Little house, big history! This charming cottage was built in 1890 and managed to survive the Great Hurricane of 1900 when many in the area did not, and has also survived numerous other powerful storms including Hurricane Ike in 2008. It has under gone a complete renovation and is now ready for your wonderful and relaxing Galveston vacation. Located just 21/2 blocks from the Seawall, Beachy Keen offers a comfy, put your feet up kind of vibe. The colors and decor are what you would expect in a little house by the sea. It has charm to spare but also boasts all the modern conveniences needed for today's travelers. A fully stocked kitchen and in-house washer/dryer offers you the option of a low key vacation with everything you need at your fingertips. However, if action and sightseeing are on your agenda, then you are in the right spot. Many of the islands restaurants and attractions are nearby. This was our second time staying here with our 2 German Shepherds! The yard is perfect size for them to do their business, the neighborhood is safe for a longer walks, and the beach is less than a mile away! We bring our kennels with us to keep them out of trouble for when we go out, and the bedroom has just enough space for one on each side of the media table. The house is perfect set up for a weekend stay! Everything we needed was easily accessed! Thank you again for a wonderful stay!

We come to Galveston for Thanksgiving as a traditional. We've stayed at Beachy Keen previously and are always quickly reminded of the things we love about it. Close to the things we like to do, homey, and quiet. We've already booked it again

Short walk to Seawall. The house is very well decorated with plenty amenities. Thoughtful details like doggie bowls, beach towels, coffee, also washer dryer! Feels very at home. Fenced in yard for the doggie. The house is well designed with the upstairs, where we stay, completely sealed off from the downstair studio. The owner is very responsive, easy check in check out. We are already planning for the next visit. Thank you!

Great pet friendly property in walking distance to the beach. We stayed 2 nights with our 2 dogs. The dogs enjoyed the fenced in yard that the upper unit has access to. We enjoyed the evening sea breeze from the deck that has a nice table that seats four.

Although I had some communication problems (international telephone), the arrival process was fine. The house was clean and had the amenities described on the site. The location of the house is good since it is close to the beach to walk but at the same time away from noise. The checkout process was easy and hassle free. Congratulations on the condition of the property and its cleanliness.

This property is in the perfect location! The neighborhood is super quiet yet you are close to the beach, shopping, food, and all the other things you want to see. The unit itself is spacious, full of natural light, well-stocked, and super clean. We thoroughly enjoyed are stay and will definitely book it again in the future.

This was a very nice, cozy stay. It had everything we could have needed. The house was very clean. The beds were a bit too firm for my taste but my husband loved it. All updated amenities. The outside could use painting and the gate is hard to open. But nothing that wouldn’t make not stay there again.

We enjoyed our stay in Galveston at a quaint location perfect for couples or couples with a small child. Two queen beds greeted us, along with a well equipped kitchen (Keurig). A large bathroom with double sinks (bring your own shampoo and soap) made the stay very comfortable. Two beach chairs and a wagon were provided for the two block walk to the beach. We wish we could have stayed longer in this well appointed location!

This is balanced feedback (positive & constructive) for our 5-night stay at Beachy Keen. On arrival, the A/C was on & super comfortable! But we discovered the hand soap & dish soap bottles had been watered down so much the soap was unusable. We then found that the barn door between the bathroom & bedroom was off its track. We put it back on its track with some difficulty as the door is very heavy but it wasn’t wide enough to close all the way and remain on its track. We put the luggage rack with our open suitcase against the door to keep it from swinging so it wouldn’t be unsafe for us or our dog. We used the other (pocket) door to the bathroom, but the opening where the barn door wouldn’t close all the way didn’t provide privacy for bathroom use. The following morning, in response to our message, the owners provided us with a bag of cleaning supplies (much appreciated!). One of the laundry pods had leaked so we cleaned & dried the pods before storing them. Then we discovered the patio table umbrella had broken spines so couldn’t be opened. We sent a message to the owner & he replied he wished we would have told him earlier as he was just there dropping off the cleaning supplies. We couldn’t sit out on the deck during our stay because the sun was too hot for us without shade from an umbrella. On our last day, we left the owners another message confirming our early departure. We mentioned the things we enjoyed about Beachy Keen & provided some additional feedback: a window in the bathroom that wouldn’t stay open (just for ventilation) & a very loudly squeaking dishwasher door that needed WD40. We also provided a recommendation that the living room TV might be mounted a little lower for more comfortable viewing. We treat every VRBO with great care and respect. We had hoped that the owners might welcome our feedback, thank us for our stay, or even say sorry for the things that we found uncomfortable. But we never heard back from them. We will end on the positives: Beachy Keen is a charming vintage beach cottage in a great location, with a big yard, delightful décor, good energy, 2 big screen TV’s, a cute doggie station, a Keurig coffeemaker, great A/C, comfortable shower and convenient washer/dryer. And, yes, the bed mattresses ARE hard as some other guests noted, but our aging back enjoyed that firmness.

This place was absolutely lovely. Ron and Tony thought of everything from a spare leash for my dog to a charger block for my phone (which I had totally forgotten). The house is just fantastic. It was perfect for me and my boyfriend to spend a weekend at the beach with my daughter. I can't explain how happy we were to see a shower that my 6'4" boyfriend could actually use comfortably. We will certainly be back. I wish I could give more than 5 stars 🌟

This was my birthday weekend with friends and everything was perfect. PS... when returning from the beach there is a waterspout with hose attached on the left side facing the house for cleaning off sand before entering the home which we missed ;) Oooops sorry Ron!!

We loved our stay at Beachy Keen! It was our 59th anniversary and we wanted to get away, somewhere quiet, but close to seafood. We picked the perfect place. We have a Yorkie and a Chiweenie, the yard was perfect, with birds singing and shady place to sit while the girls done their job. We had the best time at the The Spot, Benno’s and The Stingaree on Crystal Beach. Absolutely loved the quietness of the neighborhood, really relaxing. Ron was so pleasent anytime we asked anything of him. We will definitely be back!
