About this house rental
A stay at this incomparable 5-star waterfront home is much more than an accommodation. From the moment you step inside the front door you will be treated to magnificent views of Lake Sammamish and the mountains beyond, beautiful spaces filled with light and art, luxurious touches and over-the-top amenities. Blue Heron Lakehouse has a personality all its own, with a colorful collection of contemporary art that adds to the visual appeal.
Though Blue Heron Lakehouse is just 25 minutes from Seattle, it’s surrounded by woods, gardens and water, giving a sense of privacy and making a stay here a true getaway. Northwest-inspired gardens, expansive flower borders and a natural waterfront draw wildlife ranging from deer and raccoons to bald eagles to the home’s iconic great blue heron.
The main floor features a plush, private primary suite with gorgeous lake and mountain views. A bunk room for 4 is also situated on the main floor. There is plenty of room for entertaining on this level, starting with the home’s new media lounge, with a full granite wet bar, which features a Sub-Zero beverage fridge and fun contemporary glasses and barware. A contemporary leather sectional offers comfortable viewing for the 75” flat-screen with 5.1 surround-sound, and a nook holds a poker/games table.
At the heart of the main floor, the great room features a large, curving sectional and leather swivel chairs facing the lake. An open-concept granite-and-stainless chef’s kitchen at one end of the great room is furnished with high-end appliances and stocked with All-Clad cookware and everything needed to prepare feasts. There is seating for 3 at high-top stools at the kitchen island and 8 at the adjacent live-edge dining table. A balcony off the dining area has a bistro set for morning coffee, and a spiral staircase steps down to a terrace near the hot tub.
On the lower level, a canary-yellow modern sectional faces a 65” flat screen. There are three bedrooms on this level: The Stream Room (king), a spacious room with a window wall overlooking a peaceful shade garden and stream; the Patio Suite (queen), with French doors opening to a leafy, private side patio; and the Lakeview Room (queen), with a window wall that opens to the upper terrace.
All the bedrooms feature soft linens, cushy bathrobes and fluffy duvets for peaceful slumbers, and the bathrooms offer a range of comforts, from heated floors and natural soap and shampoo products to curbless showers with rain-shower heads.
Unlike most houses on the lake, we have expansive gardens in front of the house, with terraces stepping down to the lake level. Just outside, on the upper terrace, we have a hot tub overlooking the lawn, gardens and lake. Just around the corner, the North Patio, with a 4-top, offers shade on hot days. The southern border of our home has a very private Zen garden with a natural stream and waterfall.
On the next level down, The Boathouse, with glass windows and sliders on two sides overlooks the lake and gardens. Originally a building for housing boats, this renovated space today holds a kitchenette and couches. Sliding doors in the boathouse open wide to a flagstone dining terrace with a 42” pro Lynx grill and teak table for 8, with a lush lawn just beyond. A wood deck extends from the front of the Boathouse toward the lake, where there's a fire table surrounded by outdoor furniture.
Down a few steps, the lakeside terrace is the length of a basketball court, bordered by a fenced organic vegetable garden at the far end. Guests are welcome to enjoy fresh-picked peas, beans, basil and more, depending on the season. This terrace is tiled with vintage blue dance floor tiles. We set up cornhole on the Blue Terrace in the summertime.
Our long dock gets you out into the heart of the action on the lake, and Adirondack chairs give you the ideal viewing spot for watching wake surfers dance on top of the waves. Lake Sammamish is the warmest Western Washington lake, making it ideal for swimming, and you can dive directly off the front of the dock. We have three stable kayaks for exploring, or you can bring your own boat. We have boat whips and a solar boat lift.
Half the fun of a stay at Blue Heron Lakehouse is watching wildlife. In addition to great blue herons and various waterfowl, black-capped chickadees, blue jays and other birds are drawn in by our birdfeeders and a bird bath. Our resident bald eagles regularly swoop down to pluck fish out of the lake.
When dusk arrives, the lake turns pastel hues reflecting the sunset, twinkling string lights illuminate the gardens and the fire table glows, while jasmine perfumes the air. When you’re ready to retire you’ll retreat to a quiet, luxurious suite or room.
The home’s numerous comforts include mini-splits that offer air-conditioning and heat, smart Nest thermostats and a Sonos whole-house sound system, so you can listen to your favorite tunes anywhere on the property. There is ample parking space—a rarity on the lake—with room for 2 cars in front and 6 in a private gravel upper lot, with hillside stairs leading down to the house.
Please note that we have exterior Ring cameras to protect our property and provide security to our guests.

We had a wonderful time at the house, lots of space for the small kids and all the adults. Kayak’s were fun and we even had our sons boat to use. The steep driveway was a bit of a challenge, thankful for the stairs to get to the upper parking spaces. The house and its accommodations made it worth the climb. All in all a perfect home for a big family. Thanks to David & Leslie

We had a wonderful stay with our family at the Blue Heron lake house. Hosts were amazing with communication and ideas for our stay. The outdoor spaces exceed expectations and the lake is a perfect backdrop for a relaxing getaway.
Highly recommend for anyone looking to get the best of Seattle while enjoying the natural beauty of the lake.

Great communication with the owner throughout the entire process. The home is beautiful and the views spectacular. House has everything you need. The kayaks were a great way to enjoy the lake. The driveway was exciting, but also has parking on the street level. Would highly recommend the home for family and groups.

Exceptional house with room for extended family to relax and discover natural beauty in the lake and it’s constant sparkling water. The close access for water sports and the privacy of a fire pit and hot tub was very appealing. Very well stocked kitchen, comfy bedding and amenities provided.

Everything we could have wished for on a family trip!!! The place is even more charming than the already fabulous pictures. There are so many thoughtful touches like binoculars with a WA bird guide, all the life jacket sizes you would need for the 3 great kayaks. The beds and pillows are very comfortable!! So many areas both inside and outside to lounge and connect in. The property is so well cared for and loved and the host is so helpful at suggesting areas you may want to visit. I wish we had stayed longer.

The “Blue Heron Lakehouse” is aptly named (there us a Blue Heron that visits every morning) and the home was beautiful and very clean. The home was beautiful inside and out and the outdoor spaces were perfect. Our kids loved the hot tub and being right on the lake allowed for constant swims from the dock. Our family was with us and the adults enjoyed the lower patio area with hot tub, fire pit, grill, and plenty of seating. Inside there was plenty of room for everyone and the kitchen was stocked with anything you can think of for cooking or entertaining. Brian and Leslie were fantastic hosts and gave us a full, quick tour at check-in and made themselves available for anything we needed during our stay. Communication before and after was also great. We had a wonderful family week at the house and just wish we could have stayed longer. I certainly recommend this location if you are looking for a beautiful lake front property to take a large family or a few families for a getaway.

Our extended family traveled to Seattle from new York to allend the MLB All-Star Game and Home Run Derby, and to celebrate the 1st birthday of my grand daughter who live in Sammamish. We had 8 adults and 2 children (ages 1 and 4) stying in the house and our Seattle part of the family joined us during the day.
The house fit us perfectly - very clean and well stocked on arrival. It was a most welcome surprise when Brian and Leslie told us they would supply us with high chairs, pack and plays, and a baby gate for the stairs. They even whent and bought a stroller for use yo use so we did not have to schelp one out from New York. Thats REAL service.
Our stay could not have been better and we will definitely make the Lakehouse our first choice on our next family trip to the Pacific Northwest.
PS, the weather was also perfect!!

My family and now husband enjoyed our stay at Brian and Leslie's home! It was only the 6 of us so it was more than enough room for us during our 4 night stay. We would like to thank Leslie and Brian for allowing us to use their home and beautiful outdoor space to elope. We ended up using the deck space near the water for our very short and intimate ceremony to capture the beautiful lake and greenery.
We will be back for a future stay! !
thank you for everything!

I have been looking at this house on VRBO for that last 4 years, ever since my daughter decided to go to school In Seattle. I finally had a large enough group for graduation.
It was worth the wait. The home was exactly what I hoped for. It felt like a home away from home the minute we walked in. The location on the lake is incredible. Maybe the best part though is that it might be the most well equipped home I have ever rented.
I wanted a place where our family and friends could hang out and enjoy our time together. We made dinner at the home almost every night. There are a lot of great restaurants around but having family time and dinners at the home was the best part. There is an incredible outside spot by the lake to eat. And if the weather is a little off the table inside is also awesome.
Another cool thing about this home is it's close to a lot of great places to visit. Bellevue, Kirkland, and Woodinville are fun places to see just to name a few.
The owners are great to deal with. I booked about 6 months out and bugged them with questions the whole time. I received responses almost immediately every time.
The bottom line is this is probably the best home in the Seattle area to rent for a family/group that wants to enjoy hanging out together. The pictures do not do it justice. The home and the owners created one of the best family experiences we have ever had.
We had a trip we will never forget!

Our family had a wonderful time at the Blue Heron Lakehouse. Brian and Leslie greeted us upon arrival and were helpful in getting us oriented to the house and surrounding area. They were proactive in checking in to ensure we enjoyed our stay. This place has refined the art of meaningful gatherings. And we feel so grateful to have found memories from a week of fun, laughter, and great company.

Wonderful Home
We had a fabulous stay in Brian & Leslie's home. Leslie gave us great restaurant recommendations while in the area. She was easy to talk to and make arrangements with. We had a reunion with family while at her home. The home was great for the gathering. It was so comfortable. We would love to stay here again.

Book it now!
This home has the best views and the host so very accommodating. If you thought the pictures were beautiful, wait til you see it in person. We are in awe and had the best time here. The location was perfect. Far enough from the busyness of the city yet close enough to visit. The house has everything!! We wish we could just live there. I’d love to bring my family back as this would be a great place for a family reunion and the children would love it. There’s so much to do and so much room. We absolutely loved our stay and our host! If you’re on the fence about booking it, just do it and thank me later 😊

Lake Sammamish + Family + Friends = Awesomeness!
Words can’t describe how awesome this place is!! My family and a few of our friends had a getaway here, and there was so much for everyone to enjoy! The view out over the lake and mountains from the kitchen and living room is absolutely dreamy, and we loved all the fall colors in the gardens. There’s a feeling of privacy and serenity here that made us all relax our shoulders and feel immediately at home.
We had fun watching movies on the big-screen TV, exploring with the kayaks, playing cornhole and sitting around the fire table with a few fantastic reds from our day trip to Woodinville Wine Country, which is so close to the house!
We love to cook and were thrilled to find a vacation rental kitchen that goes far beyond what we usually find. They had absolutely everything we could possibly think of needing. They even had a really nice hand mixer and muffin tins, so I was able to make blueberry muffins for brunch.
All of us enjoyed the comfortable beds and the amazing sound system that lets everyone choose their favorite music to play in different rooms. As an artist, I loved seeing artwork throughout the house, including some really striking sculptures.
Our entire getaway was just so fun and easy thanks to the best hosts ever, Brian and Leslie, who made sure we had everything we needed and gave us great local recommendations for restaurants and fun things to do with the kids. We made lifetime memories and look forward to our next visit!

The Blue Heron Lakehouse - On Our List of Favorites
Leslie and Brian had greeted us upon arrival, going out of their way to welcome us into their house and making us feel at home. As a family we found the in- and outdoor living space spacious, beautiful and very comfortable. We appreciated the fully equipped kitchen, as well as the access to a delightful vegetable garden. The location is ideal, away and yet close to Seattle, the sights and shopping, the lake beautifully clear and relatively warm. A little rabbit came by on a regular basis, we could admire the blue heron landing nearby, and also a bald eagle, living in a tree behind the house, swooping over the lake. We had a wonderful family vacation time at the Blue Heron. Thank you Leslie and Brian!

Oasis during CoVid and Cancer Treatment
We were desperate to find a location close to Seattle that offered a nature filled experience, but also close to activities and restaurants. My sister was undergoing cancer treatments and needed a break from the city with family. Luckily this home had a cancellation due to CoVid and our prayers were answered. The owners went to great lengths to ensure all was sanitized and ready for our stay. We appreciated their flexibility with an early checkin time as well. The home is beautifully decorated, we thoroughly enjoyed all the options for seating outside for various times of the day. What a treat to see so many eagles flying over and sitting in the trees! Morning kayaks were magical. Loved being able to use the Sonos app to play our own music throughout the home with their speakers. Also loved the two locations with big screen TV's to watch Netflix or Prime Videos. Truly an excellent location and beautiful home just as pictured and it met our every need. We hope to return!

Idyllic location for relaxation and adventure
This is a stunningly beautiful and comfortable property. It's great for large family/friend groups, but blissful for couples as well. Plenty of spots to gather, or nest with a book. The vista is stunning, regardless of weather. We were treated to the sight of 2 bald eagles soaring over the lake and diving for fish.

Great Lake House to Make Family Memories
This was our second year to rent the lake house and it did not disappoint! We had a great time together as a family and lots of fun memories were made. The outside barbeque and boat house made grilling and eating out at the tables so easy for our family of 10. We fished off the docks and loved the use of the kayaks and canoes. When we wanted to go out to dinner, Leslie and Brian gave us a great list of kid friendly restaurants. We found a fun jump place for our grandsons and a theatre nearby. Not far from the lake house is a great park and plenty of family friendly hiking trails. I would highly recommend this lake house to create your own family memories!

Great Family Vacation
Fantastic place and incredible host. Brian Brian and Leslie welcomed us, showed us around, provided us with two great bottles of red and were simply terrific hosts. The house felt like home - great kitchen and bedrooms and gorgeous views. My wife, kids and in-laws loved it. Highly recommend. Cannot wait to go back again in summer and use the barbecue, lake and boats!

Beautiful gathering place
This place was perfect for our long weekend. There was plenty of space and we enjoyed coffee overlooking the lake, canoe rides and grilling outside and having dinner lakeside. We have 3 small kids and the stairway inside doesn’t have a rail on one side so we were cautious about that but it wasn’t a big deal for us. They had a pac and play which was helpful when traveling. Hosts were very accommodating.

Amazing house and amazing views!
We had an absolutely wonderful time at the house on Lake Sammamish. The house and yard are as beautiful as seen in the pictures. We were there with our family and our three grandsons. Our grandsons, age 4,7, and 9, went fishing and boating every day. It was so wonderful for them to be able to jump in the jacuzzi after a dip in the lake. We used the barbecue everyday and enjoyed the outdoor tables to eat meals. I would highly recommend the house as a perfect get away!! We definitely want to come back!

Beautiful Lake Home in Great Location
This well designed, contemporary style lake house is an incredible find! The kitchen includes upscale appliances and every cooking/fixing/serving piece imaginable. The owner, Brian, left every staple we needed to make gourmet meals combined with our own purchased food. Accommodations are spectacular - 2 master suites and enough bedrooms to fit 11 of us. Bedding is upscale and comfortable. From the main room wall of windows (also from 3 bedrooms, main lower level, and kitchen), you view serene Lake Sammamish with mountains in the distance. You're also overlooking the beautifully landscaped yard (interesting, colorful plantings and walkways) and the patio with separate covered kitchen/bar including fridge and sink. We grilled out every day! A cool, circular outside iron staircase is a fun way to take you from upper to lower level. There's plenty of comfortable seating in the yard and by the water. Fun to walk on the dock (many fish to view), and we enjoyed the included kayak and canoe. If you can bear to leave these spectacular and relaxing surroundings, downtown Seattle is an easy 20 minute drive. Also, the Salish Lodge for breakfast (Honey from Heaven can't be missed!!) and the spectacular Snoqualmie Falls is a quick 20 minutes. From there, Twin Falls (awesome hike, not too strenuous) is only 5 minutes away. From the home, you can also enjoy Woodinville (wine country) in 20 -25 minutes. We have family near the Canadian border - a beautiful 2 hour drive. Vancouver would even be drivable from this home! We missed going to Puget Sound (although we drove Chuckanut Drive - not to be missed), and didn't get to Mt. Rainier, but those are nearby also. If you're looking for a property that will comfortably hold a large family and/or group of friends that's located in the center of all activities and will allow you to relax and unwind in pristine surroundings, look no further. You can feel great about renting this home. Brian and his friend, Leslie, took great care and time to make our adventure special. They left wood in the fire pit by the water and even went grocery shopping for us due to our late evening arrival. They were helpful beyond belief, and their communication was great! Many things we did in the area were due to their suggestions - hikes, places to visit, places to avoid, parking, etc. Brian has obviously put lots of love and care into his property, and made us feel like royalty. I miss it already - wish we lived there! We will be back!!!

Peaceful Sanctuary and Lovely Vista
Wonderful view from both levels! Early morning sunrises were spectacular! Well appointed with every convenience available including a state of the art sound system. Outdoor grill was a particular favorite. Comfortable, open floor plan with contemporary kitchen appliances. Quiet and removed location yet close to shopping and restaurants. We were there at year end and look forward to returning in warmer months to make maximum use of the lakeside recreational features. Owner was helpful and responsive providing information on arrival and as needed.

Awesome place, pictures dont do it justice.
We loved our stay here. The owner is chill, and made us feel right at home. He followed up several times to make sure things were going ok and was very easy to deal with.
The house itself is exceptional. Perfect setup for big family vacations like ours. The lake is so warm, and a ton of fun! Would re-book here in a heartbeat.

My favorite vacation spot
I have stayed at this property for four years and every time my family, friends and I go we love it more. This year I stayed in and cooked every night for all our visitors and we had the best time. We sit outside every night and enjoy the view of the lake and listen to nice music and just talk and laugh. The home has 5 bedrooms and they are always very clean! The kitchen is well stocked for a party with more wine glasses than you could ever need. I love my time on the lake and I would highly recommend this property.

Great Family Reunion
Our granddaughter was in the national Girls Under Fourteen Soccer Tournament in Kirkland so we decided to rent this lake house for a week and invite our other grandchildren for a mini family reunion. We were six adults and six teenagers which is more than what the house says it will accommodate, but it worked. Two of the boys slept on air mattresses in the separate boat house.
And what a great time we had! The house had good wifi and a Sonos sound system - great assets when you have teenagers. But the lake was the main attraction and they spent most of their time in the water. The kayak was very popular but the canoe was a more of a challenge and created some very humorous moments. Two of the boys were fisherman and went out on the dock everyday and caught fish every time - it was catch and release.
They also managed to talk the neighbor into going tubing behind his ski boat. Next time I think I would splurge and rent a boat for the week. At invertsports.com I found a company that would put a ski boat in the lake for us - expensive and does require some advance planning.
But enough about the teenagers. The adults also thoroughly enjoyed the house with its decor, views of the lake, and relaxing patio. We did go sightseeing one day in Seattle, but after that we all agreed we just wanted to enjoy the lake house.
If our granddaughter's team gets invited back next year we will definitely rent this house again.
