We loved our room - it was comfortable, exceptionally clean and we had a special honeymoon message displayed on our bed for our arrival. The staff were so friendly and helpful and Georgia was an incredible host. Kiganja had a beautiful atmosphere, which made the perfect honeymoon destination for us. We honestly can’t rate this hotel highly enough!
Nothing, we loved every bit of our stay.

Georgia was extremely accommodating and helpful with any questions.

Georgia and their team are absolutely stunning. The people, working in the restaurant are attentive to details (opened my bottle, refilled the juice or helps to remove the bee from the table, silly stupid things but they truly took care of me) I ate here the best pancake on the island - it wasn’t oily and partially raw. They serve the scrambled eggs like a carpaccio - love it too! And the morning goey bites, were lovely! I loved the atmosphere of the entire accommodation, I had a tricky issue in the swimming pool - watch your step, one of the side is so deep 😆 The bed is so large and comfy, I slept like a baby.
It was difficult to cool down the room temperature and I had just mild or hot water in the shower and I like to cold here.

Friendly, helpful hosts and staff. Very good maintained. Housekeeping every day. Clean swimming pool and delicious food from the kitchen.
Don’t expect service according to western standards. Though some employees do stand out. Not trying to be creative with breakfast in the tropics…

Just beautifully presented, and lovely bed linen. good breakfast and espresso! Italian wines too. We were made very welcome and we loved our stay. Great location too, with little beach shacks selling delicious lunches nearby
Air conditioning wasn’t very cold.

the place is ideal for real relax to be away from the rush places. the breakfast was great and for lunch and dinner a special menu is also available. the place offers a lot of table games, books for spending valuable time. The families with kids and the couldples can always find their needs for relax.

The moment we arrived, we felt at peace and it didn’t take long to feel relax and at home. The staff were so accommodating as we arrived very early and they managed to get our room sorted (well before check in time!). Have to complement the chef, we dined there on several occasion, although slow in service, the food was so delicious. We didn’t have a single bad meal there! Breakfast was simple and basic but the cakes, pastries and tropical fruits were divine! wifi access was good as well and easy access to the beach!
Georgina was a wealth of knowledge of the area and was able to organize and suggest tours for our family with little time.
Nothing!

Everything was perfect. Quiet and relaxing place to stay. Very comfortable and clean. Food is fresh and everyone is very nice.
If you choose the half board you don’t have an option on food. There is only the menu for the day. I’m lactose intolerant myself and of course they had that in consideration during my stay. I was offered always the same fruits for desert at dinner but I wish they had put an effort on making a lactose free desert at least once.

It's a place like being in paradise. Quiet, very beautiful and yet in the middle of wild nature. The breakfast was good and you could enjoy it for a long time in silence. Beautiful!

We had a great time at Kiganja. Georgia is a great host and ready to help with info about anything in zanzibar. We had dinner there every night and it was delicious, breakfat was also great, fresh and delicious. Highly recommend!

I recommend 100%.
it is quiet, peaceful, from the moment you enter, you feel good.
I liked everything, just keep in mind that Mattemwe is quite so the hotel is perfect to chill there but the beach is not the best one. we went there 2 days just to relax and it was perfect (even 1 or 2 more would have been nice there)

We toured the whole island of Unguja, and stayed in many similar small residences/hotels. This one is definitely the best one: the location is right by the beach, in a quiet location, perfect for relaxing. The rooms are comfortable and full of hotel-like small touches: all the information you need is available in your room, kettle for coffee and tea, a stocked bar fridge that works, brand new mosquito net. They seem small details but similar priced and more expensive accommodations in Zanzibar often have small defects or less features. The breakast is delicious, slightly different than most, with more sweet pastries or cakes combined with the usual zanzibari fruit. The owners have done a superb job and also helped me to recharge the dead battery of my rental car.

Goergia is helping on everything. The staff is really nice and so patient with kids ( we have 4 boys) , the size of the hotel is great, there is such a relaxing and nice atmosphere in this hotel and the food is really good, we had 3 great days deconnected and relaxed in Matenwe and especially in Kijanga... feel at home, and the ambiance between the customers was also great ! the room as perfect size with a fridge which is good when you buy fruits. The balcony is really cute too
Nothing to complain about in this hotel

Everything at Kiganja was exceptional and exceeded our expectations. Rooms are comfy, clean and spacious. Breakfast is very generous and it easily fulls you up till late afternoon. We didn't need lunch services, but we ate there our dinner every evening - the food is delicious and prices are comparable to other restaurants. A'la carte or special daily menues, everything was very tasty. The host, Georgia, is so friendly and helpful, she was always going one step further with our kids and they loved playing in the sand around the pool. Pool area is like an oasis, full of plants and trees, offering shaddow from the sun - defenetely more green that on the pictures and also the dining area has much more character than shown on booking.com. We loved any minute of our stay.

I’ve been in a few hotels in Zanzibar, more expensive then this one and I can tell you by far that this is the best one we’ve stayed in. So quiet, relaxing, not too many rooms, not too many people. You have the beach to yourself 30 seconds away. The food was also delicious.
really nothing to complain about

Nice quiet place, really close to a long beautiful beach where you could see the kids playing in the afternoon and the local people catching fish in their nets.
Hard to find cheap local food.

My boyfriend and I enjoyed our stay at Kiganja.
Clean rooms, epic poolside view amd the breakfast was deliciousness! Totally recommend 👌🏾
One of the kitchen staff came to me as we were having breakfast asking if I already made our room pay. I mean how could I possibly spend a night without paying?
He really made me upset and he was sort of racist thinking that blacks ain’t supposed to be in such places. Like seriously???
This really threw me off!
Otherwise the owners were really friendly and nice.

Cute place. If you like small hotels, where there is peace and calmness, this is it. Very nice owners, great staff, amazing cook, clan pool. Maybe not easy to find, but just call them and they will give you directions. I do recommend the place.
Hotel was great, no minuses at all, maybe only the beach is not the best, best ... Good thing is that is not crowded, but a lot of 'sea grass' on the beach and when you go to water.

The host are really nice and the food was also really good. Not in a busy beach, so not a lot of people trying to sell souvenirs. A great place to rest without much entertainment to offer nearby except for the beach.

Quiet small boutique hotel with nice swimming pool in nice quiet location. Wonderful friendly owners. Good breakfast. Very clean.
May be surprise for someone but what was really the problem for me it was lack of proper light in the evening to read. I like to read books on vacations and it was almost impossible in the room at the evening and completely impossible on the balcony. I would also like to have some more comfy chairs on the balcony.
