The 1500 sq. ft. 3 bedroom mountain cabin is located at (5600 ft elevation) above sea level in the heart of the Black Hills and surrounded by National Forest. The cabin is located among the pine trees on Edelweiss Mountain just twelve miles north of Hill City South Dakota and three switchback country miles off of the Scenic drive U.S. Highway 385. Located within minutes of Pactola Lake, Sheridan Lake, and the Mickelson & Centennial Trails.
The perfect area for boating, hunting, fishing, hiking, rock climbing, golfing, skiing, snowmobiling, mountain biking, off-roading, and sightseeing - Minutes from Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse Monument, and Custer State Park. The cabin is located near several ATV trails, drive to the trails from the cabin. Additional parking for trailers available on private lot. This mountain cabin retreat is truly in the heart of the Hills, hidden away from, but easily accessible to all Black Hills attractions.

Fun, easy and peaceful.

We had our yearly family vacation here this year and we couldn’t have been more relaxed and happy in this cabin away from home! It is far enough away from the city to relax but close enough to do everything we had on our list❤️

This is a nice enough older cabin off the beaten path. My main complaint is that the wifi password was no where to be found and we did not have cell service. There is a book that gives directions on how to get service which is nice, but having the wifi password available would have saved us some trouble. Also there are notes all over the cabin which are helpful but also contradictory. The website says to just start a load of laundry upon leaving but the note on the fridge says to wash and dry all laundry. The deck also seems like it has some weak boards which is a little scary. And there are some steps made of logs going down the hill in the trees and they are not secured at all. Overall this was a nice place to stay, just could use a few tweaks.

It is a nice place. It is almost like 2 places in one. We only used the upper level. The description of the surrounding area that they have for guests in their welcome book, was spot on. We feel blessed to have stayed there. Thank you

Very clean, spacious home in a quiet neighborhood. Comfortable beds and large deck to spend time outdoors. Beautiful views. Highly recommend this home for a fun getaway in the Black Hills.

Beautiful family getaway on nearly the top of a mountain. Beautiful views, plenty of room, and very peaceful. Hosts were easy to communicate with, informative, and thorough. It was a lovely stay.

Thank you for sharing your cabin in The Hills with our family!

Property was as expected. It was off the beaten path, but within an hour drive of everything we did each day, just plan ahead so you don't have to run back and forth throughout the day. Kitchen had everything needed, extra nice to have ice made for us upon arrival. The beds were comfortable. We didn't use the Murphy or couch bed. The driveway is VERY steep, but a beautiful area. Washing and fully drying all the towels was inconvenient as we would have liked to use the bathroom within an hour of leaving and had no towels, maybe a hand towel could remain in each bathroom?

Nice place, Very peaceful and Pine trees secluded. Other houses around but not real close, all in all very private. Home was very clean with plenty of necessities. About 3 miles off of Hwy 385 on a good gravel road. (Not an issue for us) Just minutes north of Hill City and close to Sheridan Lake. Excellent hiking trails there with great views around the lake. Great time was had by all.

Nice property and VRBO. We had 6 staying there comfortably. The kitchen is small but did have variety of essentials for prepping/cooking meals. Outside hydrant has a split pipe so does not work. We had no cell service. Roads getting there are switchback and steep. We had long trailers with all our ATV/UTVS so it was a little challenging. Would not like it if it was muddy or was raining. There was an area to be able to park the trailers and is specific with signs for that VRBO address but not at the site itself. The driveway is STEEP so be prepared. Getting to trails was easy enough. Some pretty views and very peaceful. Overall a good stay.

I live in the country so this was a great location and what im used to. The driveway is very steep like others have said, but i was able to make it just fine in 2 wheel drive in a suburban. My father in law made it with his Monte Carlo. The wifi internet was inconsistent and we weren't able to connect all of our devices. Im a Tech person, but i didnt have any time during our stay to figure out why as we had a busy itinerary and barely spent any time at the cabin. We loved the fact that the kitchen is well stocked with plates, cups, silverware, and even spices needed to prepare meals. The A/C works great and we all stayed very cool in June. Beds were very comfortable. The kitchen and main common area is on the 2nd floor along with 2 bedrooms and a bathroom. The Murphy bed, hide-a-bed sofa, 1 bedroom, and other bathroom are on the lower level. Lower level common area TV only has dvd player and dvd player with no cable or streaming capability. The TV upstairs has an Amazon fire stick as the only way to receive service. Overall we had a great time and enjoyed the peace and quiet of our cabin stay.

The home was very nice, everything was clean and worked. The description was accurate except I was expecting the kitchen to be on the main floor not upstairs, but that was not a problem. The view from the deck was excellent. No need to contact the property manager at all, definitely enjoyed the stay, would do it again.

Cabin was miles away from main road. We wanted something quiet and we got that. It’s great for little kids. Our four and one year old had a fun time at the cabin. It was a very easy stay. The cabin had everything we needed. It’s a great cabin for everyone!!!

We stayed at this property for fall break with our 2 teens and their friend. It was clean with 2 nice bathrooms, nice fluffy towels, good beds, and a nice sofa bed, plus a Murphy bed for an extra or two. We enjoyed our stay! The cabin is dated, but has all you need. We rented UTVs from Nemo which was very close, as well as being in the middle of the north and south tourist attractions. Which was nice. It is super dark and there are very twisty roads to get there. Also, you do need all wheel drive or turn off you traction control in order to get up the driveway.
Be prepared for spotty WiFi service and one TV is not compatible with a fire stick, only VHS options. The kids used their computer to stream a movie downstairs. The deck was nice to relax on. Our only suggestion would be more lights. It is very dim at night. We played cards and it was hard to see. And maybe a couple more night lights in the bedrooms. We live in town and are not used to it being so dark😁 thanks for a great weekend away!

A lot of thought went into making this cabin user friendly. It seemed that the owner thought of every small detail, and was very helping in completing last minute details. Directions to the cabin were clear. Our party was four adults, and the space was more than adequate for adults interested in hiking and visiting the Black Hills. Located in a wooded area, it was very quiet.

We stayed here to go trail riding. The property is close to the trails. It was clean and worked out very well for our group. Communication was very easy with the host and service was great when we needed it. Like when our propane ran out for the grill they got us another right away.

Great place. Enjoyed our stay. No complaints. Drive way is very steep but we knew this prior to staying. Had to take a run at it to make it all the way up, but made it. 🙂 Great location if you're looking to ride some trails.

It was a great stay only downfall was the steep driveway. Had to get a little start to get up the driveway when it was wet

Best amenities we’ve had at a VRBO. Kitchen had everything we needed. Our host was great. We had a car problem and he arranged help for us. The location was great. I enjoyed sitting on the deck and smelling the pines.

So impressed with this property! It is the perfect setting for a family vacation in the Black Hills.

Everyone on our vacation enjoyed our stay here! A clean place and a good location for all we wanted to do. It is a little bit of a drive to anywhere but that was advertised and we went prepared for it. We would stay again!

Great house surrounded by trees. Bit of a drive in and out of the property, but we are rural and used to that sort of thing. Driveway crazy steep.
Never turned the air on during our stay. Basement was chilly, and opening up those big doors really hit the spot, even in the middle of the day.
Kitchen is very small, really only suitable for a single cook.
Would stay here again.

This property was central to all the different attractions we visited during the week.

Everything was great! It is super comfortable, nicely decorated, with all the modern perks but feels isolated with a lovely view off the deck. Easy to get to everything in the area, and even day trips to Devils Tower and the Badlands. It felt like home for my two little kids. They didn’t want to leave!

We had a wonderful stay! The cabin was clean and well stock with everything we needed. Definitely stop for groceries before you arrive, as it is quite a trek to the nearest store. We were a little unprepared for the more out of the way location, but it did lend itself to quiet relaxing evenings after a busy day of sightseeing. Would recommend and stay again.

Nice central location not too far from all the activities!

Family friendly, close to 2 lakes with swimming beaches, in the middle of many different attractions with a short drive, plenty of room for family and kids to move around.

Lovely cabin in a great location with plenty of items to make your stay comfortable!

The cabin was clean and in a very peaceful location. Plan on a few extra minutes to go places because it takes a little bit to get off the mountain road. However, the few extra minutes are worth it. Enjoyed the cabin, and the location was close enough to the surrounding attractions and state/national parks.

The house was great Perfect for us there was lots of room it was a very nice place very quiet it was just what we were looking for.
It had a beautiful deck that went around with a wonderful gas grill that we used almost every night.
We saw lots of wildlife out there rabbits tons of deer it was just beautiful.
It had the largest laundry room I have ever seen which was great for us trying to do all of our laundry before we left.
We invited 5 of my friends over for dinner one night and with the large tables downstairs and the table upstairs we had Plenty of room for everyone it was just a very comfortable place I would recommend to anyone that had a family even though it was just three of us older ladies we enjoyed it very much as I like my privacy and I like it cooler so I stayed downstairs which was perfect my two friends stayed upstairs because they like it warmer and it was perfect for them.
The host was great I had a few questions and he was right on it answered me back right away.
We had no problems there everything worked great and I would Recommend anyone to stay here

Everything was good and located centrally to where we wanted to explore. The only real surprise for us was the steepness of the driveway.

This place was amazing! The property owners had everything you could possibly want- even shower products if you forgot yours. Every morning and evening we saw many deer walk right in front of our house! The deck was amazing, beds were comfortable, Wi-Fi worked amazing. We ran out of propane for the grill, and called the property owner, they answered right away and had someone get us some right away.
The only thing I would say was a set back for us was this house was about 2.5 miles up a dirt road on an incline into the mountain, which was so beautiful, but it took about 40 minutes to drive anywhere.

Great location in the mountains. It was in a location that made it easy to get to all the places we wanted to visit.

Amazing views, cozy home, very kind property owners. We ran into wifi connection issues and the driveway up to the house was a little hairy but additional parking was provided. Don’t bring your pet, sadly we had a problem with our RV for our fur babies and learned a lesson. Respect your property owners wishes.

Property was exactly as described
Conveniently located for visiting tourist destinations yet secluded enough to experience the quiet mountain atmosphere. We took ATV’s to enjoy the nearby trails. The extra parking at the bottom of the drive was definitely appreciated.
