wonderful get away
We stayed at this property over 4th of July. It's located in a beautiful setting in the Catskill Mountains. The house has a lot of character that really added to the whole experience. If we are ever in the area again, we will definitely seek out this property to stay.

We so enjoyed the cozy cottage Blithewood. The kitchen and appliances were fine for making meals. All the separate porches are great for having a quiet place to read and the dining room, living room and porch picnic table are wonderful gathering places. The setting is beautiful. Bob is a great host!

The Shawangunks were new to me, and they are beautiful. This place is very conveniently located for hikes. Not to be missed is Bear Hill which is less than a mile from the house. Great views. The house is spacious, comfortable, and well appointed. The kitchen has all you need, except for food, of course. Highly recommended.

Beautiful autumn in Cragsmoor
We had a wonderful stay in Bob’s lovely house. It’s perfectly located for Fall views, very convenient to some great hiking, and a short drive into town for the essentials. Bob was always a text away for any questions. Overall, we definitely recommend this rental. Thank you Bob!

The property itself was great, especially considering that the house is like 100 years old. There's also good hiking in the area and because it's up on a mountain, the views are really great. Area is kind of a food desert though. In terms of the house itself, it could use a larger TV; most people aren't coming here to stare at a screen though so I don't hold that against the place. However, the beds (especially the pillows) need updating, not the most modern or comfortable I've seen. All in all though I'd recommend this place and would consider staying again.

Very pleasant and cozy place, you can see the deer close by even at day time. Bob was there when we got to the house to greet us, we will go back.

Oldie Goldie!
This house was a great find. Plenty of room with lots of porches and old fashioned charm. Close to all the parks. Beautiful, spacious property. The owners were friendly and accommodating. We would definitely stay here again!

Loved the house
It is a wonderful old farm house that is on the historic registry. It has porches, sun room and decks all around the house, very easy to find a nice place for study, rest or relaxation. It was about 1.75 hours from the city but next door to the State Park. Loved it. Thank you.

He was even kind enough to come back with some suggestions of places to go for fireworks. The house was clean and nice. Soooo many places to sit and relax or even eat. Thank you for an amazing stay, you’re a wonderful host and have a beautiful home. I would definitely recommend this place.

Family vacation
This property is beautiful and exactly how Bob described it. My mother out-law loved the historical aspect and just couldn’t believe she was staying in such a cool place. We also loved how the property had three deer living on it and we got to see them every morning. Bob was a great host. We didn’t need anything however he was close by if we had. Would definitely stay here again.

Lovely and spacious house
Bob is a great host and provided a comfortable stay. Definitely a great place for some peace and quiet, whether it’s on the side porch where you can have dinner outside, in the sunroom to do some reading, or in the living room with the fireplace. Walkable for hiking at Bear Hill or Sam’s Point, and a 30 minute drive to Mohonk Mountain House.
Word of caution if you’re not familiar with the area, the roads are winding and there aren’t any street lights, so trying to find the house late at night is a bit of an adventure, drive slowly!

Nice home, no heat, extremely cold
That house was cute and cozy a beautiful setting in the country, the owners are extremely nice, however there is no heat in the house and we were freezing the whole time, 3 little space heaters just wasn’t enough, if you have them in your bedroom, then when you go to the bathroom it was 32 degrees and freezing, in the morning you go downstairs there is no heat, kitchen is freezing. I would highly suggest central heat and air, no vacation is fun when you are freezing to death. Also I would suggest you get a keurig coffee pot , the old ones where you have to brew are way out of date and the filter holder was filthy, I had to scrape crud out with a knife just to make sure we didn’t get sick from drinking coffee out of it. Don’t get me wrong I loved the location and the scenery and the house is great, but it is certainly time for some updates to the house, especially central heat and air. I would recommend renting it if you could make those changes. Thanks for being such a great person to rent from, and making all transactions extremely easy, we felt very welcome there,
Debbie James

Quiet, Quaint, Peaceful!
We loved the charm of this historic site... It's in a great location and close to everything we wanted, but remote enough for a very peaceful stay. We deeply enjoyed our time at Bob's home and plan to return next summer!

Loved it! Peaceful, comfortable, restful. Would definitely recommend it!
We just love this place! It's so comfortable, peaceful, and beautiful. The front porch was our favorite place to hang out and drink coffee in the mornings. Every day we saw deer, squirrels, and a variety of birds. It's a convenient location for hiking, sightseeing. We all had such a great time that we didn't want to go home. The Shulman's are super friendly and accommodating. We would definitely recommend this property and would stay there again.

We love this house
This house is a wonderful place to stay. The bedrooms are upstairs, but there are good railings to hold on to. No AC but when you open all the windows the airflow is wonderful. There are baseboard heaters downstairs and on a cool summer evening you can have a fire in the fireplace.
The kitchen is fully stocked.
We loved eating out on the covered porch.
We would definitely recommended staying there. Sleeps 6 easily.

Really enjoyed our stay!
Very clean! Rustic with basic appliances. We had 3 couples so one couple had to split up in the 2 single bedrooms, which were cute little rooms. The other 2 rooms had double beds which were comfortable. No heat upstairs, but wasn't a problem as we like it cool when sleeping anyway. There were space heaters available and extra blankets in the bathroom closet. We loved having a fire in the fireplace every evening in the cozy living area and sunroom. Very quiet area with deer and rabbits coming through almost every day. The floors and doors do creak a lot so it's hard to be quiet when moving about but it is an old house that is on the historical register so is to be expected. Lighting is mostly with lamps but adequate. We felt like we had stepped back in time and we all loved it! Such a peaceful place to come "home" to each evening after a full day of activity. We made breakfast and supper most days but there are plenty of options for eating out too but is at least a 15-20 min drive. Bob was very easy to work with and available for any questions or concerns even brought us extra firewood on our last night.

Eight days in paradise
My wife and I spent 8 days in this lovely place, and it was above and beyond all expectations. Breathtaking views, silence and tranquility. Birds, rabbits, deer, and fantastic air... It smells like incense. A 100-year old house has been carefully preserved, and every detail keeps the spirit of old times... at the same time, the house is modern and very comfortable.
It was a great pleasure to communicate with the owners - just like staying with dearest friends.
I am so happy that I found this home and so grateful to the owners for making our stay really unforgettable. I would definitely recommend it.

Wonderful Rustic Summer Rental
A little rustic as expected but all the essentials were provided. Loved the variety of wildlife. Owner was very responsive and professional and easy to work with.

Great place, great area
We (5 adults) arrived about 10 pm and yet Bob made it so we could get right in, he even came over to see if we could find everything. The place was clean and comfortable, and had all the utensils we needed in the kitchen. It is an older home with hard wood flooring, so it does tends to creek when you walk across, especially upstairs. We enjoyed the beautiful surroundings, having breakfast on the front porch. This house has a lot of places to sit and enjoy the area. All things considered we had a great time. Definitely recommend this place.
