Ligging, fijne sfeer in het hotel. Goede douche. Goed ontbijt. Vriendelijk personeel.
Kamer was klein. Badkamerdeur erg onhandig. Bed wat muf.

I had Room 8, a standard double at the back of the hotel but with a lovely view of the pretty pastel painted townhouses of Clifton and a delightfully large bathroom with rolltop bath and separate huge shower. Nice little touches with 100 Acres products and waffle dressing gowns and slippers. The decor of the whole place was lovely, my kind of boutique B&B and the breakfast of scrambled egg and smoked salmon with chives and lemon, exceptional. I'll definitely return....
Although I managed to park opposite 'on street parking' and at no charge as out of permit restrictions, if you don't get parked there, it could be tricky? Once parked, the road was so busy, I had to wait for a clearing of cars to be able to open my drivers door and vacate the car, so to be mindful of that.

Fabulous room with gorgeous view of Bristol, really lovely area and close to where we wanted to be. The room was so comfortable and little touches that really made a difference to our stay. Loved it, second time I've stayed and would love to go back again.

I loved the time I spent in Number 38 Clifton. The staff were kind and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The hotel is very stylish and the room had beautiful views over the city and the Durdham Downs. Breakfast was delicious too. I cannot rate the hotel highly enough.

Love the breakfast and the style of the room.
Breakfast starting at 7 instead of 7.30 to give me time to get to work but also enjoy a leisurely breakfast

room was very warm.
6.0 / 10.0
- Upon entry, the room was cosy and warm and I was able to adjust the temperature quite easily with the working radiator valve (radiator valves tend to be too stiff to move, difficult to read, or broken in my experience)
- The bed was really comfortable. I think the mattress was medium, which was fine for me.
- Free use of toiletries, which were really good quality.
- The TV was well positioned in the corner
- Working Netflix, Amazon and other on-demand video services
- Excellent cooked breakfast
- Wonderful staff. I was allowed to stay for a few hours to work in the lounge, and they provided me with free coffee!
- Two free cookies next to the free teas/coffees is a nice gesture!
Problem #1- Noise from people walking above me. The building is very old and the soundproofing was very poor above me (I was in the basement, room #9). Fortunately, this wasn't a massive problem because I had earplugs and had work to do on my laptop in the evening so the loud thumping of people walking above me didn't bother me too much. However, if I had gone to bed earlier at around 10pm I would have struggled to fall asleep. The creaks and thumping of people walking was pretty loud. I wonder if soundproofing of the room can be improved?
Problem #2: The handle of the bathroom window was broken, so I couldn't close it properly. Unfortunately, because I couldn't close the window, I was awoken by seagulls at 5am!
Problem #3: There are no black out curtains/curtains/screens over the bedroom windows. Unfortunately, I was woken up (again) by morning light at around 6am! Although there are French shutters over the windows, the sunlight is still able to come through because the gaps between the panels are quite wide. I suggest putting in a black out curtain or pull down screen to stop the light.
Problem #4: There was no visible or explicit label telling me that the small bottle of wine and two packets of crisps (stored next to the free teas/coffees/cookies) were NOT free. Upon entry, it appears that the wine and crisps might be free because they're stored next to the teas and coffees etc. However, I had to go up to reception and ask to find out that they were 'not free'. I can imagine people coming into the room for the first time opening the wine and crisps thinking that they were free because they are stored amongst the teas/coffees etc.
Despite these issues, I enjoyed the room, but mainly because I thought £108 (including breakfast) was reasonable for the room.

Comfortable room with a great view across the city. Warm and powerful shower. Communal/breakfast area was tastefully presented. Breakfast was lovely.
A USB charging point would have been a plus but it's a minor point.

great communication with a late check in, great flexibility with breakfast and an early check out and a real quality feel to the place. Relaxing Classic FM playing on radio on arrival - lovely touch.

The room was lovey, beautifully decorated and well lit with a lovely view. The breakfast was amazing as always.
Unfortunately the mattress was uncomfortable. We have stayed here before so was a bit disappointed as the bed was lovely in the other room we stayed in.

A fantastic place to stay. Very elegantly and tastefully decorated with friendly staff. The room was the real showstopper: huge, very elegant, with many little touches and everything felt special. The room was quiet and the view in the morning spectacular.
No major complaints. I would have liked some cereal/porridge option along with the cooked breakfast, but the breakfast itself was so delicious that it's barely worth mentioning.

Great stay in suite 11. The room was spacious and nice decor. Would definitely return.
Nothing to really dislike, nit picking - the shower had quite low pressure and we had to do a few laps of the road outside to find a space.
