a great time and Jonathan is a superb host who makes sure his guests are well accommodated and there are lots of toys to play with on the lake.

We had a wonderful experience at this property. The beach and dock were everything our little family could have asked for- and all of the water toys were perfection. We had kayaks, paddleboards, paddle boats and canoes at our disposal. Our host took us out on his boat in the afternoon and was a wealth of information. He was available at all times and improved our stay immensely. I suggest bringing water shoes as the beach is all rocks and definitely hurts the feet. Fires in the evening were wonderful- we can’t wait to return!

The house is charming, peaceful, and relaxing. Lake Champlain was mesmerizing and the sound of the small waves hitting the shoreline was hypnotizing.

We spent the weekend and the eclipse at the camp. It was spectacular, the view of the eclipse was perfect. The house was exactly as advertised and exceeded our expectations.

We had a wonderful time at this lovely and well-equipped home. The screened in porch is heaven with comfortable rocking chairs and a table that could be opened up to allow dining on the porch. Views cannot be beat. Kitchen was very nice and had everything you need. Living room and bedrooms were very comfortable . Dock was a perfect place to relax and enjoy the scenery. Jonathan was a very friendly and pleasant host, especially nice of him to provide perfect weather too.

Beautiful and fun! My family of four had a great stay at “King Anchorage” and our host Jonathan was the best! We enjoyed being out on the water, spent a lot of time in the awesome screened in porch, and had a cozy fire every night. Took the Ferry over to Burlington for the day too. Hope to visit again some day!

Jonathan was a GREAT host! Very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the Ausable Chasm, Walker Nature Trail and especially the boat ride to the marina for dinner with Jonathan giving us an informative talk on the lake and the other cabins. The cabin had everything needed including a 549 piece kayak puzzle we finished in two nights.

Jonathan's camp is a treasure. The cabin has beautiful views and lots of different places and ways to enjoy them. He provides excellent service. The camp provides the best of charm from another era and modern comforts. From the roaring fire in the fireplace to the lake front screened in porch camp can be enjoyed no matter what the weather brings.

Our family traveled to upstate NY to attend a wedding and we decided to make it a week get-a-way! We were looking for a relaxing location with activities for the teens! Johnathan's camp was everything we were hoping for! We had long mornings of relaxation sipping coffee on the screen porch. The kids swam and paddled most of the day! Johnathan advised us on everything from shopping and restaurants, to day trips and to our ferry to Vermont for the wedding. He graciously took the kids on a boat ride and tubing! We loved hearing the history of his family and the camp! Kitchen was well stocked with a nice new grill and we cooked almost everynight! Thank you Johnathan for everything! Hoping to make another trip next year!

We enjoyed our stay. The camp had a variety of water crafts which we used every day. At night there were many games to choose from. The screen porch was perfect for meals and relaxing. The camp could have been a bit cleaner (fridge and main room) but overall we had a nice stay. Jonathan was a great host

The camp has old school charm and a beautiful view, but there were some issues. The camp could have been cleaned better. It was very dusty with spider webs and the floors had not been mopped in awhile. This was very apparent because we had our two small children walking around and crawling. Their feet and hands were black the first day so we had to buy them slippers and make sure they didn’t crawl around. There was an issue with the sink which caused the contents of the sink to come back up when the dishwasher was being used. The washer and dryer is in the property manager’s unit which is under the rental unit. We didn’t realize that living on the property meant underneath our unit. The oven was dirty and smoked up when we went to use it. I had to clean it. It is an older camp and we don’t mind the cabin charm but it should be clean for the amount of money it was. Also one of the doors could not be locked without a skeleton key or something. This was a security concern.

We really enjoyed our stay at Jonathan’s family property. The history of the house was something we appreciated hearing about too. There are so many water toys for everyone in the family to enjoy and Jonathan has life vests for all sizes too. The lake is stunning to look at from every angle. We mostly found ourselves sitting in the super comfy rocking chairs on the screened in porch while the kids swam down below. Having two bathrooms and air conditioning were luxuries we really appreciated. The kitchen and BBQ were fully stocked and plenty of towels were provided - both for bathing and the lake. Lots of board games and puzzles are available for making family memories. We enjoyed every minute.

Mr. King keeps a very clean, gracious home with wonderful historical photographs, maps, and appointments, and he is discreet, but available and eminently able to inform of the history of the place and area. Great grounds, beautifully kept, on an ideal perch on Lake Champlain adjacent to Schuyler's Island and 15 minutes from the Ferry to Burlington if it rains. In good weather, swimming, paddle boarding, kayaking, canoeing, or boat riding are AWESOME!

We absolutely loved the property. Lake Champlain is gorgeous, the house is very unique and so nice to look out at breakfast over Lake Champlain. Jonathan was a great host. Took us for a boat ride and gave us lots of information on him some things to do would definitely stay here again.

Just as advertised, we found the property to be beautiful and very well up kept. Jonathan was very accommodating. The only problem we had was with the TV, but Jonathan took care of that promptly. I do feel there should be more specific instructions, for the men that can’t miss football games. The porch with rockers was my favorite place on the property. I would definitely stay there again. It is evident that Jonathan takes great pride in his property.

Jonathan was a great host. Gave us a manageable list of what not to miss. Ausible Chasm did not disappoint. Took the ferry to VT for lunch. Visited Olympic Village. Every excursion was enjoyable.

A wonderful lake house with an interesting family history constructed back when craftsmanship was the norm. The house has been in the current owner's family for generations, and the love he has for the place is apparent in his willingness to share it's history, the careful maintenance of the property, and the investment in modern updates that preserve it's character while making it very comfortable. Everything works, it is equipped with quality furnishings and appliances and. The views can't be beat, and there are plenty of water toys for everyone to enjoy the lake in their own way. If you care to explore the area it is close to many attractions. But why leave when everything you need is at the lake? The wifi works great and we had no trouble with cell service. Great place to be with people you want to be with.

This property is wonderful. It’s right on the lake lots of fun equipment provided by owner. The views are stunning. The swimming is great. Lots to do nearby also. Ausable Chasm was fun and worth it. Jonathan was a terrific host and had a wonderful day out on the boat. Plan on making this a yearly stop.

This property is phenomenal! We loved everything about it and intend to book again next year for a much longer period. With a rich family history and outstanding location, one would be hard pressed to find a better vacation spot.
Jonathon is an amazing individual who goes out of his way to make you feel comfortable. He also has a rich family history, some of which is displayed on the walls of the camp.
Definitely a 5 star experience!

We have stayed at the King Camp 3 times now. Every time it seems the weather and fun just gets better. The house is the quintessential lake house with all the amenities, making the stay so lovely. Never a dull moment yet so relaxing. Of course we spent a day in Montreal and Ausible Chasm. Every toy you could want on the lake and more. Always makes for great core memories for all.

Perfect family vacation home
The home did not disappoint ... the views are breathtaking... The screen porch was fabulous in all ways! Everyone enjoyed themselves doing a wide range of activities from relaxing on the porch or dock taking in the views to using the many water toys/boats this rental has included. We highly recommend this rental.
Our family consisted of 5 adults, one teenager and one toddler ... and we all were comfortable and entertained.

Wonderful house on a picturesque lot
We loved our stay on Lake Champlain and all of the water toys! The lake is extremely clear and we canoed, paddle boated, SUPed, and kayaked. Jonathan is wonderful and our tour of the lake was great! Au Sable Chasm is gorgeous and we loved the whole area - can’t say enough about the area, the house, and the host!

Great place for a family with teens and dogs
My husband and I and our two teen boys plus a dog had a great time. The camp is clean and spacious. The three season porch is our favorite place to hang out. The view is spectacular. The host Jonathan is very responsive with questions. The fact that he drives his boat to tour us around the lake and provide wave board lessons to my boys is a huge bonus.
