Kanda is very nice little home stay centrally located in Sideman. It is clean and comfortable and set in a small well kept Balinese garden. It has a lovely Balinese type family atmosphere and you will be well looked after by Jack and his sister in law who brings you a lovely freshly cooked breakfast, coffee and fresh fruit every morning. The property is close to all shops and restaurants. Jack has a reputation for guiding excellent tours of Sidemen and its surrounding areas and it is well worth while taking one of these as it a true guide to the Balinese lifestyle as opposed to just a sights and scenes of Sidemen although you still get those as well
There was nothing we didn’t like this was a lovely peaceful and relaxing interlude to our holiday in Bali

From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with genuine smiles and a warm welcome that instantly made us feel like part of the family. Everything is impeccably clean and well-maintained, the rooms are spacious, comfy, tastefully decorated and the 'outdoor' bathroom is awesome. The garden is lush and the outdoor patio (with a sofa, table/chairs + fresh water dispenser) is the perfect place to chill.
What truly set this place apart was Jack (the owner) and his family's genuine friendliness and the positive energy that permeated the homestay. What a wonderful experience in a stunning part of Bali.

The family were so welcoming and even let us change dates.

Very nice homestay, very well maintained. Owner and his wife are lovely people.
If you don't like/have problems with chicken cuckoo sounds and other insects in the middle of the night, best not stay here, as there's a opening in the room roof at the entrance that carries all the surrounding sounds inside.

The family is most welcoming and friendly. Breakfast is served to your terrace. Water tanks to refill your bottle. Very clean and nice decor. Lovely, lush garden and a lot of kittens running around. Location is very good, restaurants and rice terraces in walking distance, and the family rents scooters too.

Kanda Homestay is the best homestay that we have been in during our 1,5 months holidays in Indonesia. The apartment is spacious and super clean. The bed is big and comfortable. The interior design is just lovely. The wifi works impeccably and the breakfast was super tasty. Also you have a spacious porch to chill!
I honestly couldn’t ask for more.
Also we fell in love with the owner Jack and his family. So kind and welcoming people with big hearts and a lot of animals.
We will definitely come back and I can truly recommend this place.

Location was tucked away in a little cozy corner of the neighbourhood. The room was clean, spacious and comfortable. The many casual sounds of nature of dogs, geckos, chickens and cats and morning temple is something you won't get in the city. The host and his family were extremely friendly and helpful! I loved that there was an endless supply of drinking water readily available in the room. They even provided an umbrella which was very thoughtful when we wandered around the neighbourhoods ourselves and it rained. The insect net kept unwanted bugs out at night. The toilet had an open concept but it surprisingly was cosy. Breakfast served was delicious and overall just a pleasant experience. It had all the necessary things you need. 😊😊😄
If you need complete privacy with soundproof walls, this may not be the place. Still wonderful place to stay 😁

Staying at Kanda Homestay really is an experience that I would not miss! Instead of a hotel you have a very authentic stay with the loveliest family. The room is pretty and thanks to the moskito net, I could sleep well.
Jack is very ambitious to make your stay special. He took me to a sunrise hike with view over the rice fields and to a waterfall. And we also visited his sister :) such a nice and personal tour!
If you want to experience something special and absolutely wonderful instead of a boring hotel, then that’s the place for you!
The Kanda was a bit hard to find for the driver. Maybe a bigger sign would be good :) but that’s not a big deal!

Had a great time at Kanda Homestay and Sidemen. Jack is a great host who can tell also a lot about Sidemen and Bali. Perfect room, good working wifi inside the room and everyday a nice breakfast included in the room price. Did a nice trip with Jack who showed me some beautiful places in and around Sidemen. But it is also very nice to rent a scooter and discover the area by yourself. This is still a not to touristic area with many beautiful views and attractions.

I had a great time at Kanda Honestay. It’s a nice, calm and lovely place in the nature of Sidemen.
I was warmly welcomed there by Jack and his family and felt very comfortable. Jack showed us the real Bali during that time. I learned a lot about the country and its people and am very grateful for this experience and lovely conversations.

Really enjoyed my stay at Kanda. Lovely friendly family in a beautiful area. The homestay reflects the area really well and has elements of nature everywhere, like the plants in the bathroom that get naturally watered by the rain. I also went on a tour of the area organised by the homestay including a sunrise over the rice fields, walks and talks around Sideman and an authentic Balinese lunch. Would definitely recommend!

nice staff, location and room - we really enjoyed staying there
there’s quite a lot of noice during the day and night from dogs and other animals

Jack has a beautiful homestay in a rather quiet area of Sidemen. Rather quiet means that there are still a lot of roosters and frogs and dogs and other noisy animals that will keep you up at night. However, you might get used to it, just like we did. The rooms are also very fancy and "close to nature" because the roofs have some open spaces. That, again, makes the noises louder at night, but Jack might change that into closed "normal" roofs. The idea of being close to the nature was and still is a nice one, though! Apart from that, the breakfast is delicious and Jack will help you with anything you need. A trekking tour, a cooking class, everything is possible with him.
The loud noises of different animals at night + loud ceremonies of a temple close by (starting around 5am).

They made us feel super welcome 🙏🏼
The tour was really good.
There is drinkable water to refill your bottle
Room is great, pretty, clean and comfy
You may listen wild live but this’s what you will find anywhere in Sidemen, as it’s the jungle 😉
nothing really

My girlfriend and I had such a special experience in Sidemen with Jack and his family. Over the past three years we’ve stayed in around 200 accommodations and this one belongs to my top 3 easily. This was the Balinese experience I wish every tourist had the chance to enjoy. Jack showed us around Sidemen personally and rest gave us an intimate view of Balinese life. He introduced us to his big family and shared so much of his life with us that now we feel like family. At night we would enjoy delicious local food - in vegan form - together with his family. After I finished my third plate, we’d always begin drinking Arak and Tuak. Then I’d go fall asleep happy as can be, listening to the sounds of small-town Bali. By the way, I am very sensitive to heat and never imagined I could sleep in Southeast Asia without the AC. At Jack’s you really can. It’s pretty amazing. So comfortable. So cool at night. Also, you’d think because of the design that the room would be full of bugs - it wasn’t at all. We first stayed at Kikian Villa before going to Jack’s, and I have to say there we had more bugs than at Kanda Homestay. All in all, I am very blessed to have had this experience and look forward to seeing Jack and his family again (this weekend actually, as we’re going back for a ceremony).

Beautiful home, very welcoming host, lovely garden. And a very delicious Balinese breakfast (one of the best I have ever had, plus they were very kind and understanding to accommodate some of my diet's needs). A very nice place to feel the magic of Sidemen. The roosters are not much of a problem once you feel adjusted to the sounds of the countryside. Jack will make sure you visit the most beautiful places around and will share stories that inspire you. It might be one of the best ways to get in touch with the locals and experience their lifestyle and beautiful and colorful traditions. Suksma
