About this house rental
Choice dates still available this season. Welcome to Shepherd’s Cove – a modern, quiet, beautiful place to get away for a fun and a relaxing vacation, family reunion, unforgettable fall getaway, or sabbatical season.
This waterfront property with main house and separate guest cottage is located on an ocean cove on 5 ½ acres of wooded land on the little-traveled Bradford Point peninsula. It has a 650 foot-long driveway leading down to a large parking area for up to five cars and to the family compound.
The family compound consists of two separate buildings- a large, three-story main house and a smaller, fully contained guest cottage named Pooh. The main house has four large bedrooms (one with a king size Sleep Number bed) and two baths and can sleep eight; Pooh has a one bedroom and a loft, a full bath and can handle up to six persons. Maximum total guests for the compound at one time is limited to 10 persons. There is an extra fee of $500 for the guest cottage Pooh.
The main house is 75 feet from the ocean with 400’ of waterfront access. It is a modern, four-season, fully insulated, heated home with a large living area with a cathedral ceiling, floor-to-ceiling windows and hardwood floors throughout. The master bedroom is located on the main floor and the second large bedroom is upstairs. The lower walk-out level has two separate bedrooms, each with two twin beds, both with great ocean views. It has a fully applianced kitchen including a dishwasher and trash compactor, a downstairs laundry with washer and dryer, a dining area that seats up to to eight, an activities loft with a cathedral ceiling for family game/puzzle addicts. The large outdoor deck overlooking the ocean cove has a dining table with six comfortable chairs and a sun umbrella. There is also a large hammock overlooking the ocean.
“Pooh”, the smaller cottage, is decorated with charming beach side decor and is also a completely modern, four-season heated house with one bedroom that sleeps two, a full bathroom with shower, an open loft that can sleep three, a fully-equipped kitchen and a living area with pull-out sofa-bed. Pooh can sleep a total of six guests. French doors lead out to a deck overlooking the ocean.
In the fall, it is often so quiet that you can hear an oak leaf fall off of a tree. In the summer and early fall, sitting on the front deck, you will enjoy cool ocean breezes. Shepherd’s Cove is near enough that you can walk to the small town of Friendship or to the lobster dock, yet far enough to be an isolated, private retreat. On occasion you may see wildlife including turkey, deer, fox, and a variety of beautiful birds, sometimes eagles. In the evening you can lie out on the deck and watch billions of brilliant stars come out to greet you.
There is a town landing boat ramp available ½ mile away if you want to bring your own boat or kayak/canoe.
A land line telephone is available for local calls; long-distance telephone service and Wi-Fi is available upon request. This property is available many weeks in May, June and July. In September and October, you can come to enjoy the stunningly beautiful New England fall leaves.
The main house can be rented with or without the smaller cabin. The fee structure is based on the rental of the main house only; an additional $ 500.00 fee is added for Pooh cabin. In either case, renters will always enjoy exclusive use of the property. Children are welcome. In deference to other renters with allergies, we do not allow pets.
In the fall, a shorter rental period will be considered and priced accordingly.

We had a large group including my parents, adult children with spouses and a grandson. Everyone had plenty of room to relax and enjoy the beautiful Maine coast. The main house has everything you will need to feel right at home. The scenery is breathtaking and there are plenty of ways to find adventure. We visited Acadia and Old Orchard Beach. We spent some days relaxing at the house and paddling around in the water. We boiled fresh lobster and has enough for the week.
Trudy was attentive and available for any questions. The accommodations were clean and private. We had the best vacation and made lots of lasting memories!

Gorgeous
This property was absolutely wonderful. Although the owners, Trudy and Willis, live in MA, we were in contact with them all week, with her checking with us if everything was okay, if we needed anything, etc. It was an absolute pleasure staying in their beautiful home.
Even though there was no air conditioning, there were ceiling fans, and if you opened the windows there was a wonderful breeze coming in off the water, and by morning the house was only in the 60s. Plenty cold!!
There is no cable TV, but our grandchildren had brought a lot of DVDs with them which we would watch at night. My 11 year old grandson even said he didn't miss TV and he wants to go back there again.
All in all it was a wonderful vacation in a beautiful, well kept house on Shepherd's Cove in Friendship, Maine (what a wonderful name for a city).
Thank you Trudy and Willis.

Property was great. Had all the necessary amenities for making it a memorable stay.
We all had a great time. Good location with convenience to Rockland, Camden and Pemaquid which was our old stamping grounds. Quiet private location was to our liking also. Got lobster directly from the Fisherman’s Co-op at reasonable cost. Had contact by phone with the owners who were extremely nice and accommodating and were genuinely interested in making our stay a pleasant one

Quiet and Private
This property is very private and peaceful. We found it to be clean and comfortable with almost everything that a person would need while staying away from home. We enjoyed the area off the beaten path.

It is a wonderful place and so peaceful.
This was our first family vacation with all 3 sons & their families. We made some wonderful memories at this gorgeous property. The weather was wonderful for us all from Texas ! Hope to return next summer again with our family. Nina & Gary Jones, San Leon, Texas

Just right!
I had visiting guests stay here and they enjoyed both the cottage and the cabin. For some, it was the first time they had seen the tide coming & going & this is a perfect spot for that, not to mention the peace & quiet.
The owners and local liaison were very helpful and readily handled questions.

Like Heaven on Earth!
This beautifully hidden home was the perfect getaway for us. All the amenities of home. The view is spectacular and the sunsets are breathtaking. The adorable cabin that is on the property is perfect for when friends and family come visit. We all had our own space and the cabin has its own living room, kitchen, full bathroom and bedroom.
The owners of this home are so wonderful and unbelievably accommodating. It was like renting from family. What a blessing to have been able to spend our time there reading in the hammock and listening to the seagulls sing to us and the fishing boats arriving home safely.
I look forward to our next visit, thanks Will and Trudy for such a blessed time.
