About this cottage rental
Lily Cottage is a charming character home tucked away in a quiet corner but close to the town centre. This much-loved cottage is finished to an extremely high standard – from muted tones to the breezily nautical - and has a good-sized garden with rattan furniture. Lily Cottage is an easy, level walk into town and the riverside. Ideally set up for a romantic stay for a couple or for small family holidays – pets are welcome, too. A parking permit is provided for the nearby car park.
Accommodation:
The property is accessed via a small step approaching the front door. There is a hallway with room for coats and boots with access to the shower room with an electric shower, electrically heated towel rail, toilet and wash basin.
Through to the cosy living room with sofa and armchairs, Freesat TV, soundbar, a DVD player and Sonos Bluetooth speaker. Limed oak-effect floor, wooden plantation shutters, electric wood burner-effect fire and underfloor heating.
At the rear of the property is the galley kitchen, complete with an electric double oven, small fridge with freezer, built-in fan heater, painted dresser, butler sink and small dishwasher.
Four deep steps lead up from the kitchen into a bright and airy dining room with a vaulted ceiling. Again, with lime oak effect flooring with underfloor heating, dining table, seating for six, sideboard and a wood burner with cosy seating beside.
From the kitchen, there is a narrow staircase which takes you to the first floor, where you will find the two bedrooms. The master bedroom has a double bed, built-in wardrobe, plantation shutters, limed effect floors and a freestanding electric radiator.
The second bedroom has a day bed that can be extended to make a double or twin. Again, with a built-in wardrobe and limed-effect floors.
Please be aware of the traditional nature of this old fisherman's cottage. A steep staircase may cause access issues for certain guests, and - being an old cottage - the ceiling heights and door frames are low.
There's underfloor and electric heating and a wood burner for comfort.
Outside:
Across the footpath from the front door, there is a fair-sized enclosed garden. A private space which is a lovely suntrap on a summer's afternoon. The rattan furniture is on a decked area, and past the deck is a further slate shingle area with mature shrubs.
It is possible to briefly park close to the cottage to unload.
Parking:
The car park pass provided is valid for the Mayors Avenue Car Park, a 2-minute walk away. The permit does not guarantee a parking space, and it can get very busy during the summer and special events, such as the Royal Regatta week (during which the car park is closed). The permit is also valid for the Park & Ride facility at the top of town.

House with character in a great location. Lack of parking space manageable and more than made up for by rest.

Stunning cottage , decor was lovely and very clean too
Lily cottage had a garden, opposite , gated off a footpath, we thought handy for our dog
What a shame lovely garden area, but like a jungle,
Rattan furniture ready for the skip

Arrived to find only two towel sets and bedding for three adults. Contact was through call Centre to pass messages on. Was told we should have advised them that we would not be sharing a double bed. No mention of this in booking details. We were emailed to say spare bedding and towel would not arrive until following day. This never happened. Turned up two days late.
TV needed proper instructions and new batteries on remotes to operate. Smoke sensor batteries run down and beeping all night long.
I think more attention to these details is must.

My husband and I booked a week away in Devon with our 9-month old Cavapoo. Having never taken the dog away before we were both a little anxious but we needn't have worried.
Lily Cottage is perfectly located, with just short walk down to Dartmouth centre where there are so many restaurants and cafes to choose from (all of which allow dogs). It was a beautiful, cosy space to stay and I would highly recommend to others. The addition of the parking permit was hugely appreciated and meant we didn’t have to worry about where to park the car after returning from days out.

Nice, little quaint cottage tucked away. Customer service Outstanding. We wanted a log burner so that’s why we chose this cottage, but when we arrived the burner is actually in the dining room so this spoilt it for us as we wanted it in the lounge, but we still enjoyed our stay at the cottage.

Week in July
Good location but car park was busy so if you went out you couldn’t always get a space on return which was frustrating.
Lovely garden and comfortable cottage with good facilities but cleanliness was average with high level cobwebs and grime. Towel rail had had fuse removed and shower itself did not drain well otherwise everything was ok

Lovely little cottage
We had a lovely week at Lilly cottage. It is comfortable and only a few minutes walk into the town so the location is ideal.
Just a few negatives that could easily be rectified. The fridge/freezer is so small that you have to do a daily shop (even when there are just the 2 of you) and we were unable to chill any drinks because of this. We were told there would be a welcome pack on arrival but unfortunately nothing was left for us. After driving for 7.5 hours a pint of milk in the fridge would have been a welcome find for sure.
The garden requires some maintenance including replacing some rotten decking boards and the rattan garden table is also rotten/breaking up.

Disappointed
Fantastic location and in a very quiet little street. Parking permit for park and ride and mayors car park a god send.
Unfortunately the property wasn’t clean, dusty floors, wrappers left from previous guests, dust everywhere. The bedding and towels felt damp. The fridge is very small for a week can hardly fit anything in and no washing machine to wash beach towels etc.
Please be mindful when booking the landing is very small between bedrooms and a very steep drop outside of second bedroom if you loose your footing.

Nice cottage with a few issues.
The cottage itself is in a lovely location. The parking however was a nightmare. All car parks were so busy and it was almost impossible to find a parking space.
The cottage is pet friendly which is great but as a consequence there were dog hairs throughout the ground floor when we arrived.
The other issue was the garden. It was poorly maintained with the decking showing it’s age and the rest of the garden was overgrown with weeds.
It’s a shame because this cottage could be really nice but it needs to be cleaned more thoroughly and maintained better.

Superb location
Location excellent, and parking permit welcomed. Garden and furniture we're used most days. Only complaint is the sofa was very uncomfortable and needs replacing.

Lily Cottage
Lily Cottage is really charming with quirky nautical decoration. The welcome pack was much appreciated and the garden area was great. The big dining space was excellent, as were the sash windows and shutters to see the views from the windows. The woodburner looked appealing, although we never used it as we visited in May. Would benefit from installation of a power shower and bigger fridge/freezer space suitable for storing more food/drink. There was a bbq on the description of the property facilities, but we didn't see it, so bought disposable ones.
Loved our stay in Dartmouth, it's a great location, and Lily Cottage, although maybe not everyone's cup of tea, is right up the street of those who want to stop in a place of charm and character.

Relaxing stay
Cosy cottage with some nice touches and interesting features. Good base for exploring. Short level walk to centre of Dartmouth, parking permit was a bonus. Under floor heating in lounge, WiFi and Alexa. Owners have spent time in collecting some interesting pieces on a nautical theme. Ideal size for a couple, access to outside space. Has potential with some minor works and TLC needed to bring it back to a good standard. Shower was poor.

A lovely Cottage
A lovely cottage in a good location, cosy, with lots of space.
A nice touch would be to supply wood for the log burner, and maybe some dishwasher tablets. Otherwise a great place to stay and relax and use as a base to travel around the beautiful area of Devon.

good and bad
The cottage is nicely decorated and an easy walk to town. However it is in need of some TLC, the garden was in a poor state, there were weeds around the front and brambles coming over the dining room roof which scratched in the wind. We did have an issue that was resolved by the management company, which was solely due to bad housekeeping. Finding a parking space was OK but probably difficult during the summer. Wouldn't use this cottage again.

Super week in cosy Lily Cottage
We felt very comfortable and at home in Lily Cottage. It’s very well and stylishly equipped, comfy and well situated to walk into town. But we found it difficult to park in the town car park and we spent a long time each day waiting with the car to find a space. Not being able to park near the cottage made it difficult for us. My only other negative was that the cottage smelled of dog on first arrival. It’s a great cottage and we would have loved to have stayed again were it not for the lack of parking.

Great little cottage in the heart of Dartmouth
Really lovely cosy cottage - perfect for exploring the area. Fab condition with everything you need for a great break away.
All the staff at Dart Valley were very friendly.

Lily cottage has the potential to be a beautiful little holiday home but lacking in finishing touches . For example no toilet roll holder, no bathroom cabinet so only place for toiletries is on the floor. No soap dish in shower , again .. only place for soap is on floor. Bottle shelf broken in fridge so milk falls out when you open the door. Garden could be a real haven but is a mess, overgrown and unkempt despite months of lockdown it could have been a stunning feature. Ideal location, very pretty little cottage but currently lacking finesse for the amount it costs.

Great location and a beautiful garden
We had a lovely stay at Lily Cottage, it's super close to all the pubs & restaurants - we recommend the Seahorse and bar 1620. Bed was super comfortable and we had plenty of space to work, the garden was especially lovely to work in. The one thing we would say is the welcome book isn't overly welcoming! There are a lot of rules which come across as a bit harsh when you're supposed to be on holiday, I would suggest to soften it a little bit. Otherwise a great stay.

Christmas Break. We had a lovely stay at cosy Lily Cottage - it was perfect for Xmas.
Lily Cottage is a cosy cottage perfect for a winter break. The underfloor heating downstairs was a delight and even if you weren't warm enough there was the wood burner. The only downside was no parking but that goes with most properties in Dartmouth but the plus was the owners provide a parking permit which is a real bonus.
I cooked a lovely Christmas lunch at Lily Cottage but the lighting in the kitchen is extremely poor so it would be a great idea to upgrade the overhead lighting.
A lovely stay.

Lily Cottage
Lily cottage is a quaint fisherman’s cottage tucked away in a quiet spot near the town. It’s quite small as you would expect.
The problems were the very poor lighting in the kitchen , there are no windows in the kitchen. Also the stairs are steep and no hand rail so a bit of a problem if you need the toilet in the night. We had a very comfortable stay there it’s nice and warm .

Nice location, if only the property lived up to the photos.
The photos of this property make it seem light and airy with a lovely garden, however it is quite dark with the only really light room being the dining room. The garden is in need of some TLC which meant it was less appealling to use. We did however enjoy staying in Dartmouth and the easy access to the town and river was excellent.

Lovely cottage so close to town
Easy to find, traditional cottage, but decorated in a modern style and only a 4-5 minute flat walk into the town centre. Great little garden to relax in, very well equipped kitchen and great modern shower room.
The car park was in the town but we never had a problem getting a space and we used the free permit in other towns which was really useful
Not to be negative but there’s no washing machine, but I guess not everyone wants to do their washing on holiday.
We would definitely return.

First visit to Dartmouth.
Lily Cottage is a lovely cottage in a very convenient location near the town centre .Easy access to shops restaurants etc of which Dartmouth has many.
The cottage is very nicely presented by the owners with effort put in to give a relaxing characterful feel. The dining room is especially nice as is the master bedroom and the provision of a parking permit useful.
BUT.... one thing that let the cottage down was the cleanliness. The skylights, the suspended lights, the window above the back door and above the log burner in the Dining Room were thick with cobwebs which we had to climb on chairs to reach and hoover down before we could contemplate using the Dining Table. The quantity and concentration would suggest that these had been building up over a period of time. This, plus dust was also evident down the side of the bed in the small bedroom and under the master bed.
We live in a period property ourselves so understand that they are susceptible to this and the odd 8 legged visitor but when paying good hard earned money for a holiday let we would expect at least it to be clean on arrival. I am sure this is no reflection on the owners but would suggest that the management company take a good look at the quality of cleaning that takes place in the property which I assume is supplied by a contract company.
I am sorry to have to write this but the cottage is really a lovely place and should be maintained accordingly.
