The breakfast was lovely and the room was immaculate. We emailed the hotel prior to our stay to ask if we could park the car late morning on the day of our arrival and we received a prompt reply confirming that we could do this.
It was our first visit to the Lake District and it won’t be our last. The accommodation was perfectly situated and only a short distance from Ambleside. We will definitely return and would certainly recommend this accommodation.

location very good. breakfast OK, meals pricey for a pub
I have stayed before when it was a hotel, so I was disappointed with this stay, no lounge just the pub to sit in not my style. Obviously I am the wrong generation!!

Great location, free parking, clean rooms
Very small bathroom and the shower door only half opens so have to be small to fit in lol

Beautiful room, the bed was so comfortable which is always a big bonus.
There is honestly nothing I can complain about.

Good location next to Windermere. Ambleside is lovely. Breakfast was decent.
Asked for rooms close together: this did not occur. Checked the booking before we went, and the inn confirmed the sofa bed for my daughter. This was not made up. We had to ask for sheets, and were given them to make up the bed ourselves: not what we expected from a quality inn. Dinner in the restaurant: a long wait because it was busy (not within the hotel's control); however when my meal arrived, it was not as described. When I returned it, I was given a refund but then not offered a replacement meal as the kitchen closed at 9 o'clock.

The location was great. Bed was comfy. Tea and coffee was acceptable, balcony at the front and we could see the Lake.
There was no notices anywhere to state where to check in. We went to the "rooms", no reception. We ended up over the road in the pub to be told that we needed to check in there, and that no-one knew where to check in and that it was an "issue" and they had reported it to head office and they were "dealing with it". Ridiculous. Surely someone could put a notice up!

Location was convenient but having enjoyed much better accommodation last year at what was then the Regent hotel this was disappointing.
The room was very small only just fitting the standard (not large as quoted in the booking) double bed. The washbasin in the ensuite was exceptionally small and not much use. Overpriced at £222 per night.

The food was delicious especially the breakfast
Weather but then you always have rain in the lake district 😁😁

The rooms are an annexe to the main hotel but just across the main road so any late night noise (there wasn't much) from the bar did not carry over to your room. The room was very comfortable with large TV and two easy sitting chairs. The bed was large double and very comfortable. The on suite bathroom was quite large and bright (well lit as no natural light) with a nice "waterfall" type shower. (see below). We were able to leave the car on site and use the bus or the lakeside ferry to get around locally.
Really enjoyed the waterfall type shower, but the floor had no slope and consequently the bathroom got quite wet as the water was unable to totally drain away. (We have pointed this out to the staff).

Lovely staff and perfect location
Busy for dinner on Saturday evening so had to queue for drinks and food .

The staff were accommodating and friendly, laid back and went out of their way to help us. We were travelling for a wedding which meant we weren't able to check in at the check in times but they let us collect our key early and let us park at their sister inn nearer to the wedding venue. The bedroom was comfortable, clean and well appointed. Breakfast was delicious and the surroundings were stunning.
Nothing.

The staff were super lovely and friendly at check in. The hotel has just been renovated and we were clearly the first to stay in our room so it was exceptionally clean and fresh. Bed was comfortable and the shower was a delight. The hotel is in a lovely location by the pier, easily walkable distance to Ambleside. The bar/restaurant area is very pleasantly decorated, with wonderful views of the garden and lake. Breakfast was what you'd expect - although less options for those of us who don't enjoy a fry up, I was still very happy with my hash browns. We had dinner on one night, it was simple but decent food. Added bonus, they do a discount on food and drink for those with a Blue Light Card.
As I mentioned, the rooms had just been completed as as such there was little piles of sawdust here and there and the toilet roll holder was not properly affixed to the wall. The TV was also not yet set up with internet, but I expect these are all just teething problems. I also didn't realise the hotel was multiple buildings so we were across the road from the bar/hotel bit. Our room was on ground floor level facing the road, which is unfortunately very busy and noisy during the day. The room is also very warm, so on the first night we slept with the one window that could be opened open and were woken as soon as the traffic started in the morning, so would recommend you bring ear plugs and a fan!

The rooms in which we stayed were modern in comparison to the rest of the hotel. The helpful receptionist informed us the hotel is closing the day after our stay for refurbishment. The English breakfast was nice. The location is great.
The room was not cleaned as we found lip balm of a previous guest under the beside table. The restaurant for dinner, the food quality was poor. The bread was white Warburtons slices (not fresh). The Pie was extremely dry. I was told the fish and chips were nice by another member of my party.
However, was drove me to give the review was the expectation of a tip by the restaurant waiting staff. Informing of if you want to tip and how to add was extremely unprofessional and I could see it done to other guests, this behaviour pushes people
to tip at the moment of paying. Normally I would give a cash tip. The hotel feels like a large low standard B&B.

very nice large room, bathroom and large bed. This was a room in the courtyard at the back of the hotel and was ideal for us with our dog. Good location, across the road from the lake.
we had to eat in the bar with the dog which is fair enough normally. The problem was our table was by the door, people were going in and out and the temperature at the time was sub-zero. We asked to move into the restaurant where there were NO guests whatsoever but were refused. There was a discreet little lounge area where we could have gone but we were not shown this until the last morning. Also, the food for the evening meal was very poor quality and overpriced, although the breakfast was very good
