The location of this hotel is great, while it's not on the beach, it is very close walking distance, and it's right in town and a short walk to the nightlife. The property itself is quite big, the pool is beautiful, the vibe is cool.
This property has a lot of potential, some attention to the details and using the vibe to have people hang out, music at the pool, food/drink service at the pool could really elevate this property.

The property manager, Alex, was incredibly friendly, welcoming, accommodating and really just lovely. There were a couple unexpected hiccups upon arrival but she handled them with grace.
There could be some freshening up of the property but overall it did meet the needs of our group.

Location was good, facility had a great feel, environment.
Water pressure was very low, maintenance was not adequate.

The location was excellent.
It was not well maintained. The BBQ and hot tub area were not operable. Bugs were everywhere, mostly ants, but we also had large cockroaches. The cleaner said she would come clean everyday around 10, except Sunday, and she only came 1.5x out of 6 days. The bedding and towels had stains and holes on them, which grossed me out.

The staff was wonderful, especially Alex. The location of the property was close to the beach and within an easy walk to restaurants yet far enough away from noisy night clubs. The room with 2 full beds and a kitchenette adequately accommodated our family of four considering the price. The AC and window blinds worked well too.
The beds were a bit firm and pillows could use a refresher. Storage and hangers for clothes could be improved.

Location to the beach was great. There is also a spa there on site.
The bed was too hard for me. My husband loved the bed.

The location was walkable to the beach and downtown. There is a kitchenette in some rooms. The manager is very helpful and doing the best she can with this property. There is a coffee shop right next door and an American-style sports bar 10 steps across the street.
This is not a boutique hotel or a resort as the pictures might indicate. It looks much better in photos but is very basic and the property is in need of upgrades. My particular room looked out to a huge tank that I'm guessing with septic. There were dated, carelessly hung pictures hung in the room. The back patio (nice to have) had no chairs and needed paint. It was the value that got me. Vibe lacking. I usually take a zillion pictures and promote the interesting places I stay, but these two are all I have.
I paid about $300/night and if it was 1/2 that price, really wouldn't be an issue. As a 3x/year visitor to Quintana Roo, I feel like this is based on experience not just complaining to complain.

Location, location, location. In a very good place. Restaurants on the street are excellent.
Sink leaked. One tiny pillow per person. Shower not designed well.

We’ve stayed here multiple times and will be back again in February! It’s our home away from home in Isla Mujeres. Short walk to the beach, great drinks across the street - just great!

I consider a property like this to be a guest house: it’s a step above a hostel, but not at all hotel quality. I agree with some other reviewers that this property is absolutely lacking for the price point. I backpacked for many years and have no issue with hostels or guest houses, however at $200+ per night this property is absurd. It should have cost a max of $100. Rooms are cramped; kitchen appears to be for looks only as is largely unusable; the hotel did not provide a water jug to our unit (like other units had) and instead gave us 1-2 individual bottles per person each day, but only when we asked; there appears to be no security; I did not see a person at the front desk the entire time; and, as others mentioned, there is no safe in the room. None of this would be a problem at a much lower price, but current pricing is completely out of line.
See other comments. We stayed here as a last resort, as our desired accommodations were not available for the first few days of the trip. Had I booked this for an entire vacation, I would have been furious and extremely disappointed. Again, it’s fine for a $50-100/night option, but is absolutely not competitive with similarly priced options on the island at a comparable price.

location close to beach, friendly staff

Best thing is the location. Convenient to the beach and main area. The feeling of being secluded and peaceful was nice.
Small shower, shower heads that partially sprays water, bed linens and towels with stains.

The property was quiet and close to everything. The location was good (only reason I booked this hotel). However, there are plenty of way better hotels in the same location.
There is literally no staff and no one to help you with any problems. Want to be pampered? or coffee in the morning? need clean towels? You can absolutely forget about it. In our case the internet was not working our entire stay, and there is no one around to help you with anything. Not even the manager who is only available through texting. We didn’t even get a reply through the booking.com texting service. It was a massive inconvenience having to run to various restaurants to hold online meetings for work, and a major let down to not be able to finish our favorite TV show on Netflix at night which we where saving to do on vacation. The feeling you will be left with in the end is that no one cares if you were comfortable, and that you over payed by a lot. A motel has better service- even an air bnb. Also, the couch was so incredibly dirty I didn’t even want to put my suitcases on it- wished I could just throw it out of the room.

Great location right by the beach, quiet area, fabulous spa, and amenities. They communicated well and were available to help. The Library area had great wifi to work from.
The room quality was not what I expected. Our first room had bugs, a broken sink, low water pressure, and rainwater dripping on the bed. We got placed in a new room which was much better. However, there were still bugs and there was no toilet seat.
Don't expect wifi in the rooms.

I love this hotel. it’s location is amazing. the staff especially Alex the manager is awesome! she is super accommodating and always happy to help!
the only thing I didn’t like is that they use to have security at the door at night. I didn’t recall that being the case anymore. playa norte is very safe but when you are traveling alone it’s still nice to have someone who works at the hotel at night

Very easy to access from the ferry, the hotel is just in front.
The room was very spacious and recently renovated.
Staff was nice
It was extremely noisy, our room was directly facing the port the street and there was a huge window instead of a wall. Lot of noise from 5am. The room was recently renovated and there was still lot of dust from works everywhere. Floor was not clean at all, stickers were still on the dish. Lot of useless stuff for cooking but not heater. Wifi Connexion was extremely bad. We could only access sometimes and only from outside of the room. The hotel is ok if you are not picky but definitely does not worth that price at all

Great location right two minutes from the beach.
So our room flooded. Completely and totally flooded in two minutes of taking a shower. The drain was clearly badly clogged. The manager/owner sent a kind and beleaguered cleaning lady to “deal with it”. In the meantime, we lost our evening to this chaos. No attempt to mitigate the mess this made for our evening or stay. Due to serious clog the whole room smelled of the rancid water in the drain. Ended up walking the corridor to go shower in another room (hostel stay anyone?)
The hotel is is a mad state of vicious disrepair and lack of maintenance. Dust swaddling the air conditioning unit. Cracks running laps across the bathroom and patchwork paintwork. A true miserable state. Oh and the toilet leaked water into the floor.
Looks nothing like the pictures A bitter disappointment well past its prime.

Just awful!! the walls are peeling, the room is full of mosquitoes and cockroaches, the manager's behavior is unprofessional and rude, not recommended at all!
