The layout was just what we needed and the location was very convenient to the activities we wanted to do.

The house was ideal for the family. I didn’t care to much for parking at the house.

We definitely will come back. This is a great family home.
Just a heads up, this property doesn't come with somethings most rentals do so you may want to pack them when you come (TP is only in some bathrooms, zero kitchen extras like foil, ziplock bags, dishwasher soap, etc.).

Great location between Boone and Sugar Mountain! We enjoyed the cabin and had more than enough space to spread out. Just about every cooking utensil, pot and pan you can imagine. Beds were comfortable. Enjoyed going back in time to put up a high score on Galaga downstairs in the game room. We immediately felt at home. Nice weekend

House was not worth the amount of money. Rug in living room was dirty and felt dirty, master bedroom mattress was very uncomfortable and flat pillows. Basement smelled of mildew and it was hard to breathe down there. Living room TV didn’t have Netflix and the cable was not good. Kids room upstairs didn’t have a TV. Lights to the kitchen were in the hallway which was weird. No extra blankets that were soft or anything. No light above stove. Very very poor lighting in the master bedroom. Back porch deck was dirty, leaves everywhere abs no leaf blower. Couldn’t find a broom to at least sweep it off to enjoy. Wine glass still had a lipstick print on one and some of the drinking glasses were dirty. Just did not feel like a clean place. Master bedroom bedspread was dirty also with stains on it.

Property was just as described. Only issue we had was checkin. We were contacted about 40 minutes before checkin to say we couldn’t checkin until an hour after scheduled time because the cleaning service was running behind. We contacted them notifying them of inconvenience because we had a weeks worth of groceries that had already been in the car for hours along with our small children. We already traveled for 5 hours. Once we got to the property at 4pm which was the regular scheduled time. Nobody was at the property. We waited outside as instructed for the property to be cleaned. After 40 minutes nobody arrived. I went and looked inside and the property appeared clean. I contacted the manager and they said we could enter to our groceries in the fridge but the fridge wouldn’t be cleaned. Once inside we noticed the cleaning service had already been because the appliances were on cleaning cycles and the towels were placed on beds and on the kitchen counter with a card confirming cleaning. I contacted the manager and they gave us a $50 credit for the inconvenience and did not charge us for extra trash bags left at the property since we didn’t take them to the landfill due to the storm. I was highly satisfied at their customer service and will rent from them again.

Grandfather Vista is a wonderful place. My family was there over Christmas and had a great time. We had 6 inches of snow Christmas Eve and had a wonderful white Christmas. The house has a warm homey atmosphere. I highly recommend this location and hope to return in the future. EMS, Columbia, SC

Basement and master closet were very musty, kitchen patio furniture needs scrubbing. We enjoyed the cabin and all the amenities. House other than patio furniture was clean and private.

We enjoyed our stay and liked the cabin. The neighborhood was quiet and we enjoyed having breakfast on the porch every morning while watching the fog move and reveal the Grandfather profile. Great proximity to Boone and to Grandfather/Linville. Overall, the cabin was clean, although the dishwasher was full of (clean) dishes and there were candy wrappers on the front porch, which hadn't been swept. I will echo some other reviews that the downstairs game room smells like mildew. We didn't plan to use that area, so it wasn't a big deal, but I wouldn't ask anyone to sleep down there. Beds were comfortable and the a/c was a blessing since it was still in the 80s during the day. Also, the fire pit area was nice to have at the end of a day of hiking!

Beautiful cabin, conveniently located
The Grandfather Vista cabin is conveniently located less than a mile off of NC HWY 105, in Foscoe, NC. The Blue Ridge Parkway, Valle Crucis, Boone, and the outskirts of Banner Elk are all within a 15 minute drive.
The cabin itself was spacious and inviting, and we availed ourselves of most of the amenities, including the fire pit and the downstairs game room. As its name indicates, the cabin has an impressive profile view of Grandfather Mountain, and we enjoyed sipping coffee on the front porch. Unfortunately, nature is reclaiming that view, due to trees and shrubbery, making it a bit less breathtaking than expected (especially when seated on the porch).
One complaint was that the back deck (where the grill is located) could benefit from a pressure-washing, as could the deck furniture. We ate a couple of meals out there, but wished it had been in better condition. Also, in the game room, most of the darts are unusable, and the air hockey table has seen its better days. Finally, the dishwasher was temperamental, and it took a good part of our last hour there trying to get it to start (which I finally did). This probably explains why there were still what appeared to be dirty dishes in it when we arrived.
All in all, Grandfather Vista provides a very quiet and cozy place to spend your mountain time, which is one of the best uses of time that I can think of.

Family favorite
The cabin was spacious enough for the family to spend time together without feeling like being on top of each other. My kids asked if we could buy it and move in for good. All in all, a great place to enjoy the mountains.

Grandfather vista
Enjoyed our stay at grandfather vista! The location was great and the kids LOVED the game room. The view of grandfather mountain was awesome, I just would have liked to see the bushes and trees cut back a little to be able to have more of a Mountain View. Definitely recommend and hope to be back soon!

Grandfather Vista
Itt's time to update pictures There's a new livingroom suite. No tv in the upstairs bedroom or downstairs bedroom. The downstairs smelled of garbage due to the trash cans in the garage. ( I get you have to do that because of animals). But most of all the dishwasher did NOT work. In this time of Covid-19 I washed all the dishes before I used them. Dirty dishes were left in the dishwasher also when we arrived. Very disappointed!

Great Mountain Retreat
We truly enjoyed this cabin and are already looking at dates to return! The house is well decorated and maintained with just enough of a rustic feel amidst luxury to make it a perfect retreat!! It is in a great location - we will certainly be back!!

Pros:
Excellent location and incredible view of Grandfather Mountain from the front porch. Close to Boone, Blowing Rock, Valle Crucis, and Grandfather Mountain. First floor and 2nd floor were very clean with lots of sleeping space. The beds were comfortable and my kids loved the upstairs loft for playing games. The den couches were really comfortable. Cabin was nicely decorated. Plenty of seating on the front porch to enjoy the mountain views. The firepit was nice and the benches around it were brand new. The prepaid firewood was nice to have. Very quite location. All appliances looked new. Nice Keurig.
Cons:
We rented the cabin for the basement game room for my kids. They wanted nothing to do with the room. The basement had a dank, wet smell and it set all of our allergies off. We couldn't stand to go down there. Also, the upstairs half bath had a latch on the outside of the door. When you pulled the door shut, you would lock yourself in the bathroom. I couldn't quite figure out why the latch was there. We also arrived to find that the dishwasher had not been run or emptied by the previous renters. The tab was in there but never started. So all the spoons and coffee mugs were in the dishwasher needing to be washed when we arrived. The cleaning service should have caught that also. Also, there was an empty water bottle on the front porch with brown water full of cigarette butts in it that the cleaning service should have disposed of. For these reasons, I had to give it 4 stars.
My kids are already asking to go back, so I don't think the cons would keep us from renting again. The basement just needs a dehumidifier, and that should solve the wet smell.

Accommodated 8 of us perfectly and location was great! The game room was a huge hit with the kids. The view of Grandfather Mountain from the huge windows was a nice surprise.

The living room furniture was quite dated and uncomfortably. Everything else was very good, but the electrical cords and power strips could over load the circuits. Our stay was very enjoyable and the weather was quite good.

Loved the cabin!
We loved this cabin! It was so cozy, clean and had plenty of space. The location is perfectly situated between Boone and Blowing Rock for easy shopping or dining. The company was very easy to work with and checking in and out was a breeze. We will definitely be back.

For price and location I give it 5 stars. My only suggestion is to maybe simply or minimize the kitchen cabinets. The overflowing amount of pots, pans, plates, bowls etc made it just seem overwhelming and cluttered. The beds were comfortable, game room was a huge hit with the kids and us parents alike. Been years since I played those games! Overall we enjoyed ourselves tremendously and look forward to renting this cabin again in the near future.

First trip to the Mountains of NC
We enjoyed our visit to Banner Elk! The house has a beautiful view of Grandfather Mountain. It had all we needed and was situated in a quiet neighborhood. From the kitchen, to the bedrooms and baths— everything was great. The boys enjoyed the dart board and we took morning walks each day! We were in town for a college field hockey game and it was easy to get back and forth to Appalachian State (we were the visiting team)
Coffee on the porch each morning was the best !

Review
We enjoyed our stay however the photos on the website were not true representations of the view, which was very minimal and there was virtually no yard. The washing machine did not work properly and the stove burners and dishwasher were challenging to operate. The house was dark and somewhat musty as well.

We paid a large cleaning
We paid a large cleaning fee for two nights. ($244). The cabin was not exceptionally clean especially the outdoor area, windows, window sills, carpet , etc. parking was and number of guests is very limited for the space sonit is not a gray vablue. Couches were very comfy and overall the cabin was comfortable.
