If you're looking for a bright, welcoming and comfortable place to stay, I highly recommend this sweet house. Super clean. Super comfy. And the air conditioning IS AWESOME. Ed and Margaret are wonderful hosts. They kept in contact to make sure we were happy and to see if we needed anything. Best part though, we flew in overnight and they let us check in early so we could get a shower and a nap. Go ahead and book a stay, you're going to love it.

This home was a great place to stay for our short visit to Newport News. Although we didn't eat meals at the home, if you wanted to cook I think they had everything you could imagine. Note that the coffee pot is not a Kuerig, so don't bring your pods! The house was clean and the beds comfortable. The bathroom is a bit small, but enough to do the job. There are trains running through, you can hear them but strangely enough it's not distracting. I'm a light sleeper and didn't hear them at all once my eyes shut. The neighborhood was safe and had we stayed longer, it would have been great to sit outside. They do provide outdoor seating. There are stores at the end of the road. The Property Owner make clean up a breeze so you can quickly be on the road.

We chose this property because it was close to our son's home. We couldn't have been more delighted! Our stay was over the Christmas/New Year holiday, and upon our arrival, we could see that it was decorated with outdoor holiday lights. That was unexpected and truly welcoming! We had gotten permission ahead of time to bring our small Christmas tree, and once that was set up we felt right at home, and we're warm and very cozy on Christmas morning. We absolutely loved it! About the house...this is a 3-bedroom home, and around 800 sq. ft. Each bedroom has a queen sized bed. It is an older home, so the closets are small and electrical outlets are scarce, but USB ports and plug strips are readily available to power devices. The photos are completely accurate, and the home is immaculate and comfortable. I cooked a lot, and the well-equipped kitchen supplied most of the tools I needed ( I brought my own specialty items.) The appliances were in excellent working order, countertops and floors scrupulously clean, and I had plenty of space to work (we rearranged some appliances to suit our needs and to provide more counter space.) The coffee maker made delicious coffee, and the toaster oven was wonderful. A modern, stacked, combo washer and dryer unit was tucked away in the corner of the kitchen, and worked beautifully. The bathroom, too, was immaculate and the shower very large. As other reviewers have mentioned, the water pressure is not piercing, the bathroom is small, with a pedestal sink with no countertops. This is an older house, so this size bathroom was perfectly acceptable to us. We found it charming. If one has a large family, or a large amount hair/makeup products, it could feel crowded, but we did not, so all worked very well for our needs. Trains. We've got to mention the trains! Disclaimer-my husband and I love, LOVE trains, so ours was a truly wonderful and enchanting experience. We sat, watched them go by, giggled every time we heard the whistle sound and the bells ring, and ran to the front of the house like a child runs to see an ice cream truck! The line is well used by both Amtrak and CSX, so the trains are a thing, but nighttime is very quiet. We loved this cozy little house and will return again, as often as Ed and Margaret will allow. 🙂 Until our son gets stationed elsewhere, when visiting we will call Faraja House "home." It was perfect for us in every way, and absolutely delightful.

The home is close to everything. Comfortable bed after a busy day. The train sounds were surprising at first but we got used to it. Everything went smoothly and the hosts made checking in and out very easy

The overall experience was good. The trains in the late night and early morning were a little frustrating. Lacking a few conveniences like a pitcher and colander but we made due. Owners were easy to communicate with and had quick replies to situations. Convenient to historical sites, beaches, Virginia zoo, shopping and food.

We enjoyed our stay. The property felt like home and was perfect for family time. Also, everyone had a space for private time. Everything we needed was close by.

Walk In shower was unexpected surprise! The kitchen was stocked with every gadget, microwave, air fryer, toaster oven, crockpot, coffeemaker (not keurig), and more! Hanging out in the back yard was enjoyable, even saw a bunny! Would love to stay again.

This was our second stay at this property. The small house serves our needs well. We love the big yard, bar-b-que grill, and convenient location. The hosts are gracious and responsive.

Wow! I can't say enough great things! First- communication with owners was fantastic. They were wonderful to work with, and checked on us during our stay via email as well. Second- the location. It was so close to everything we wanted to go to. We have family in Hampton, and it was super close to them and all the sites we chose to visit. It's also close to all the gas, groceries, and restaurants you could want! There is a railroad directly across the street, so maybe if you're a light sleeper, may cause an issue. However, once I was asleep (and same for my in laws who were in the front bedroom) we never heard them. My son LOVED watching them go by and counting the cars each train had. The house- comfort does not even begin to describe it. The kitchen had EVERY gadget you could ever want! If you've got an air fryer or crock pot or anything else at home- no need to bring it- they have it! I think the only thing the kitchen was missing for us personally was a few plastic cups/plates for our kids. We didn't want to break anything! They even provided coffee for us! The bathroom- perfect space for showering/bathing for adults and the kiddos. The cabinet even had some "emergency" supplies in it, just in case anything popped up! The dining room/living room- perfect space to eat and LOVED the African decor. I also loved teaching my son about the culture and language from the signs and books that were there. The couches were SO comfortable! If we didn't have anywhere to be- it would be so easy just to relax on them all day! I loved the touches of the sandals to wear indoors as well. Did I mention there's a DVD player and Netflix? Plus a whole selection of DVDs in the Blue bedroom to choose from! The bedrooms- perfect size for our family. My in laws took the front room, my son took the middle, and I took the Blue bedroom with my baby. There was enough room to set up her pack n play right next to the bed, and the closet provided enough space to keep our clothes out of the way. There were TVs in each room with Netflix as well- perfect for when my son woke up before everyone and he could entertain himself. Now my favorite part- the beds. WOW. Those were the BEST nights of sleep I've ever had! I even had to look up the mattress brand to send to my husband so we could get one for our bed! I've never slept in a rental with such amazing beds! All I can say is- rent this place! We will definitely be back!

What do 2 teachers and best friends celebrating 20 years of friendship need? The Faraja House! From booking to arrival to various other points in the weekend, Ed and Margaret were amazing! They communicated quickly and often, answered any questions we had (no matter how weird) and were so gracious. Then there is the house itself- beautiful, comfy, and the nicest place I’ve stayed. My favorite part of the house was the kitchen- there were so many gadgets and was well-stocked with lots of supplies that one would usually have to go buy or bring themselves. I got to try an air fryer for the first time and am totally getting one for myself! I also did not expect to be so excited about it, but there is a train track (and crossing) in front of the house. My friend got a little annoyed any time a train went by because I turned in to a kid again and had to go watch it. If you’re sensitive to noises, be prepared with ear plugs as you can hear the train and it’s horn inside. We only noticed it when we were in the front rooms, though. Overall, Ed and Margaret have a beautiful place that’s perfect and I can’t wait to go back.
