Ronald was really lovely to deal with! Very accomodating and extremely helpful when we needed it. Location is extremely central but still quiet.

Very convenient location to go to touristic places and easy to come from the airport as it is neat to the central train station. The guests are lovely people, the room is spotless and have nice smell of the fragrance stickers.
For those who love a bright room maybe it's not the best option, as I don't mind, it wasn't an issue for me.

We stayed 5 nights at the end of April. Upon arrival we were warmly greeted by a nice couple who has prepared for your comfort. Owners have put decorating touches everywhere and apartment has a calm vibe. It had a mini-fridge/freezer. It was spacious and we had a variety of espresso and tea. There was a canal in front and very convenient to the Amsterdam train station and major attractions. We recommend this apartment if you are in the area.

Niente.

The room was very good, clean and tidy and has a nice decoration. It had everything we needed for a short stay, bed and sheets were comfortable. Although there is no reception, Ronald was there to welcome us when we arrived and they were always available to help in the chat. The location is just perfect - close to the center but not noisy at all. We absolutely loved it!
There is nothing we didn’t like about this property.

A very lovely hotel in the city center of Amsterdam. The room was quite clean and had a new look. Our communication with the owner of the property was quite good. Every day, they asked us if we needed anything. We especially loved the location. Although it was in the center of the city, it was a quiet and calm street. You can walk to the central station in 5 minutes. we were amazed by everything. Thank you, David and Catta for everything. When we come back to Amsterdam, we will choose this place.
Since we didn't stay in the street side room, it was a bit dark inside the room, although there was quite a bit of lighting.

David was very accommodating and helpful, quiet apart from builders next door.
Very clean and secure
This is not a hotel, this is a house with rooms (nice rooms) to rent for the night.
We needed brighter lighting, lots of lights, but all very dim.

The location was fantastic, loved the privacy of the Blue room and our host David was awesome. Have stayed in Amsterdam several times and by far this was our favourite place to stay. Again, David was such a really nice guy and really made us feel welcome

the property was in a great location, the entrance leads straight to the canal and a beautiful 5 minute walk to the central station. David was super helpful and lovely too
The doors were slightly loud when closing as they’re fire doors but it wasn’t too disruptive

The location is excellent. The manager of the place, David, was very kind and helpful, helped us with great recommendations and was always available. No doubt it is a place to visit again
Nothing, everything was great

The accommodation is located right in the city center. Many attractions can be reached on foot. The central train station is also nearby, where all metro lines meet and many tram lines are available.
Our hosts were very kind and helpful. They were always available.
The room was very cozy and the bed very comfortable. The refined style of the room harmonizes well with the classic Amsterdam exterior of the house. This greatly contributed to the fact that we spent unforgettable days in Amsterdam. Thank You Catta and David!
Everything was perfect!

very comfortable bed, spacious room. central yet quiet.
the manager is extremely friendly and very helpful. I would definitely come back
we expected a cleaner to come every day. we staid only 3 nights so this was not an issue in the end

Love it in the city center and also close to central station. It is easy for us to reach attractions as well as types of restaurants.
The host and his wife are helpful and friendly too.
The room itself is stylish, clean and cozy. However, you cannot compare its amenities with hotel.
Would suggest the host to provide some tissue box in the sitting room.

Amsterdam accommodation is relatively expensive at the moment compared with many European cities and you get relatively what you pay for. Whilst recognising that the owners of Shenzhou have gone to some effort, it is very basic - it’s not a hotel and doesn’t provide any of the services of a hotel beyond the provision of a clean room and bathroom and tea/coffee facilities. So whilst the bed is large and comfortable there is no daily servicing - something you’re not told until after you have paid. And there’s no safe so don’t bring anything valuable you’re not able to carry round with you.
Useful also to know that:
1. David, the charming manager, does not live on the premises and manages a number of other properties. He did repair a non-functioning radiator swiftly (and supplied a portable one and an extra blanket in the meantime) but was not, for personal reasons, able to store my bag between checkout and leaving Amsterdam which meant a time wasting trek to a storage facility.
2. I stupidly left my adapter plug on the Eurostar. He showed me a clever trick to plug the phone charging wire into the TV but that charges very slowly (less than 10% an hour on an iPhone) and only when on. The electric sockets in the room are too old to have phone charging sockets and he did not have an adapter to lend me. Luckily lovely Cafe Steven in Neiumarkt (a couple of minutes walk) were happy to charge it while I had breakfast.
3. The rooms look very ‘Elle Decoration’ on the website. But the two windows in mine both overlooked internal courtyards, the paint colours are dark and the lights are low wattage and have smoked glass shades. So bring a torch if you want to read at night or plug anything in (the sockets are black too).
4. The building works next door and outside my window started at 7 am when I was there. If you’re not ok with being woken by very loud and close banging and drilling at 7 o’clock, check they have finished before you book.

Great boarding hotel in a fantastic location in central Amsterdam. Room was attractive and comfortable with good bed, faculties, and shower. David the manager was v.helpful and welcoming . Really good value for money

the basement room although nice was quite dark as not much natural light

Location is excellent. Near all the action but quiet. Walking distance from central station. VERY comfy bed, best I’ve had in a hotel/stay almost. David (host) was incredibly helpful, friendly and nice.Lovely shower, and beautiful toiletries. Room was renovated beautifully for an old building.
Lighting is quite bad, had to strain to read. But no big deal. No milk but got some from supermarket no big deal. Heating hard to regulate and windows didn’t open more than an inch. Didn’t bother us too much though.

We stayed here for my daughters 21st in November (apologies for the delay in reviewing). Everything was first class!! David, the host, was so quick to respond to our messages, arranged everything perfectly and made my daughters 21st so special with decorations in the room. The location was absolutely perfect, close to Central station and all the sites of Amsterdam. The room was very clean and had everything we needed. I’d read previous comments about the rooms being small or dark but to be honest the room was perfect for us. We loved the decoration, perfect ambience, bathroom was small but very clean and perfect for what we needed. We had a wonderful weekend and I chose the perfect place to stay. We had a canal view. Would definitely stay here again. Have told so many people about Shenzhou and have just recommended to one of my best friends.

Great location, 8 mins from station, centrally located within vibrant an busy area. With china town just over the canal, Nieuwmarkt square and metro just 200 metres away with lots of bars and restaurant's. Anne Frank and Museums just 15min walk away. We had a great time, and the staff who met us were really helpful throughout.
This is within a busy and vibrant area, so if you want a quiet space in amsterdam this may not be for you. but we loved the location and feel of the area.
