About this house rental
Captain's Choice is a 5 bedroom, 3 bath OCEANFRONT duplex with over 2100 square feet of living space that sleeps 14 people. The kitchen was completely remodeled in the fall of 2017 and there is new furniture in the living area and lots of new furnishings throughout the rest of the house. The main level has a fully equipped kitchen with all brand new appliances in 2017, a granite topped eat-in island that can seat 4 people, a living/dining area with all new furniture in 2017, and a queen sized bedroom with full bath that was remodeled in 2018. The second floor has 3 king sized bedrooms, 2 of which are oceanfront with decks, and 2 full sized baths, both of which were remodeled in 2019. The third floor is a perfect retreat for the children featuring 4 single beds and a queen sized bed and is equipped with lots of toys and games. New mattresses were purchased for all beds in 2019. New flooring was installed in 2023 and the entire interior was repainted in 2023. The duplex has free WIFI, 6 cable TVs, charcoal built-in grill, DVD players, beach furniture and toys, and hot/cold enclosed outdoor shower. Beach games include bocce ball, corn hole, volleyball, and a water table for the little ones. There is plenty of room to play and rest on the wide spacious beach that is only a very short walk from the house. Duplex is very private with its own separate walkway to the beach. The decking areas are all newly renovated to meet current code standards.
Please note that Captain's Choice is rented by the week during the months of April through October from Sunday to Sunday. For the months of November through March, a minimum stay of four nights is required.

House was perfect for our first family vacation with my sister in law and her family. The house is laid out to give everyone ample space to get away from the chaos. There is a nice area to come together as a family to play games and share meals. The view is spectacular.

Communication was great, entry was super easy. Duplex was in a great location, not to far from "civilization" but far enough away that it was nice and quiet. The house was right on the beach with easy access to a super quiet section of the beach. Very Clean, kitchen was well stocked. Plenty of seating and plenty of Bed options. The Kids loved the upstairs loft and there was plenty of sleeping options up there. The second level bedrooms had amazing views of the beach/ocean and the deck was a great place to sit and enjoy the breeze. TV's in all the bedrooms came in handy for the children one our rainy day and the wifi was great and fast. Overall fantastic house in a great location. Would definitely stay again!

We had the absolute best long weekend in Emerald Isle. What a treat to be ocean front, the outdoor space is simply amazing at this property, private access to the beach was so nice and watching the sunset on the walkway was aplendid. The views from the kitchen were breathtaking, you feel like the house is floating on the water. All the rooms were clean and spacious. Our group of 6 had a fantastic time, hoping we can come back again next year!

The duplex was perfect for our family. If you have children it is ideal. I’ve always stayed in condos but after staying here I will always choose a house/duplex! The beach was right there and gorgeous. The deck area was perfect to relax and listen to the ocean. This is a beautiful area to stay. I will be back 😊

We enjoyed staying at this well-appointed house. The house was clean and all beds were made upon our arrival. There was plenty of room for 7 adults two toddlers and an infant. An added bonus was the toys that were up on the third floor. (Plenty of beach toys too) The kitchen was well-stocked with pots, pans, and dishes. We enjoyed the large deck and outdoor furniture and the beautiful views it provided. Can’t say enough great things about our stay here.

We had an amzing time! The house was everything we needed forbour family get away. The kids enjoyed all the toys that were available for them in the house and the beach access was perfect for fun beach days! We definitely recommend this house. Sue was great too very friendly and was available with any questions we had. We loved Emerald Isle!

The house was perfect for my family - having a bedroom on the main floor was great for my aging parents, the loft was perfect for my nieces (ages 3 and 6) and the three bedrooms on the second floor were spacious and great for my siblings, our spouses and a bassinet for my 3 year old. The beds were SO comfortable. The kitchen was fully stocked and the house was very clean when we arrived. The proximity to the beach was great and the view was even better. We had an excellent time and hope to stay again!

Perfect for Family Stay
Our family of 13, aged 2-74, all enjoyed a fun week at Captains Choice. This house had comfortable beds, a well stocked kitchen with all the pots, pans, utensils, plates, etc that you could need. There were plenty of games and TVs in every bedroom. The view of the ocean was spectacular from all 3 decks and there was a brand new walkway right to the beach which was only about 30-40 feet away. The weather turned windy and very cold one night and we had a problem with the heat in 2 bedrooms facing the street, but when we texted the owner, she responded immediately and re-set the heat from her computer which solved the issue. A very clean and perfectly situated property. My family all voted to stay there again hands down!

Sunrise to Sunset...Beautiful Views
The views were wonderful from sunrise to sunset. Couldn't ask for anything more! We loved sitting on the deck looking out at the ocean when we weren't on the beach. We enjoyed lots of adventures, golfing, deep sea fishing and a beautiful sunset horse back ride! This property was very comfortable and cozy for our family group of 6 adults when we were not out exploring or on our adventures!

Best Place Ever!
This house was bright, beautiful and decorated so cute! It was super clean and smelled great when we arrived. Great appliances, dining table sat 8, great rockers on the deck and so spacious! We had the whole beach to ourselves, were able to put up a tent everyday and take all our games out with easy access to the beach. This was our best trip ever! We want to come back!

A little slice of heaven!
This home had everything we were looking for- beautiful beachfront views, comfortable spacious rooms for all, and a loft space for the kids to play (the home comes with plenty of games and toys which was a nice surprise to the kids)! The House was beautiful, lots of space for everyone!! We all loved it. The cleaning crew missed quite a few places.. Found a few pills left on the floor someone before us must have dropped.. (cleaning crew missed) My self and sister ALWAYS go through the house with a flashlight and look for pills left behind... we have small children.. this could potentially be deadly for them.. They need to do a better job!! We did enjoy our stay and would love to come back in the furure

Trip was cancelled after arrival
We were excited to vacation on emerald isle. We arrived and the cleaners had not shown up to clean the place. We contacted the owner after a few tries reached her and she said she would pay to put us in a hotel for the night and the cleaning could possibly be done by 2:00 the next day. that was not satisfactory to us because of the covid environment that the world is in today not to mention the fact that we were paying money to be beachfront not in a hotel. So we took all of our food and all of our clothing the five hours drive back home and picked up our dogs that we had paid $500 to kennel for the week. I think the property has a lot of potential there are a few maintenance issues that we noticed and I think I did read another review where other people had shown up and the cleaning had not been done. There owner apologized and was sincere, however More attention needs to be paid towards the cleanliness and timeliness of this rental because people are traveling far whether driving or flying and when you pay money to rent a place you expect it to be clean when you show up. Each party in a rental agreement has their part to do. We did get a full refund.

Windoon East Beautiful Duplex on Emerald Isle
Windoon East is a beautiful duplex with lots of beds for a big family. It was very clean and the kitchen was well equipped. All the appliances were on the newer side. Walk way to the beach is not to long or steep. Front stairs are quite steep, but you can take the back stairway into the house which isn't bad. We enjoyed our stay very much. The only thing I was disappointed about was that there was not a gas grill at this property, only a charcoal grill in the front yard that we did not use. Otherwise this is a fabulous beach house on beautiful Emerald Isle. There was also a good selection of books and games provided for guests to use. The 3rd floor has a great room for kids with 4 twin beds and a queen bed. All the rooms were nicely decorated and plenty of parking. I would have to say this, that Windoon East is one of the nicest properties we have stayed in at Emerald Isle! The owner Sue also was very easy to communicate with. We had a wonderful time especially since we also lucked out and had wonderful weather for almost the whole week! The house also has keyless entry so that made it much easier to get in the house right away with a code instead of having to go get keys. If you rent this property you won't be disappointed.

Great escape
My family (9 total) had a wonderful stay at Windoon east, during a tropical storm no less! First and foremost, Sue was a wonderful host and kept us in the loop on notices from town both from a COVID-19 perspective as well as bulletins concerning preparedness for Tropical Storm Isaias. Check-in was seamless and everything in the house worked wonderfully.
Highlights:
- Some of the most comfortable beds we've ever slept on!
- Gorgeous view and quiet beach
- Plenty of parking for large families (4 mid-size SUVs fit comfortably)
Minor Annoyances:
- The cleaning company that comes in did not do a good job of cleaning kitchen utensils, so we had an extra load of dishes to do upon arrival
- The king beds are california kings, so the fitted sheets provided by the linen service did not quite fit (they provided standard king fitted sheets, so either call ahead to confirm or bring your own)

Awesome beach front home
An awesome updated and well-kept home. You can’t beat being beach front. Especially in this price range on Emerald Isle with this many beds - it’s a great deal.
Only thing less than perfect is lack of pantry and bathroom sizes/ numbers. If you fill up the beds you’ll be waiting a little for shared bathrooms. But in this price range that is acceptable (and overlooked since the quality of everything is so high.). Home is in great shape. Homeowner is attentive and great to work with.

Lovely, beautiful, cheerful, colorful!
I don’t know where to begin... The house is in pristine condition and is decorated gorgeously! You just walk around with your mouth open as each room, furnishings, etc is better than the next! We’ve been going to Emerald Isle on and off for over 25 years. I hope we are able to stay at this house for all of our visits going forward! The 4 year old with us loved “his playroom”! The owner is wonderful. I can’t believe how lucky we were to find this incredible place.

We had a great experience in this house. It was very clean (and I'm picky!) and had everything that we needed. Sue was great to deal with and the info she left for us was perfect and all that we needed. Would definitely stay here again! I loved that the top floor had a built-in baby gate.

Wonderful Windoon!
Do yourself a favor and reserve this property! My large family and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay while celebrating my mother’s recent retirement. Well stocked kitchen and the beautiful views were two of the standout features. The owner was very pleasant and responsive. We will definitely be back!
