About this house rental
Welcome to Steelhead Creek Vineyards! We came to Sonoma County 15 years ago, planted a vineyard and started making wine. We love it here and this is our home. It's a beautiful place and we enjoy sharing this piece of heaven with you. We tend to our sheep and goats. We work in the vineyard, and we love living here. Come stay with us. Your barn is completely private and you will have access to all the grounds and trails, as well as all the wildlife and birds. You will be welcome here. It's beautiful and quiet, and we love the serenity and peacefulness that you will experience while staying here.
You are renting 2 bedrooms; one upstairs with full bath and one downstairs with another full bath (shower only). If there are more than 4 in your party, or you would just like access to 1 or both of the additional bedrooms, please let us know and we can modify your reservation to accommodate you. The maximum number of guests we can accommodate at the barn is 8.
This is a spacious, well-appointed working barn among the vines on 258 acres. Sheep and goats nearby, can be seen from the barn windows, and will add to your "in the country" experience. The ultimate private location. About 1.5 hrs north of Golden Gate. In Sonoma county but right next door to Napa county. Short drive to Calistoga, St Helena, Sonoma, Santa Rosa, Kenwood, and Healdsburg. In the heart of the wine country, surrounded by vineyards, wineries and great restaurants. All amenities provided. A full kitchen, as well as a covered outdoor dining and kitchen with dishwasher, refrigerator, and grill. Check out the wildlife from the barn deck and relax. A unique getaway! Peaceful setting surrounded by a working farm

Staying at Thai and Cynthia’s barn was a dream! They had excellent communication before and throughout our stay and the barn is beautiful. Our whole family loved the animals on site and enjoyed the chance to walk around the huge property, we didn’t feel the need to leave the place during our 3 day stay. We’d love to make it back again in the future! Thanks Thai!

As a frequent Vrbro user the Barn is truly spectacular, it was the most enjoyable property my family has ever rented.
We were up valley and exploring Sonoma for a family gathering and the Barn is hands down the most well stocked and maintained property we have every booked.
Quiet, secluded, and very comfortable for a family style gathering and entertaining.
There are multiple options for entertaining, the outside grill and great table under the deck is well suited for group gatherings and then there is the great room off the kitchen upstairs.
The property checks off every box.
The kitchen was fully stocked with plenty of cookware and any gadget you could need to entertain.
The property is on a private well-maintained road, you should plan to arrive with enough daylight to locate the Barn. We were supplied with clear instructions so there were no issues finding the Barn and once you drive towards the Barn you are truly in love with the property.
10 out of 10 stars for the Barn.

If you're looking for something off the beaten path, this is your spot! A lovely and well-appointed space, surrounded by nature... Hosts, Thai and Cindy are gracious and friendly. We enjoyed the surroundings, the animals and even snacking on fresh cherries right off of the trees! We whole-heartedly recommend!

You will not regret it! If you want to escape from the busy city life, this is the place for you. I’ve been to Sonoma many times, but this is definitely my first scenic stay. I could simply sit on the patio and just enjoy the view all day.
Thai was very pleasant to work with. Very responsive and accommodating.

This property was everything represented in the listing and exactly what we were looking for in a week stay. Thai is an excellent host and very attentive. The property is very well kept and especially clean. Having fruit trees: pears, persimmons, pomegranates, limes and perfectly ripe figs along with tomatoes and of course the abundant rosemary was an unexpected treat. The drive in is everything they say, beautiful, but don't attempt it in the dark! We would love to come back.

Let me start off with this: pay attention to the VRBO host’s detailed directions. At first, our group was flabbergasted at the lengthy directions. It all made sense when we finally arrived at the perimeter of the property.
Tucked between the peaks of Bennett and Bald mountain is the gem of a property that sat on acres of vegetation and livestock. The property is a converted barn. 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and an outdoor seating dining area to die for.
(Did I mentioned that the place has air conditioning!)
The house is tranquil, and the owners thought of every little detail to incorporate everything you might need during your stay. Had we put more thought behind this excursion, we would have done another lavish grilling session and stayed in.
Pro tip: because it takes approx ~15 minutes to get to the property through a bunch of narrow, windy roads, plan out your day ahead and give yourself the time needed for ingress and egress.
Would 100% come back again and highly recommend it!

Wine Country Paradise
The barn and property were beyond stunning. The house couldn’t have been more perfect and Thai is such a gracious and responsive host! We came for a long weekend to celebrate my husbands birthday with some friends and rented the converted barn. There was plenty of space for the 8 of us and the house was stocked with everything you could possibly need. We will definitely stay here again!

Family stay for a wedding in sonoma county
We chose this barn property because we wanted to be in a vineyard and be surrounded by nature, and that we got! It was a unique and pleasant retreat for our family. We were here for a wedding so we only had a 3 day stay before we took off to Yosemite. The drive to this property was definitely the most memorable for us, through a long windy 1.5 mile road, but in a beautiful and serene setting, and through 3 automatic gates. In getting to The barn, we were greeted by a horse and the rolling vineyards. Everything was clean, up to date and as described. Don’t expect a typical house rental. Our two families had enough space to relax inside and out. The best was waking up and sitting on the porch with a cup of coffee or walking the property. We were surrounded by a beauty and peacefulness. Thai was wonderful and accessible to answer questions. Wish we were able to take advantage of the outdoor kitchen!

Great space but lacking some important details anyone used to vacation properties would expect.
The home and property are lovely and the communication with owners was prompt. They even left a welcome bottle of wine which we enjoyed
That said, there were some things that were missing or not ideal for the home. As someone who utilizes home rentals frequently, I was surprised by some of the set up. There is no closet space, no hangers, no armoire or even a dresser. No where to unpack and keep clothes tidy.
The room configuration is very awkward. The upstairs has three bedrooms. Two of those share a Jack and Jill bathroom, the only bathroom on the main floor. The other bathroom is in the downstairs bedroom. That means there is no access to a bathroom for the third bedroom or from common space, without walking through someone’s bedroom. Not ideal for middle of the night or early morning needs.
For entertainment, there is an older model TV in the kitchen but you can’t comfortably see it from the living space, and there is no smart access. So the last rainy foggy night before we left, we would have loved to watch a movie, but had to rearrange the living room to watch a network movie on direct TV, with commercials and limited choice. Fine, but not very comfortable or contemporary.
Finally, the access. It is a 1.5 mile narrow single lane steep twisty drive up and down, on a working farm so there is always bidirectional traffic. It was such a hassle getting in and out that once there, we wouldn’t want to go in to town for dinner, and coming home in the dark was dicey. Not very convenient for coming and going.
The house is comfortable and if you can stand the drive in and out, views are fantastic! We even saw a mountain lion in the distance on our last day. Overall it was lovely but didn’t feel like the most accommodating of home rentals in terms of details.

Amazing💜💜💜
The place was amazing. Very peaceful... went there for my daughter’ Bachelorette party very nice place to celebrate and enjoy yourself and the amazing view. Even though It’s off the beaten path we were able to still get a party bus to pick us up. The place is well worth it highly recommended 💜😊👌🏻

Delightful!
We loved our secluded, mini vacation at Thai and Cynthia’s house barn (and lovely vineyard). It has everything our multi-generational family needed and was so comfy and cozy, from indoor to outdoor. Nature is at our fingertips. We didn’t expect to spend so much time in the downstairs outdoor lounging and dining area, but after the first morning having our coffee or tea there, listening to the birds tweeting all around, and grilling every night, enjoying the sunset, chatting and seeing the stars fill the night sky, we just fell in love with this property. The house indoor is wonderful and so clean. The kitchen is well stocked, including a full spice rack. There’s dishwashers both indoor and outdoor - an extra level of convenience. We had planned only one excursion away from the property (Safari West), and had brought food along for all meals. But did find ourselves making a run to the Safeway that’s about 15 min away driving. By then, we had become familiar with the well-paved, well maintained, single lane road, and was able to enjoy the beautiful scenery of rolling hills all around, speckled with grape vines here and there. We are so grateful their property had been spared in the fires around the Santa Rosa area in the past years. We felt so relaxed after this vacation among the beautiful setting, with the horses and chickens looking out from the upper floor windows, and the gorgeous oak trees across from the outdoor lounging area. We had a chance to meet Cynthia and Thai, who are so warm, welcoming hosts, and had answered all of our questions via text or Vrbo message board or in person. They are experienced hosts and by following their written instructions for the drive to the property, house usage, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay even during the recent heat wave. Many thanks to them! (The only extra tips we can think of are to bring mosquito repellent coils or devices if planning to spend evenings outside in the downstairs lounge and dining area, and a heat shield for car windows during the day.)

Wonderful Getaway
My wife and I booked this property for a getaway with our adult children and their significant others. Owners are very nice and very responsive! Would definitely come here again. Plenty of space to congregate, talk and play games and also space to get out of the crowd and read a book. Property is beautiful. Could be closer to Napa but it is well worth the drive.

Lovely Set Up
We greatly enjoyed our stay here! It was a nice combination of convenience to Napa and Sonoma while also feeling remote (30 mins to Healdsburg and St Helena). The house and location are very special and helped us feel connected to the natural surroundings that make the area unique. Thai was a gracious host and even dropped off some fresh eggs our first morning! I'd highly recommend a stay here.

Simple. Rustic. Relaxed.
My family and I loved our stay. Thai was a great host - affable and kind when we bumped into him and responsive through text. The internet went out one morning and he got it fixed promptly. The kids loved the horses Dunny and Duke and the property is well maintained and beautiful. A great stay.

Luxury barn
This is a really lovely and unique place to stay. You are out in the hills, with nature all around and two horses for company. It has a fantastic big great room and is really well decorated and set up. We particularly appreciated the deck and grill for eating outdoors. The host was very gracious and helpful.

Great getaway in the hills
This is a great getaway close to the city, but secluded in the hills of Santa Rosa. It is up a windy road (only 10 minutes from Safeway), surrounded by vineyards and farmland. The location is really great.
The barn itself is well furnished and clean. Three bedrooms / 1 bath upstairs. 1 bedroom/1bath downstairs. The bathrooms are both through bedrooms so one bedroom occupant will need to go through another's bedroom to use the restroom.
The shared space is very large and open. The kitchen was the most well stocked kitchen I have seen in any short term rental property. We were there in the winter, but were still able to enjoy the lemons/limes grown right outside the barn. The kids loved watching the horses and chickens.
Great hosts and property!

We had a wonderful time staying at this lovely converted barn. There are plenty of tasteful amenities available to make our stay comfortable and homey. Absolutely amazing!
I highly, highly recommend everyone to stay at this property. the property is absolutely stunning. We stayed at the barn, which was absolutely done to perfection. The inside was done with very high-end appliances, countertops, and Furniture. It was incredibly welcoming as well as very comfortable. They thought of everything when they built this Barn. Thai was the best host ever. He was so patient answering all of our questions as well as being so accommodating with any of our request. He is just one of the nicest people you ever want to meet. He also lettuce feed the chickens and pet the horses. He truly cares about nature and truly cares about the property. And it really really shows. Unfortunately we did not get to meet his wife Cynthia, but she sounds like an absolute sweetheart as well. For anybody that's worried about the road to the property, there is absolutely, and I mean absolutely nothing to worry about. It is an exceptionally well paved road that is meticulously cared for. It is windy but then again you're in the mountains so that should be no shock. You just take it as a beautiful drive there's tremendous amount of nature to be seen. Thai and Cynthia made sure that every detail about how to enter the property was documented and very easy to follow. You will have absolutely no problem finding this property or driving the road. It is absolutely perfectly taken care of. I cannot think both of them so much for allowing us to stay on the property and have such allowing us to stay on the property and have such an amazing time. I again highly, highly recommend everybody to stay at this property you will not regret it. It is stunning, incredibly fun, and every detail for your comfort has been taken care of
