It was very nice, the beds were comfortable. The home was very clean and enjoyed the sunroom watching the rabbits and the deer. Liked the little beach are but could not go out into the water to float due to jelly fish.

We had such a great week here. The house has everything you need and the property is beautiful. We loved sitting by the water and kayaking. There was a family of deer who visited a couple times. And the sunsets over the river were amazing!!!!

Perfect waterfront getaway
A return visit to this lovely waterfront home. The views can’t be beat. We enjoyed kayaking, relaxing on the private beach, and fishing. The home is beautifully decorated and was very comfortable for our family of four. Everything was clean and the kitchen had what we needed to cook our meals. This place is a gem. The house was beautiful and clean, they had everything I could have asked for. We had an issue with the grill and the owners response was immediate and we were grilling in no time. The water was amazing, but there are quite a few jellyfish in the water though, so bring some meat tenderizer! We were there a week and enjoyed every moment. Thank you for an amazing first VRBO experience!

Wonderfully relaxing! Totally unplugged!
We loved the walk thru the enchanted forest to the river, paddling on the river was great. We saw all kinds of wildlife, even cow-nosed rays in one of the creeks! We toured the area and saw the land that was part of my husband's 10th great-grandfather's property. The view of the river from the house is perfect.

We loved our time here. The house is plenty big and very well appointed. Everything was very clean. The house was also well stocked with what we needed (we cooked all our meals and the kitchen was great). The views can't be beat - so relaxing to look out at the water from nearly every room.
We loved the private beach. It was perfect for our little one to play in the sand. Hughlett nature area was a great morning outing. Highly recommend this rental.

beautiful house on beautiful property
We had a very nice week here. My husband worked and my daughter did zoom school. The house is even bigger and nicer than the pictures. The view of the water was beautiful from both inside and outside the house. We enjoyed the river and kayaks. We hope to stay here again.

Perfect Retreat
The property was absolutely as pictured and described, the perfect, peaceful water retreat we were after. The house itself is well laid out, plenty of space, comfortable and clean. The kitchen is well-equipped. The views are a balm to the soul. The weather cooperated, so we were able to kayak and enjoy the outdoor fire pit. Katie, the owner, was so responsive and great to work with. From the bottle of wine, s’mores fixings and whimsical holiday-themed Turkey cookie kit waiting for us when we arrived to the folding table supplied to give us all important space to eat outside during these times, we felt welcomed and supported. Just wonderful and we will definitely be back!

Great getaway for 2 families of 4!
We had a wonderful time! 2 families, 4 adults, 4 kids from 7-13. We relaxed, enjoyed the river and the kayaks, went fishing and played games while looking out at the beautiful views. The house was well appointed for families, life jackets, kayaks, floats, towels, a small beach, an area of water that stays shallow for quite a distance and plenty of room to spread out. We fully enjoyed our getaway! The only problem was that no one was ready to go home!!!

Great time in the Northern Neck
We had a great time and the host is very responsive! We were able to mostly avoid jellyfish and spent a lot of time at the beach at nearby Hughlett Point. They were dealing with some HVAC/leak issues the week we were there which was too bad, but understandably COVID meant it could not easily be addressed while we were there. Owner was very good about following up though!

Much needed escape
We had a lovely and much needed socially distant escape with another family we had formed a pod with. The kids ranged from 2-6 and loved their time down at the water playing in the sand. The adults enjoyed evenings by the fire pit chatting under the stars.
Great place to take the family and get away from it all.

We were lucky to find this hidden jem of a place! The house, “Tidewater,” is well decorated, well lighted, and spacious enough for our family of nine. The kitchen was generously stocked with everything we needed. The owners, Katie and Andy even left some bottles of water and other nice items in the fridge! They have a sun room where the kids spent a good amount of time- it was warm upon check-in, but once we got settled in and saw they had a nice AC unit/dehumidifier- it made the room a nice hangout area! (We kept it at 72 as 70 or below made it a little too cold for the younger group). The kids enjoyed playing in the back where there is direct access to the water (I’m told it’s the Wicomico River)for playing in the sand for the little ones and looking for shells. The little beach area will vary with the tide, but it was perfect for the kids! They went swimming in the mornings, and tubing and kayaking later in afternoon. They have two singles and one double kayak and our kids were pros by the end of the first day! We noticed during our stay, the jellyfish was more present towards the evening, but can’t be certain of their behavior! Also, if there is anything we needed, Walmart was less than 15 mins away. There was also a nice little historic Catholic Church (St. Frances de sales church) in Kilmarnock, which is a only a couple miles away from Walmart- was a nice little bonus! Katie had some nice recommendations and we took the family to an ice cream shop and shake place- you’ll have to ask her! Katie was extremely responsive with any question I had for her. If there was any issue, she immediately took care of it with such grace and class- I much appreciated her approach to making sure families enjoyed their stay. Although our trip was only for 5 days, it was very enjoyable for our first time in northern neck!! We hope to be back again soon!

Wonderful and relaxing visit
Having had a house in this area in the late 1990s we knew what we wanted to get out of a weekend away. We were not disappointed. This is a well appointed home with plenty of room. The views are fantastic. We like to cook rather than go out for each meal and the kitchen was a pleasure. We spotted some deer in the yard the day we left. The location put us close to Kilmarnock, Irvington and Reedville. We had made reservations for dinner at the Tides Inn but decided to cook dinner ourselves instead because we didn't want to drive and leave our little "bubble". The deck off the bedroom is a real treat. We plan to re-book Tidewater again in the future but for a longer stay.

Beautiful property... Great view of the river with birds, butterflies, and deer. Feels secluded, but within easy driving distance to shopping and restaurants. We especially enjoyed lunch at the Kilmarnock Inn. Communication with the owner was perfect... Attentive, but not intrusive. All-around a good experience.
