Ernesto, the owner and host was absolutely excellent. Kind, informative and spoke excellent English. He gave us a walking tour of his property highlighting the sustainable aspects of how he has transformed this typical farm he bought into a working sustainable ecosystem.
We stayed in one of their cabins with comfortable beds and private bath. The window openings are well screened so we enjoyed the sounds of the tropical forest birds.
Absolutely delightful experience for both of us!
Food was local and delicious!
The only unfortunate thing was that we didn't have more time to enjoy there!

It was amazing experience for our family. I wish we could stay longer, there is a lot to do and explore at Ernesto's farm. Wild nature, amazing views, a lot of animals made our stay really exclusive. We definetly recommend this place to all people who want to expirience real and wild Costa Rica!
Thanks to Ernesto and his wife for so much fun!

Ernesto really exceeded our expectations. The hospitality was unforgetable. We got to know the farm and its surroundings and got a lot of infirmation abot Costarician agriculture, politics... The tradicional food was delicious. This stay was a big surprise. We felt very welcome!

very friendly hosts; spacious rooms; nice shower; quiet location; nice dinner
road access if using GPS is awful (10 miles of extremely rutted roads); must instead access via a main road; wifi was very unreliable, and only in the eating area

Ernesto, for us, was the highlight of our experience on the farm. His passion, his personality, his vision, his openness, and his interest and willingness to teach and show us the farm and what's possible for the future made the whole experience truly worth the drive. We learned so much and really enjoyed our time with him... Not to mention the farm to table dinner that he made available to us if we were interested (for only $8!), the cold, fresh coconut water he gave us right before we left, the star fruit he picked for us, the cacao pods he opened for us...it was all really special.
We also REALLY liked the rock walls of the bathroom in the 'cabin', as well as the sink design... Very creative and natural.
We hadn't realized that it would be a mostly open cabin with no glass windows (only screens). This made for (somewhat) moist sheets in the rainy season.
The mattresses on the double beds especially were also much too soft for us.
Definitely buggy and warm outside in the mornings in the rainy season ...

This is a hidden gem off the beaten track for those who love animals and nature, enjoy great company, and are interested in sustainability and community. Ernesto and Leslie were wonderful hosts, dedicated and openminded, and also just fun and interesting to spend time anf have a beer with.
Ernesto went out of his way to give us a highly insightful tour of his beautiful farm. The community work they do as well as the management of the farm is truly visionary and inspiring. We would have loved to stay longer and are looking forward to coming back one day to our lemon tree!

We travelled in Costa Rica for 6 weeks and had probably about 15 different accomodations - and Altogether this was our best experience!!!
If you are looking for some authentic experience, this is THE place to go! The food is home-cooked and absolutely delicious and by far the best Value for money we ever had in Costa Rica.
Ernesto spent a hole day showing us around the farm, told us about his life, the great projects he is part of and even planted a family tree with us.
We had lovely evenings with him and his wife Leslie where we exchanged story's of our lifes...
There is a river on his farm where you can go for a little swim or you just wander around the property or relax in the spacious community area in one of the hammocks. We had three great relaxing days and are so glad we had this stopover between all the National park main attractions...
Thank you so much Ernesto for the wonderful time!!!
Nothing!
The only thing that you should be aware of is that you live close to nature meaning you might also meet some animals such as bats or mice on your Veranda... We totally didn't mind.

I had not put much thought into this place when I booked it. It was about half way between pin-pointed locations, seemed reasonably priced and, in pictures, looked like a lovely place to lay my head down for the night.
For off the beaten path, this place was an absolute delight.
A pure sanctuary of self-succifiency.
Ernesto, the owner, came out to great me at once and directed me to my cabin. He could only be described as the perfect host, as he immediately made me feel welcome and right at home.
Ernesto loved his property and was very passionate about eco-farming, and it showed in everything he did - from discussing his daily farm activities or sharing his vision to preparing our meal. Every item was either raised on his farm or harvested from his garden. Everything.
This was a very special place,
I was blessed to have met Ernesto and Leslie on this trip and I will be eternally grateful to have chosen this place.

Very beautiful and peaceful place. The house was very nice with one of most pretty bathrooms we had ever see. The owners and people that work there are great people that will go the extra mile for you and the owners do a lot for the society as well. We had a lot of nice places in CR but this was for sure one of the best! I can reccomend to stay here for 2 or 3 nights as there are a few nice places to visit in the area, don’t forget Rimcon de la Vieja park as it is both beautiful as quiet (you can do the Catarata and Las Pailas tour in one day) The other day we went a few hours to Thermo Mania for the hot springs and on our departure we visit Volcan Tenorio and Rio Celeste which was very close and nice as well. The dogs (and cat Figaro) where also very friendly and nice. We had a great time here and the meals are also great!
Mosquitos: so do not forget to spray and lock the door of the House well because if they are inside it is very difficult to find them. But for the rest everything was great!
