Friendly, great atmosphere, lovely room

Great location for a town centre break. Lovely friendly atmosphere in the bar from all the staff. Ate our evening meal and breakfast in the bar and we were very happy with the choices. Room was well equipped with everything we would need, including a fan and extra pillows. One of the friendliest places I've stayed at and would happily stay here again

Nice friendly cosy hotel in a great central location.

Location is perfect which is why we keep coming back. The rooms are clean and nice looking. Good menu. Great cooked breakfast.

The towels were changed but that was it. No replenishment of tea, coffee, milk or biscuits. The cups weren't washed up. It's a busy and popular pub. It was Easter so it was always going to be busy. They could really do with extra staff as the wait to get served was terrible and the tables needed cleaning etc. It's a shame as everything else is great and the staff are too. There just isn't enough of them!

A lovely hotel, great pub downstairs and friendly staff.

Fabulous location in the centre of Ambleside. Very clean room, bathroom and comfortable bed. Staff were very friendly and welcoming.

Fantastic stay in Ambleside.

The staff were friendly and polite and the room was well equipped with everything we needed to make for a pleasant stay. The location was superb for transport, shops and restaurants. We were well impressed with everything including the food.

I paid for two people but I was one person. Booking and the property were terrible.

They took my money for a double room and breakfast for two people, but I was just one person. They told me to write to Booking to resolve my situation, Booking wrote me to speak directly with the property. The result is that I paid for a service they didn't offer. Very dishonest! Both of them, Booking and the property.

Looks great from the outside. bar area is nice and chilled

my room was a bit chilly coming from the old windows. TV wasn’t working so had to retune it a few times

Hopeing to return to the same attentiveness as the first visit - Unfortunately came away disappointed.

location in the heart of Ambleside is perfect as a base while in the Lake District.

2nd stay here @the Ambleside inn - 1 year apart. very disappointed with the stay this week. it’s such a lovely pub in a great location but sadly let down by some aspects that now seem a feature. Check in was long and quite unfriendly - the bar food menu choices are limited and in honesty quite bland, especially given the produce on the doorstep! Some of the staff require some training when dealing with paying customers that expect a warm welcome and general politeness.

Breakfast, terrible coffee , overcooked bacon, breakfast only lukewarm .only 1 sliced of toast per person .It did say on the booking website sel service buffet but this was not the case

We were there to celebrate our grandson’s 3rd birthday and it was the lights switch on weekend and very busy but nothing

Beautiful building & beautifully decorated for Christmas and in the perfect location

Our room was slightly small and had a pointless round writing table right next to the dressing table taking up valuable space but everything else was perfect

Some Like it Hot?

The staff were fantastic, the hotel was spotless in a great location as well and an excellent breakfast. Dined in one evening and food was restaurant standard.

There was a big fan in the room and for good reason. It was unbearably hot even with the window open and fan on. Couldn't work out why as the radiator was off and there was no underfloor heating.

Could have done with some drawers in the bedroom, only shelves. Also needed a shelf in the bathroom for toiletries.

Friends Night Away

The location is brilliant and so central. Rooms were clean and comfy! Staff were very helpful! 😁

Nothing! We were a party of three females away for a birthday celebration night away! The family room was great and just what we needed for somewhere to sleep and change. All good.

Big revamp has vastly improved bar/restaurant area Rooms and communal areas smartened up to a slightly lesser degree

Cold restaurant caused by door being open and staff refusing to close it. Cold evening would have benefitted from the wood burning stove being turned on in bar area. Staff stacking up chairs whilst we were eating. Customers having sweets put on table ehilst still eating main courses.
