About this cottage rental
Our spacious, well-appointed and secluded three bedroom chalet-style cottage offers an ideal relaxing getaway with a stunning view across the Southwest River in the picturesque fishing village of New London, 10 minutes from Cavendish National Park.
Our one-acre property boasts over 150 feet of south facing shoreline on the tidal Southwest River just a short distance from the mouth of the ocean.
The cottage itself is set back on a slope nestled among mature trees on each side affording our guests full privacy while still providing a gorgeous view of the river and valley from the living room, bedrooms and each of three large decks.
Our property has a 30 ft patio for lounging or eating. Guests have full access to our two sea kayaks. The front of the cottage faces to the South and as a result the property, deck and dock are blanketed with sunshine most of the day.
The cottage was fully renovated in 2005, including all new appliances and furnishings, fully renovated kitchen and bathroom, reclaimed pine flooring throughout — all carefully chosen to reflect a warm and inviting cottage ambiance. All new major kitchen appliances installed 2021.
We have new, high quality mattresses topped with quality cotton linens and summer-weight feather duvets, and have both bath and beach towels in good supply. Our bathroom is spacious and the claw foot tub is perfect for taking a leisurely soak at the end of the day but also boasts a wall mounted nozzle for showering.
We have outside lounge chairs and a picnic table for outdoor relaxation and dining as well as an outdoor shower to rinse off after a day at the beach. The cottage is equipped with a washer/dryer for guest's use as well as satellite television service, DVD player and of course a BBQ for outdoor cooking.
Location is central to many north shore attractions including golf, beaches, lobster dinners, and deep sea fishing.
Season 2022:

We travelled as two couples and loved our accomodatoons. Very peaceful with a beautiful view. Lots of space, equipped with everything we needed.
4.8
Great cottage and location. Well supplied with everything you need as well as lots of fun games, books, kayaks and a paddle board. We had age ranges from 4-72 and everyone enjoyed it. My only recommendation is to have a dehumidifier running in the basement to hopefully remove the musty smell. Love the open concept upstairs space and having one room with a king size bed is definitely a plus!

Lovely open concept upper floor. Beautiful view and very quite area. We were not at the cottage most of the time, but nice place to relax. We were a bit disappointed because we couldn’t swim off the dock due to huge amount of algae, but not a big deal.

Our Highview experience exceeded our expectations. Everything our family could ask for. Loved kayaking and the paddle board. Lots of room for the 6 of us. Totally enjoyed the board games on our one rainy day. The location is ideally close to Kensington and Cavendish, yet completely private. Only hiccup was the road to the cabin after it rained.
Highly recommend.

The cottage is rustic but comfortable! The dock is lovely but not entirely swimable if you’re not a fan of seaweed. Kitchen has everything you need- my husband even cooked live lobsters:) Would recommend to anyone:)

Very good in all respects. We enjoyed our stay.

Omg the property is even more beautiful than photos can show. The river is lovely, sitting by the water in the evening is so serene. The cottage was clean and comfortable! The beds were comfy and the place had absolutely everything we needed. We drank our morning coffee on the deck overlooking the view. Would love to come back again!

Great location for us. I imagine it would be a beautiful spot in the summer.

Nice property

The setting was beautiful and very private. The house was super clean with lots of comfortable touches that made for a relaxing stay. Our only issue was that we didn’t know the bedrooms and bathroom were all in the basement. They could be accessed from outside but inside access was by stairs and my husband had a recovering broken foot. It was a complication we dealt with and wouldn’t be a problem for lots of people, but good to know.

Had a wonderful stay! The eagles and birds were amazing to watch plus kayaking was great! Close enough to restaurants and outings but far enough to feel private!
Thanks for a perfect week!

Great property. Seamless process. Close to Cavendish.

Amazing view ..Inside was nice and clean, beds were very comfy...Love the outdoor shower...I have bad knees so it was hard to get around a bit but I knew that when I booked and am not complaining...I loved it so much I would love to go back again...I also took a lot of pics and shared them on my FB page and a lot of people asking about it....All in all ,it was a beautiful wonderful get-away

Absolutely amazing! The property was gorgeous, everything was clean and well stocked. The area was quiet and peaceful. The outdoor shower was a bonus, as was the bald eagle sightings.
Hosts were communicative, friendly and helpful. Would absolutely stay here again and recommend it to everyone!
Thank you!

Our stay@ Highview Cottage was nice and easy. My wife and I were able to get to the location easily, check in quickly, and settle into the cottage. It is well stocked with everything you need. The view is beautiful and a great secluded location for a nice, relaxing, peaceful stay.

Lovely house with an exceptional location if being tucked away in the trees but close to services is your jam. Would happily stay again.

This place is beautiful, it has an amazing location and gorgeous view. There is however a very strong musty smell, my husband has asthma and had a very hard time breathing in the lower levels where the bedrooms were. They also only left us one and a quarter roll of toilet paper for 6 people, 4 nights, they adivsed me they told us they leave 1-2 to get us started, but at nearly $1700 for 4 nights, you would think they would provide a basic necessity like toilet paper, when in fact the pre book info said "a few" which by definiton is 3-4.
All in all, it was beautiful, it was really well located, it was beautifully decorated, they had tons for my kids to do, and improvments could be made by leaving a proper amount of toilet paper, and maybe de-humidifiers in the lower level would help with the must/mildew smell

It was all I expected it to be. Peaceful & quiet, surrounded by nature. The eagle's nest a real bonus for us all!
Will definitely try to return.

Lovely property. We have stayed 3 times and the location is lovely and private. The stairs by the dock could use a little tlc.

Loved our stay in our cute little PEI cottage. Private with a beautiful view. Only complaint is with 7 ppl in the house, it was hard to only have one bathroom. Best part of the house was the view you could see from 3 different balconies. Loved it and would go again. Thank you for everything!!!

We drove in from Halifax after flying in from Toronto and settled right into this beautiful, rustic cottage. Our two children (9,7) enjoyed the location with a dock for fishing and especially loved spotting the eagle and its nest, directly in front of the top deck.
We easily drove to a number of tourist destinations like Cavendish and Brackley Beaches, Charlottetown, Green Gables Heritage Place, numerous lighthouses, and a fabulous lobster supper!!
The cottage was comfortable, filled with games and activities for the kids, and a great kitchen to enjoy some homemade meals from.
Loved this place and would recommend highly, especially to those with children!
Have always dreamed of visiting PEI and finally made it! A wonderful, memorable family vacation for us visiting from Buffalo, NY. We love and appreciate Canada so much, thank you for the hospitality and the beauty of Nova Scotia and PEI!

Would highly recommend!

Very clean property in a very picturesque spot. We really loved seeing the bald eagle.

Great Property in a the perfect location to see one of the most beautiful spots in Canada. We will be back...

We incurred a lot of rain during our stay-in PEI which hindered our ability to truly enjoy the water and the outdoors.
Great view none the less and the eagles nest was a bonus for sure.
The only recommendation I have is that you perhaps inform people that the drive way looks more like a trail than an actual road . Lol.

We loved staying at this cottage. The ambiance made for a perfect relaxing vacation. Lots of nature and solitude but close to lots of amenities and beautiful beaches!
4.8
Very well-kept cottage with an awesome view and easy access to the water. Couldn't ask for a better spot!

We had a very nice stay at Highview Cottage. The cottage is very comfortable with plenty of room to spread out. Plenty of towels, kitchen tools, dishes etc. View of lake is lovely and eagle nest and eagle views from porch is a big plus! Check in very easy , owners very responsive and cottage very clean. I think this would be a nice get away for families who want to have a relaxing beach holiday. It’s a bit off the beaten path for those wanting to sight see and see PEI. A few negatives; this is not a rental for those with any kind of mobility issues. All the bedrooms are downstairs, and as can happen in older homes, the stairs are of uneven size and difficult to navigate. Path down to lake and kayaks also difficult. Dirt road to house has lots of pot holes, which if filled in would make the ride less jarring (especially after rain). Overall a relaxing and pleasant rental on PEI.

The place was beautiful, clean, and full of amenities! The hosts were excellent at communicating. We really enjoyed our stay here.
4.8
The view is WOW. It was the perfect place for a family get away. The hosts were very accommodating. It is down a heavily pot holes dirt road. Fortunately we have a Jeep so it wasn’t a problem. I would definitely recommend a four wheel drive car, but it is well worth the drive.

We had a great girls weekend at the cottage. Had everything we needed for our stay.
4.8
We had a great time, the games kept the kids entertained, the dock was perfect, just too bad the seaweed wasn't cleaned up a bit... Cottage was perfect and super clean!! Had everything you would ever need! Thank you again! We did see two bald eagles in the trees in front of cottage facing the river, the boys thought that was great!

A peaceful getaway on PEI
A lovely getaway with beach access. Cottage comfortably can sleep 4 couples with 3 private bedrooms.
The common area was roomy and comfortably. Great evening drinks on the deck! We really enjoyed our stay.

The location of this property was perfect! Central to almost everything on the island. We took one day and headed east to Singing Sands and another day to head to the northern point. The remaining days were filled with little day trips to experience this wonderful, laid-back island. Check-in was a breeze and everything that might be needed was readily available.

We loved our stay at this beautiful lake house. The hosts were truly remarkable and had excellent communication. The house is stocked with all that you need and everything is easily accessible. We loved kayaking and paddle boarding on the river. The location is absolutely perfect for the Anne of Green Gables fans! We hope and dream to return one day!
