Wonderful home with spacious rooms and beautiful hillside ocean views. Perfect for three couples on vacation. If you enjoy a morning run the hills will challenge you! Recommend visiting nearby Mountain Thunder Coffee for a tour.

Comfortable space with a fabulous deck for meals and beverages overlooking the ocean and lovely sunsets. Very convenient for picking up/dropping off at the local airport. We would definitely book again.

The property is just as the photos present but the best part of the stay were the hosts! Kuule and Garrett are so friendly and accommodating! We never needed anything! And when returned flights were cancelled for some of us; Kuule was quick to offer their other accommodations and a car rental at reduced prices.
Our stay was a blast and visiting with this young family made it even better! We all highly recommend this property!

Our stay was good but pillows and bed couldve been better. Grandson woke up screaming cuz he had a kink in his neck from sleeping on one of the pillows. Overall our stay was fine.

Super hosts. Excellent communication. Beautiful view of the ocean. Enjoyed the nightly sounds of the tree frogs.

Clean and well appointed. Beautiful west facing view for gorgeous sundowns. We took advantage of the gas grill on the deck on more than one occasion.
I think the only thing that should be mentioned is that the rental is the second floor of a two story structure. The owners occupy the ground floor. I share this just for awareness. It shouldn't deter a rental; the family are great and unobtrusive unless you need them.

The Hosts were wonderful. The space fit our needs for two couples, Well stocked and clean. They provided a variety of things to do and places to eat. All were good. We were a bit surprised at the location of the house deep within a housing subdivision. Outside of that - it was a great house with great hosts.

We loved the ocean views from the bedroom and front porch, as well as the coqui chorus in the evenings. Hosts were friendly and helpful. The property was clean and convenient to the airport and local grocery store. Would definitely return next time we're on the Big island..

Perfect vacation!
We loved staying here! We were only on the big island for a short time but as soon as we walked in the door I loved the beachy vibe! The house was clean and airy! It was nice to be able to use the washer and dryer while we were there. Although we didn't get a chance to go play at the beach there was a nice supply of beach supplies there for us to use. Thank you so much for the beautiful stay!

We had a fabulous time staying in this beautiful home. Everything was perfect...there is nothing I would change. We especially loved sitting out on the lanai overlooking the ocean with a warm fire in front of us. Perfect.

Quiet paradise off the beaten path
We truly enjoyed our time at this property. We loved being away from the hustle and bustle of downtown Kona yet we were still close enough to enjoy all Kailua-Kona has to offer. The property was clean and comfortable and the views cannot be beaten.

Fantastic Oasis!
We absolutely loved this property. The house is very nice and the owners are so kind! We were very impressed with everything and enjoyed every moment of our stay there!

Aloha Kona
Four of us enjoyed our stay at “The House of Peace.” The house is comfortable and spacious with a terrific balcony and sunset view. The family that owns the property is friendly and helpful. They live directly below the rental. As a previous reviewer mentioned this home is in a subdivision with small lots so you are sharing your Hawaiian experience with others living real (non vacationing) lives.

Two days into our 6 night stay my husband and agreed: Ka Hale O” Mahuhia felt like home. The hostess greeted us and provided an introduction to the home and a gift of wine and fruit. The kitchen, linen closet, game supply, water toys and Hawaii guidebooks were ample and quality! The view from the deck was stunning. Beds were comfortable and the windows and huge fans provided great ventilation for comfortable nights! We highly recommend the home. You won’t be disappointed. We like the location because it is close to our favorite beaches and out of the Kona busy day and night life. If you want a quiet, comfortable place to wake up, use as a daily departure point, and relax at night, this is it!

Fantastic stay
We enjoyed our stay so much in this apartment and we were sad when we had to leave. Three nights were just not enough. The Steinkes are so sweet and great to talk to. When we arrived they greeted us and we had a good chat about local restaurants and things to do. The apartment was clean (always important for us) and just beautiful. In the evening we enjoyed the fire pit and beautiful sunsets and after this we could even watch a Netflix movie in bed ;)
We would definitely come back and can highly recommend this apartment to other travellers.

Perfect place. Perfect view. Wonderful owners!
Most excellent. Our family of 4 (2 adults, 2 teenaged boys) really enjoyed this house.
It has very little road noise, and very quiet as a whole. The owners were great- everything was ready for us including all the beach supplies we needed! The finishings inside were first rate, with all the cooking items you could need. The beds and pillows were very comfortable.
The view- can't say enough about the view. Amazing. You won't regret staying here one bit!

Mahalo Nui Loa
Ka Hale 'O Maluhi location is convenient, close to amenities, neighborhood quiet and serene. The bedrooms were cool and comfortable. We had most of our meals in the fully equipped kitchen. The spacious living room provided ample room for relaxing and visiting. We spent lots of time on the deck, morning coffee, late evenings and a nice refuge when raining. Laundry facilities were convenient and the beach equipment was much appreciated. Our hosts were wonderful and very helpful with recommendations for dining and activities. Such a wonderful environment for our vacation.

Very comfortable and clean rental with a good rate for the size. Beautiful view and quiet neighborhood. Owners are incredibly helpful and welcoming. Bottle of wine is a terrific touch!

Well appointed property with GREAT amenities. Beautiful ocean view.
We enjoyed this property very much. The home is very comfortable, and we really enjoyed the front deck and view. We frequently commented about how well-stocked it was, from the many kitchen utensils to the beach gear. This is the first beach property we stayed at that offered everything we could think of: beach towels, cloth bags, chairs, umbrellas, mats, snorkel gear, cooler, etc, etc. It was nice to have all of that available. It is also in a GREAT location for access to some of the most popular activities: whale watching tours, swimming with dolphins, manta ray dives, BEAUTIFUL accessible beaches.
We had several communications with Kuulei (property owner), and she was always interested in helping and quickly replied with answers. Thanks for the excellent and open communication!
Here are some things to be aware of:
- The property is in a subdivision with very steep roads. Although I walked "around the block" a few times, this is definitely not for the timid, and you should not expect to walk around right in the neighborhood for leisure strolls. It was a very good cardiovascular workout!
- The property is essentially an upper "flat" with residents in the lower level. The washer and dryer are shared, so you may need to work with them to arrange a good time for laundry.
- The family next door and in the lower level both have dogs that enjoy barking occasionally. It wasn't continuous, but could be noisy at times (especially the dog next door). The dog in the lower level "did it's duty" on the synthetic grass below, which wasn't pleasing to look at as it piled up, and occasionally interfered with the fresh Hawaii air we were enjoying.
None of these things prevented us from enjoying a week-long vacation at this property. I just think it is helpful for people to know before renting / arriving.

Perfect getaway, perfect location
This house is the perfect place to have a great view of the sunsets, be away from the crowds, but still be close to all the great things this island has to offer. Highly recommend this amazing, well-appointed home!

A place of peace during IRONMAN Week
We stayed here for 12 days during IRONMAN week. Two of us were on the island to work, and one of us was racing the race. This was absolutely perfect for us....it was a retreat away from the chaos of town, but close enough to everything so we could get to what we needed to get to for work and the race.
The Steinke family is so welcoming and so willing to do anything to make your stay more enjoyable or comfortable. We loved chatting with them and meeting the boys. Harley (the dog) was also a favorite. :) They put together a book of local recommendations, which we used and really appreciated.
We loved having meals out on the lanai overlooking the Pacific coast, and evenings spent working were much more enjoyable out on the sectional on the lanai by the fire pit.
The bedrooms are spacious and the kitchen is well-stocked with all tools you may need. Past guests have left behind some spices/staples too, so that's really handy to check on before heading to the store for groceries (we recommend Costco and KTA).
If the Big Island ever calls us back, we absolutely will be seeking to stay at Ka Hale 'O Maluhia. The memories we made there and on our entire trip will not soon be forgotten.

Would stay again
The house was very clean. Located in a quiet neighborhood which was important since we had the windows open when we slept. The deck had a nice view. Was located relatively close to the boat harbor for SCUBA trips (about 15 min drive). Didn't really spend very much time there because we were always out doing things. Chose this rental due to its central location along the west coast and the fact that it had three bedrooms. And because it looked cute. Was not dissapointed.

Far surpassed our expectations!
We had such a great experience at the home of Garrett and Kuulei! It was a beautiful home with every amenity needed. The lanai out front was cool and breezy and we spent all if our spare time and meal time enjoying the amazing view.the elevation there makes it much cooler that down at the beach. So delightful! There is a cute little market not far away that carries an unexpected amount of groceries and precooked food. Our hosts were such a cool little family. We enjoyed the conversation and their eagerness to accommodate our needs. Kuulei was incredibly helpful in keeping me updated on the condition of the island as the hurricane came and went, as we were scheduled to arrive the next week. We would 100 percent stay there again and highly recommend it! We were so sad to leave!

Perfect Rental for Our Nearby Wedding
Aloha!
The rental was fantastic! We booked for 5 adults and there was plenty of space for all of us. We choose this location due to the 1) interior design which is spacious, welcoming and relaxing, and 2) our Coffee Farm wedding venue was very close by.
The ocean view was a bit obscured by the Vog. We weren't bothered much since we were relatively busy with wedding plans, and because we fully expected it since Mount Kilauea was erupting during our visit. I think the only downside to our stay was that we weren't sure were the washer and dryer were, so we opted not to use them.

Very comfortable
Very nice place to stay while on the big island! Beautiful view from porch. Nicely furnished and decorated with all the amenities we needed. Close to airport and to other areas around Kona.

This was an absolutely perfect holiday option!
This is a beautifully presented, comfortable, clean home. We were in Kona for a wedding where our family was getting together and space was perfect for the 6 of us, with everything having been thought of - from wine and fruit on arrival, lovely body wash/toiletries and pantry staples to ensure our stay was as comfortable as possible.
Our hosts couldn’t have been more accomodating and I am incredibly grateful for their hospitality and for being so great regarding our little boy (11months). I would highly recommend you book this lovely home - you will not regret it! Thank you so so much, we’ll be back!

We loved our stay here in Kona!
We spent five nights here as a family of six over Christmas 2017, and we loved it! The location was good, the house was nicely appointed and the view was great. We didn't get to meet the owners as they were away for the holidays, but they were available by phone to help us with our questions, which was much appreciated. We enjoyed cooking a few meals in the home and spending time on the deck with the ocean view. The home includes the basics for what you will need and even a few perks, including some random snorkeling gear and other beach items, DVD movies and a few video games. The master bathroom was especially nice with two sinks and a beautiful shower. The shower/tub combo in the second bathroom is nice for the kids. Note that the laundry facilities are in the owner's area of the home, so we did end up using a local laundromat, but that wasn't a problem. We would certainly stay here again if we ever get back to the Big Island!

Beautiful, clean and comfortable
We enjoyed staying at Ka Hale 'O Maluhia. Kuuleinani and Garret were always very quick to respond and easy to communicate. Very nice people with a beautiful baby! The apartment was spotless clean! It is very spacious and there were a lot of room for four of us. We enjoyed the distant ocean view from the lanai over breakfast every morning, and we enjoyed the fire pit at night while we gathered and talked. This is one of the best locations in Kona. It is only 12 mins to the airport and 15-20 mins to Costco, Walmart, and Safeway. Because the house is situated at the elevation of 1500 ft, the micro-climate is comfortable with nice breeze even on a sunny day. We would love to come back!

Very welcoming home with very nice hosts. Everything was very clean, the only thing was it had a smell of just been fumegated, but I'd rather have that smell than little visitors.
