Nice pool with view, we always had the pool to ourselves. Our villa had an even better view and terrace to eat breakfast or watch the sun set with a beer. Good location, could walk to other warungs/guesthouses for dinner
The villa we stayed in is quite worn/tired, but I think there are newer rooms/villas so we can only speak for ours. Simple upgrades would make such a difference, like clean/new shower heads that don’t spray in all directions, a new toilet seat, new couch cushions, and unblocking the drains/sinks. The breakfast was very small and we never saw anyone eating in the restaurant so it didn’t seem like a popular option. I thought overall it wasn’t great value for the condition.

Everything about Kubu Tani was incredible. Amazing views across the rice terraces to mt Agung. Incredible friendly staff, delicious food and walking distance to some of the best places to eat and drink in the area. There was nothing we didn’t love about staying here!

Amazing view, beautiful balcony, great location in the green but with some infrastructure like restaurants around.

The massages are great, the views are amazing. Highly recommended

Magnificent view of jungle, rice paddies and Mt Agung. Staff fantastic as was the atmosphere. Great value for money.
Maybe hand towels, shampoo and soap could be provided.

The staff were truly wonderful. So pleasant and helpful with anything that we needed!
We didn’t realize that it was an open air concept so we were often encountering all kinds of critters. The rooms are a little outdated but still comfortable! Overall, a lovely stay!

This is surely the best view in Sidemen! Waking up and seeing such a view feels like you are in paradise. Huge villa with two terraces, you can order breakfast to your terrace which is very nice and convenient. Breakfasts were simple but tasty. The staff was very nice and helpful. We recommend taking a massage, we took it 2 times as it was a perfection!
The villas have a huuuuge potential, but almost everything inside seems old, dirty and not well maintained. Almost all cupboards are full of old, dirty things that shouldn't be there. There is also one cupboard with half empty alcohol bottles left by previous guests (those may have been there for years already). The mosquito net was dirty, sofas inside the house as well. And all this is not the worst - the worst are termites, everywhere, all over. We got the villa cleaned and 30 minutes after it was already full of termites dirt. If the villa was clean, I would rank it 10 as the view is out of this world. But it NEEDS to be cleaned neatly and thoroughly.

this place is heaven on earth and has the best views in the sidemen valley. not to mention that Neoman was an incredibly special host who made us feel so welcome and told us all about the Balinese way of life. we originally planned to stay 3 nights and extended to 7 and I wish we had done more!
it was so perfect. quiet, peaceful, gorgeous sunrises.

Kubu Tani is by far the best place you can stay at in Sidemen. Firstly, you're paying pennies for a million dollar view! Forget those 4 and 5-star resorts, this place has the best view in the area! Beautiful rice terraces where you see local farmers working every morning, jungles and a view of Mount Agung all from your balcony. Plenty of food options in the area which you can walk to. And very friendly staff - including the very friendly dog who comes out to play with the guests!

Lovely and spacious villa. Super friendly staff, nice pool, scenic location, close to restaurants and other facilities.

The accommodation has exceeded our expectations!
A beautiful, quiet facility in nature with a direct view of the volcano.
Large rooms with balcony - the roof is not completely closed, which is why you feel a bit further in nature. A mosquito net around the bed ensures quiet nights. We have barely seen mosquitoes and only heard the frogs at night - exceptional! The pool is also nice to relax and restaurants are in the immediate vicinity. Scooter rental possible!
Mosquito net should be cleaned from time to time

very lovely staff! the accommodation has an amazing view especially in the morning. the place is really quite and the price/accommodation ratio is unbelievable.

Love the view from our Villa! We had a relaxing stay and our Villa is really spacious and pretty too! Hotel staffs are very friendly and helpful as well. Overall very value for money.
Toiletries (eg, toothbrush, showercap, hair dryer... are not found in the toilet). It might be some where in the villa but we did not reach out to the reception to check as it was already late. Shampoo and shower gel are not labelled as well so we had to do some guesswork when showering.

Spacious villas and amazing views from villas, restaurant, and pool area.

Absolutely stunning views of Sidemen, updated villa with a very comfortable bed, beautiful deck to spend time on and enjoy the views, really great breakfast in the mornings that are brought to your room by request, perfect location next to a bunch of warungs, a little hidden from the main road for privacy, and massages offered on site.
There was no hot water, the security on the villa was little to none which made me nervous as a female solo traveler & the owner made me feel a bit uncomfortable when he repeatedly called me one night while I was at dinner. Wouldn't recommend for a female solo traveler specifically for the last reason.

This place is incredible. The kindest, most helpful and accommodating staff in the whole of Bali work here, always with recommendations and sorting whatever you want/need during your stay whether that’s booking a trip, renting bikes or borrowing sarongs to visit the temples. What makes Kubu Tani even more special is the breathtaking panoramic views of Sidemen’s beauty, from the rooms, restaurant and pool. I couldn’t recommend more!

I stayed in the villa, super comfortable bed and a proper duvet which was really nice. The climate is
cooler in Sideman, a nice break from the heat of the beach. Lovely views from the villa, both levels! The host is a lovely person who takes good care of the property and ensures guests have everything they need. Breakfast was nice. Pool was clean and perfect temperature. Would stay again.
Not so much what I don’t like but just be aware there are lots of bugs, just don’t look too hard. I would think this is the same everywhere you stay as you are in the middle of nature and that is what is to love about Sideman.

A nice place to be. The room has a very big balcony which is a great place to sit down and relax for breakfast or in the evening for winding down overlooking Mount Agung.
The bathroom has a big bathtub with also a great view which is a perfect place to pampered yourself after a nice massage in the room.
The staff is very friendly and helpful. Mr. Kari, the owner is also a very down to earth man with whom you can talk and share ideas.

The amazing view overlooking rice fields. the owners and the staff are the friendliest people we met. The pool is big and spacious. Bedroom is upstairs and bathroom is downstairs. Huge veranda to take in the amazing view. The owner shared with us his humbled beginning and the surroundings of Sidemen.
The two story is huge for two people, downstairs is rarely used therefore it is dusty and ants roaming everywhere. The main point is the upstairs veranda and we used that everyday. Breakfast is cold and boring. The location is golden but unnecessary spaces in the property is missing some touches. This could improved.

The staff are very lovely. We loved the location and it is great value for money. The villa is huge and we had the option of sitting upstairs or downstairs, both with amazing views.

The view was second to none. It blew us away. Breakfast was fresh and tasty. The room was big and clean with a nice balcony to take in the view.
If I had to pick something, it was a little noisy at night only because the room isn’t fully sealed off from outside but that was also part of its charm as it made the experience unique.

our best stay in Bali
3.5
It has absolutely stunning views as the pictures show- This is 100% the best thing about Kubu Tani. The bed is comfortable and cozy and the [much needed] mosquito net around the bed makes it look even nicer. The pool area is really lovely, even nicer than photos shown and is kept clean with enough sun loungers to relax with beautiful views even with the cloudy weather we experienced during our stay. The bathroom has a his and hers sink area too which is nice and the bath has beautiful view outside too.
Staff are welcoming and friendly, greeted us with a welcome drink (not sure what it was- wasn’t to our liking, however a very nice welcome) and despite early checkin our room was ready. Their English is very very limited so had some communication issues but they’re kind people. There’s an option to get a massage therapist to come to the villa too which was lovely and very reasonably priced too.
However, the actual property itself is completely open plan which we didn’t realise, so when you’re in the room there is a huge gap across the top/ceiling where all bugs and even birds can get into the room, there is no space to prevent them from coming in. One day we came back from a day out and had bird poo all over the floor as a bird had obviously made its way in. The bathroom, as lovely as it looks, there is no hot water to the taps (not too much of an issue really) and the power of the shower itself was so weak, as a woman with not the thickest of hair I struggled to wash it before the hot water ran out (the boiler is very small). We had breakfast included however we were reluctant to try it after walking past the ‘kitchen’ - to us it just didn’t look clean at all so it put us off completely, however the smell of the food each evening did smell delightful.
Finally, I’d recommend this place for a short stay or a place where you wish to purely relax around the pool or on your balcony and enjoy the views. You’re very far out from absolutely everything, not much at all going on in the local town and taxis relatively more expensive to get to more ‘touristy areas’ eg. virgin beach (which is absolutely beautiful by the way). There are a few nice restaurants within walking distance and places to hire bikes/scooters if you feel comfortable riding one, there are lots of hills but it’s very quiet so a better place to hire one if you’re not as comfortable doing so (we personally didn’t)

amazing view, spacious apartment, tasty breakfast,
helpful staff
- owner preaching us about faith in God - that was
awkward and felt uncomfortable
- we asked about booking the driver for 10am next day-
first they said it’s ok, later on the owner was trying
to move the driver for 7:30 am, saying that boats to
Nusa Penida are not operating later (which is not true)
we insisted on 10am and it stayed that way (boats
operate until 5pm or so). Hotel employees were
also surprised by his words and later told us in private
it’s good we didn’t agree

Villa with an amazing view, the pictures on booking capture it very well. The surrounding gardens and landscapes are beautiful. Our hosts were helpful and welcoming.
„Jungle noises“ (frogs, etc.), but it‘s okay
4.5
The location of the Kubu Tani villas is superb, with 300 degree panoramic views of jungle, rice fields and vegetable gardens in a broad valley, overlooked by Gunung Agung, home of mother temple Besakih. Breakfasts are delightfully Balinese, and satisfying, in a restaurant area overlooking yet another valley with It is in walking distance of several excellent restaurants; and the local temple where you may be lucky enough to participate in a ceremony of some kind. The staff are wonderfully helpful and generous with their time, and love a good laugh. Happiness reigns at Kubu Tani.
We weren't able to stay longer.

Location is beautiful and views are outstanding.
Several food eateries nearby.
WiFi was great.
Photos are not faithful to the current state of the premises.
The house needs upgrading.
The cushion covers were torn, ceiling lights did not even have a shade, just a hanging bulb. Sofas need upholstery.
The insect net surrounding the bed was torn.
Water heater is too small for 2 adults to take a shower (especially when I had to wash my hair) - 15 litres!
The room was dusty and the cleaner only made the beds and changed the towels. When asked about this we were told it’s because of the termites but the dust was an accumulation of the sand we brought along with us all the way from Sanur, which remained in the room for the duration of our stay.
The scooter we rented from the premises did not have a functioning light. When asked to have this changed, first we were told that no other motorbikes are available, then we were told that we could get one for 125k instead of 75k a day. We made our own research and managed to find someone in the area who rented one for us at 75k.
Limited breakfast options.
The only place where water was not provided in the room on a daily basis, unlike all other accommodation in Bali.
Not worth the money spent! Please avoid.
