The front door had a broken doorknob. The only way to secure the door was by barricading it. The manager said it was a known issue but didn’t offer us to change room fix it or anything else. Very disappointed.

Great location for Old San Juan. Right near beautiful views of the ocean and the fortress. The staff was very nice and accommodating. The property itself is spacious but a little run down in ways. It was clean. During our stay we could hear a lot of people talking and shouting. Didn't bother us so much. The Air con was noisy but since the ceilings are high and there are fans you can get away without using it. There were no windows that had a good view on the first floor which was to be expected. We got our money's worth. This place was inexpensive, not renovated or decorated in any special way but we enjoyed our stay.
Loud Air con. They keys are tricky to work with. I can't say much here because this place was better priced than most. And we appreciated that.

The location and the view are hard to beat. It is in the center of Old San Juan and literally everything is within walking distance and the castles are across the street! Did I mention the ocean view just outside of the window? An amazing stay for a great price!
Everything was absolutely fantastic!

La ubicacion
Tiene goteras, edificio viejo, las fotos de booking no son la realidad. Llovía y el agua caía por la pared, gotera en el pasillo, las ventanas sin cristales y no se pueden abrir. Las camas de muelles hundidas.

The location is great!
I had to carry a 50lbs suitcase, a back pack, several shopping bags and a carry- on suitcase to the property where you check-in. After had to walk alone with all the weight down the road about 3 blocks and carry all my stuff up to the second floor, due to the typical architecture of old San Juan, the climb was quite rough and extremely narrow to pull all the stuff! The doors of this property are a joke! The quality is extremely poor and security is something can’t even be an option here! Can’t leave any valuable on the room, the bathroom is so small I almost never fit in it! I weight 200lbs (not really big person). Bath room was particularly full of long hairs all over, mold on walls and really disgusting, I took only 1 shower just because it was extremely necessary! Other wise would never go in to that bathroom. I think this place should do serious repairs and redoing all the bathroom before continue in to business. There should be definitely better places to stay in Old San Juan.

The location was good.

The only good thing about this stay was the view.
We couldn’t stay in it the first night due to an a/c issue. We were given a room at their other location. When we did check into this room the next day it was dirty. The kitchen was really just a refrigerator and a very outdated and filthy toaster oven with two rusty burners. It wasn’t safe looking or clean. The utensils were basically non existent and the dish and cookware options were sorely lacking. Basically we just used the refrigerator.
The living room furniture was two hard plastic chairs. The balcony was small and there wasn’t anything to sit on. We used the two wooden dining room chairs.
The windows aren’t solid. They just have shutters and the noise is just ridiculous and goes on all hours of the night.
Overall this unit needs serious updating.

Location was perfect
Main ac did not cool enough, but bedroom ac was perfect

The location and view
Very old and could really do with a renovation. Peeling paint on the walls, stained floors, very old bathroom, lumpy beds

The room and the building is in a poor state, more so than the pictures show. But that's not the worst part. This building sits on a stretch of the road where there is traffic 24/7, and the drivers feel compelled to rev up their engines, and blast music out of the open car windows as loud as they can. I'm not overstating this! If you want to be able to sleep at night, stay away from this hotel!

location
super old, super noisy building; insect come in while there is no glass in the window, which is common on the island; but the shaders do not close properly (at all)

it was right where we wanted to be it was accessible to everything we will be back !!

It had the ideal location where I could walk to most any place I wanted to see. I also had a rental car and was able to get street parking during off hours, then use a parking garage to park it long term. Very comfy all around with great AC too.
There was a leak from the bathroom sink, causing a pool of water to collect on the bathroom floor during the stay. Also the remote looked broken and needs replacing.

Location is perfect. Central enough to be near everything but out the way of noisy bars. Massive apartment with equally massive and comfy beds. Kitchen and bathroom are basic and a little dated but for the price I was very happy. Easy check in with a hotel few minutes walk down the road. Would definitely stay again.
Only thing would be that with the usual Puerto Rican window shutters you can occasionally hear noisy guests coming into the building at night. This is by no means the hosts fault though and is the same for most central apartments. Would also be nice to have some soap and shampoo in the bathroom.

Location, view from balcony
First, wasted time trying to get in due to being given wrong lock-box code to get into room.
Stayed in the room called "Cozy"..which must be Spanish for "garbage"....stains all over the disgusting couch, kitchen sink handle comes off with every use, floor looks horrible, wall socket detached from wall with cover broken off (could kill a child if it put it's fingers in it), no water in our room the last day and a half...but somehow other rooms in the building still had water. Etc, etc...
Even small, simple, easy, cheap things that could be done to make the place better, aren't done. Whoever owns or runs La Capitana simply doesn't care, but will be happy to take your money. It was the worst place I have ever stayed in my entire life. Shockingly bad.

Location, Location, Location
it was extremely hard to get a good nights sleep because of the loud mufflers, motorcycles, and the loud music going by on the street!

the location is amazing! right on the main strip, overlooking the Atlantic, situated between both forts. awesome views and comfortable beds. kitchen was stocked with just enough to cook some small meals. there was coffee, milk, sugar and olive oil already. we mostly ate out, but having the few necessities available for us was really nice.
honestly, nothing. travelers should be aware that the location is extremely noisy on the weekends and the water pressure in town comes and goes, but we found a work around with headphones at night when it was really busy and washed hair in the kitchen sink, which had better pressure. we used the shower mostly for rinsing off after the beach.
3.4
Nice location for walking to the town and forts.
Lot's of space but could be better with more furnishings. Put a couch and coffee table in front of the windows.
Front windows couldn't leave open. Shutters were dirty, should have curtains and screens on windows.

walking distance
you could hear all the cars passing by and even the wind. there are no glass windows in the apartment. the Wi-Fi connection was poor. we found out that the connection was better in a little nook by the bathroom. the shower hot water was difficult to set up. the code to get the key was not working. so we have to contact the office.

The location is wonderful. It is facing the Castillo San Cristobal. We can easily walk anywhere in Old San Juan. There is a bunk bed in the room, which is my kids' favorite.
The facility is really old even though the room is called "newly renovated". The room is not clean, unfortunately. The shower water is not warm enough.

The place is perfectly located in Old San Juan ! great view of the ocean and everything is reachable by foot. Facilities are has mentioned.

Thought it could be decorated with prettier art .Was not enough towels and the bathroom needs to have something in shower for bath products abs at least hand soap / towel .
