About this house rental
Woodmoor House, a beautifully appointed farmhouse from 1865 in the Historic District of the hamlet of Cragsmoor, sits atop a bluff nearly 2000 feet above sea level with stunning views of Hudson Valley, just minutes from Sam’s Point Preserve on Shawangunk Ridge and nature trails. A short trip from NYC, you will find plenty of activities for outdoor enthusiasts: hiking, biking, cross country skiing, rock climbing, golf and swimming holes. And for those who prefer indoor activity: a haven for thrifting and antiquing.
This sprawling house has been renovated to include the beauty and charm of its original design of open family living, and is ready to accommodate big groups to settle in and relax. Have your coffee in the morning sun on the southern patio, then take a stroll through the gorgeous Cragsmoor Historic District to admire all the beautiful homes that make this mountaintop hamlet so unique.
Sitting on a bit over an acre, the house has six bedrooms; five with queen beds and one with bunk beds each with a mountain or meadow view. Four of the bedrooms are on the second floor and one is on the ground floor that may accommodate those who cannot negotiate stairs. The finished attic has a large common area with two single beds and a full bedroom with a queen bed and ensuite powder room. The large master suite has a deck overlooking the mountains. A large, farmhouse-style-yet-modern kitchen has a bay window with mountain ridge views, keeping it bright and light-filled. The kitchen counter, complete with stools, and large sectional offer sitting space for family and guests to keep company while sipping coffee over breakfast, as well as a large, round, eat-in kitchen table. The kitchen is totally stocked with everything you’ll need for preparing large family meals including Instant Pot, Kitchen Aid stand mixer, hand mixer, salad spinner, pancake griddle, panini/waffle maker, food processor, cookie sheets, pie pans, slicers, dicers, etc. plus oils, spices, sugar, flour, etc. The dining room has a 9-foot table that can accommodate 12 seated guests, with a view of the meadow, and candle-lit chandeliers.
The large living room with its cozy seating, includes a wood-burning fireplace and a large projection TV to enjoy a movie or your latest Netflix binge.
Outside is a Weber gas grill and an 8-foot picnic table with umbrella for outdoor dining along with Adirondack chairs, plenty of folding lawn chairs and a fire pit. There are three electric bicycles available for guests' use. Helmets and instructions are provided but guests use these bicycles at their own risk. The summer nights can be quite cool on the mountain so bring warm clothing.
Dogs are welcome. 💜
NOTE: Bunk beds have safety bars that should always be used for anyone sleeping on the top bunk. Failure to use is at guests' own risk.

Loved the house, it was fully stocked. Enjoyed hanging out by the fireplace with family. Cooked with ease, I didn't have to search for any cooking apparatus. When we went out to eat we went to Aroma Thyme Bistro and Gaby's. Jeff communicated really well with me. I would definetley rent again, and don't forget to visit Sam's Point.

Stayed here as four families (including 5 kids under 6) for New Year. The house was just as described/pictured, comfortable and beautiful. Really well laid out with lots of communal space. Great amenities, and everything was well labeled, so easy to find. Seems like a nice quiet area, any neighbors while outside saw were very friendly. The stone church and overlook down the road were an exciting bonus. Host was very responsive and very generous. Would highly recommend a stay here!

My family and I had a great stay in Cragsmoor. Plenty to do on the property, well-stocked kitchen, comfortable accommodations, and great views an easy walk away. It was perfect!

The host Jeff was fantastic! The house had everything we needed for a multi generational family event. Wonderful location and secluded.

I would describe the Woodmoor House as old meets new with a funky groove.
Woodmoor has plenty of room to spread out. Our family of 12 gathered in all of the spaces, but the kitchen seemed to be the favorite. How many homes have a sectional couch in the kitchen? The house has many unique features throughout. The weather was a bit uncooperative, however we were able to fit a hike to Sam’s Point Preserve, corn hole competition and grilling/eating on the back deck in between rain showers.
There was plenty to do inside if we had to stay inside. The Bose stereo system and piano are a bonus for music lovers.
Both got their use. Bedrooms and beds are comfortable. Everything about the house is comfortable and cozy. You’ll find everything you need. We highly recommend Jeff’s home. He is very accommodating, in touch and available. Jeff and his home will not disappoint.

Our family loved everything about this house. It is the perfect combination of old meets new. The location is in a secluded area; however, just a short drive to everything you need. The house was spotless and very comfortable. Do not hesitate to book....this is a true gem. Jeff was fantastic to work with, very responsive, and his hospitality was second to none. We would not hesitate to book again!

We had a group of nine in the area for some hiking this weekend. The house is very spacious and comfortable for a large group. The kitchen is stocked with everything you could possibly need and we enjoyed fires in the living room. The area is beautiful and the Stone Church down the street was an extra bonus!

Amazing house. Amazing owners.
Always in touch. They prepared everything to us. Towels, drinks, Christmas tree, speaker, games, TV in each room….
They did all for us.
Incredible location. Stone Church 6min walk.
Everything was clean.
1000 thanks for Jeff and for everybody who helped him to prepare house for us.
If you are looking for a house for big company, for sure it is the best place

This lovely home has all the amenities we could possibly have wanted, plus historic charm and a cozy feel. While the owner’s possessions were definitely stashed out of the way, you can tell someone really lives here and knows how to make things comfortable, for example, the cabinet of games and puzzles, extra lounging pillows, and candles for the dining table. We had 11 adults, 2 young children and a baby there for a family Thanksgiving get-together. There were plenty of spaces for being together like in the huge kitchen, large dining area and living room with a nice fireplace supplied with plenty of wood. There are also plenty of private spaces to retreat to with the 6+ spacious, comfortable, and attractive bedrooms. The weather was cold so we didn’t spend much time on the two decks and balcony, but they were nice to be able step out on to see birds at the feeders or the stars at night. The third floor bedroom suite was perfect for our young couple with the baby. We did all our own cooking and, as promised in the description, the kitchen had everything we needed including a large roasting pan for the turkey and a Kitchen Aid mixer. Jeff, our host, is incredibly generous in providing all the staples you need and then some! He was very responsive to questions via Vrbo messaging and texting. We also had two small dogs and took walks to Stone Church multiple times, and to Bear Hill, as suggested in the information book in the house. There are too many positive features and extra touches to mention them all, but to summarize, we were more than satisfied and would definitely recommend Woodmoor House!

I rented this home for my 30th bday with family and friends (11 total) and we had a blast and we were so comfortable over a long weekend. Jeff, the host, was extremely helpful and answered as many questions as I needed. He even reached out with best driving routes, nearby grocery and liquor store options, and hikes/ things to do in the area.
This house is WELL stocked with everything, hands down the best rental I've ever stayed in.
We had no trouble finding all cooking supplies we would ever need, and we make everything from scratch. My brothers and I cooked 4 large meals while there and it was like cooking in my own home. There's even a couch and table in the kitchen so its not closed off and easier for others to help. Plenty of silverware, mixing bowls, serving platters and real stainless pots and pans (not the cheap kind rentals typically have). The ice machine was a huge plus for a group this large, as was the 2nd fridge in the basement. Well stocked in spices, salts, cooking oils, s'mores supplies and even some things in the fridge like mayo that are annoying to buy for one weekend.
Sleeping arrangements were great, all of the mattresses were newer and a comfortable but supportive memory foam. Clean sheets and plenty of extra blankets and pillows within the home. Plenty of room for 11+ to sleep comfortably.
The outdoor space was lovely. THREE renovated patios with new/ clean lounge chairs, picnic tables and a grill, one is even attached to a bedroom. We spent a lot of time on the one right off the kitchen. Lots of chairs for a late night fire too (though we did bring some extra camp chairs and ended up using them for a group this big)
The house is beautifully decorated, set up for many cozy hangs and lots of interesting books, art, games, little surprises and so many thoughtful details. You can tell Jeff truly cares about his guests experience and has gone the extra mile to make them feel at home and comfortable. We truly wanted for nothing over this trip. The photos don't do this property justice, I have rented a lot of houses upstate NY and this was the only one I have stayed at where no one had any complaints!
Its nestled right between Ellenville and Mountainedale, both very cute small towns. We ate Dinner nearby at Hoot Owl which was absolutely incredible food for service and flavors, and another meal at The Dale one night
Thank you Jeff for an unforgettable stay. Would highly recommend this home and the host.

Perfect Getaway
The house and property are lovely. We saw wild dear, humming birds, and so much more just from the back yard. We were within walking distance of several beautiful trails and the towns near by had some great restaurants. It's also near the Angry Orchard Brewery. Jeff kept the place well stocked, was prompt when we had questions, and was happy to make suggestions about places to go and eat. The house was clean, easy to navigate, and spacious while still feeling like a home. The outdoor space (patio and yard) was well maintained and simply beautiful. I would highly recommend.

Cragsmoor Mountain Top Getaway
We had a group of 8 adults and 4 children. This property was perfect for us. Enough beds for everyone, beautiful historic home in a great location. Short walk to take in magnificent views. The home was well stocked with all of the necessities to prepare a huge feast. Jeff was very accommodating and quickly addressed any questions we had.
Highly recommend.

MLK weekend getaway
Our group of 3 families with 6 adults and 8 kids ranging in age from 6 to 13 travel together each MLK weekend. Our usual spot was unavailable due to covid this year and we were fortunate enough to find this lovely house. It was perfect for our group. Every single detail was accounted for. It was insanely cold our weekend so we were unable to take advantage of the numerous trails for hiking nearby but we plan to return in warmer weather to check it out.

Cozy beautifully kept home
We celebrated my mothers's 70th birthday by bringing all my siblings and our families together at the house. We had 4 kids under the age of 9 and 9 adults. The house is very cozy and spacious at the same time. We all could fit at the dining table and we all had places to sit around the fire. The house was warm and the firewood was ready for us on arrival. Jeff has stocked the home with everything you can imagine and is very generous in terms of food, condiments etc. We LOVED the projector, the board games and the seating in the living room. If you are looking for a country rustic (although happily with all the modern amenities) feel this house is just perfect. I am pretty germ phobic and I was really pleased to see how very clean the house was. The bedrooms are sweet -- including the lovely attic space. The neighborhood was very quiet. We enjoyed the stone church, Sam's point, and Storm King Art Center while at the house. We will definitely rent this home again. Jeff could not be more responsive - although there was not much we needed given how nicely prepared the house was. We highly recommend.

Had a great long weekend with a group of friends and kids from 5 months to 2 1/2. Lots of great recs from the host who was very quick to respond before and during our stay. Very nice place with big eating and hang out areas. Great kitchen with pantry items, s'mores and extra drinks all stocked. It was unseasonably hot, but fans and windows kept up for the most part. Close to great hikes, vinyards, and beautiful views within walking distnace. Would absolutely recommend.

We had a great time, despite the rain. Just a 5-minute drive from Sam’s Point, which is great hiking.

Jeff's home was wonderful. We have three families with eight little children and all felt very comfortable in the space. Nothing better than a warm fire after a cold hike. Thank you, Jeff.

Charming house in great location!
Jeff is a great host: warm and welcoming and very responsive! The house has updated bathrooms and we found the beds comfortable. Linens/towels are provided, which makes it easier to just come and relax with less packing to do. The house is also well stocked with more than the basics (not that we needed), but nice that it was there. As promised, plenty of tools/pans to cook with, which was a boon compared to other properties where there is only 1 pan and 1 spatula! Plenty of firewood to enjoy either the fireplace or the firepit outside. Our children happily practiced their piano, so we lost no progress there while we were away. We love this area as it is not far from Ellenville's restaurants and very close to Sam's Point. Hope to stay here again next year!

Beautiful friendly Cragsmoor
We loved our stay in Cragsmoor. The location and views are extraordinary and the neighborhood very friendly. The house is spacious and well equipped. Our stay was interrupted by the hurricane Isaias and we lost power for two days. The owner was in constant contact and the neighbors very helpful. A generator would be a good addition to the property given the intensity of storms these days.

Wonderful respite!!!
We have stayed in mountain homes and enjoyed our time there and Jeff’s beautiful Woodmoore House is another to add to our list! As temperatures soared in Manhattan, we enjoyed the relative cool of this higher altitude location. We had friends join us who are originally from Nairobi and the temperate climate reminded them of home! Jeff was very helpful, responding to our inquiries quickly with thoughtful suggestions to make the most of our stay. His home is well appointed with everything we needed for a fantastic weekend away. There were eleven of us in total and there was more than enough room to spread out and take advantage of some much needed quiet time. We took in some great hiking and biking and for the first time did not eat out once or order in: the kitchen was fully stocked with every kind of equipment and the large farm house dining table seated all of us comfortably. Thank you for a wonderful getaway Jeff! We hope to return.
Kindly,
The Taylor crew
