The cottage was lovely and warm and the bed was extremely comfortable. Lovely clean bedding. The cottage was very well equipped. The views from the cottage were beautiful. It felt very private as only the owners' house was nearby and it was very peaceful being at the top of a drive. The owners' garden was available to appreciate and was absolutely gorgeous.

This is a beautiful, tranquil situation surrounded by an outstanding garden and private orchard. Close enough to Porlock that you can walk easily, far enough away to feel isolated.
The cottage is light , airy and very well equipped, with a very comfortable bed, and the gated courtyard is brilliant if you have a dog. Lovely views from both the lounge and the bedroom.
Help is always at hand if you need it.

We have taken full advantage of staycations in the last year or so and Coachman's Cottage is one of the very best.
A clean, comfortable property with character and fully-equipped, marvellous hosts, excellent location in beautiful landscape with easy access to sea and mountain and a variety of interest including Culborne Church, Dunkery Beacon, Doone Valley and Valley of the Rocks.

David, the host, was extremely friendly and helpful.
The cottage was perfect our dog as it had an enclosed courtyard ( a real suntrap for us) where the dog could runaround and a lovely orchard where she could run. The cottage was nicely furnished and well equipped with some items not expected - dishwasher and washing machine

The location of the cottage and out look was lovely able to see the sea from the cottage and the walks from the door totally impressed the locals friendly and plenty of dog friendly pubs and cafes this unspoilt corner of exmoor is just a delight .

Fabulous cottage and location. The owners very friendly and cottage beautifully furnished with every need anticipated! The walks from the doorstep are wonderful. We particularly enjoyed being shown around the garden by Nicky and also learning about the bees. We hope to return again soon.

The cottage had everything we needed. It was relaxing, comfortable and clean. We felt Covid safe, in the fact that, all the windows were open when we arrived to air the property. The owner’s property is near but we didn’t feel overlooked at all. The views are stunning and there are plenty of walks around the area. Plenty of places to eat out too. Only negative is we didn’t have long enough there! Will book with Best of Exmoor again!

Beautiful cottage-very warm, comfortable and well equipped. Great views, easy 10 minute walk into Porlock, and plenty of walks from the cottage.
David and Nicky were terrific hosts and we will be returning.

All lovely. Stairs rather awkward. Basically everything we needed although a small non stick milkpan would have been useful and maybe a few more pegs!. Courtyard and Orchard very peaceful with lovely views.
Our little dog loved it too. Good location for the weir and Porlock. Very clean and tidy. A beautiful garden to look out on.
10.0
the directions offered when we booked got us to the cottage without a problem. Lovely cottage, great views of the bay and owners garden. It was peaceful and the local pubs served great food.

This is a lovely cottage - very well and thoughtfully equipped. Although we didn't have very good weather when we stayed, we were very cosy. The location is perfect, very quiet with beautiful views but just a short walk into Porlock.
We hope to stay again very soon.

Could not find fault with this lovely cottage, our host was charming and very helpful. We stayed in January and were very cosy and and warm even at minus 3! Panoramic views out to sea and Wales, very quiet with access to the Coleridge Way through the owners orchard, giving access to many walks. Cannot recommend highly enough.

Well appointed property. Everything you need down to a torch. Very peaceful cottage, the owners couldn’t be more helpful and lots of wonderful walks from the door.

A delightful cottage set in beautiful surroundings. The gardens are wonderful and the orchard has fabulous views over Porlock Marshes, Hurlstone Point and Bossington Hill - great for catching the sunrise / sunset. The cottage is cosy, bright and very well equipped. The upstairs bedroom is very comfortable (best bed ever!) and has great views. There are plenty of walks straight from the cottage door with the added bonus of access to the Coleridge Way via their orchard. The owners are lovely and more than helpful if you need them. If you're looking for peace, quiet and comfort, this cottage is for you. Recognition to whomever is responsible for keeping the cottage clean - it's absolutely spotless. We had a wonderful week and have already booked for 2023 !

Amazing area. Lots to look at and fantastic walks. Roads are steep and narrow and its like being in different country.
Love it
This is the 3rd time we have been to the same cottage. Warm and very comfortable with a very good shower (over the bath). Easy place for dogs. High walled courtyard in front of the house, lovely to sit out in in the sunshine. Fantastic enclosed orchard that is well fenced and back access to off the road walks on Porlock hill ( not all of them steep) .
If you like nature then this is the place to come.
10.0
Lovely well equipped cottage in beautiful location , amazing views ,secure courtyard and added bonus of a lovely paddock (very popular with our Spaniel )behind the cottage which also has access to the Coleridge Way. 10 to 15 min walk into Porlock with many very dog friendly pubs and tea rooms. So many walks to choose from in area wether you want to drive or walk from your doorstep. Our third visit and will not our last .

This is a truly lovely cottage in a wonderful location. The view from the cottage windows is lovely and from the top of the orchard in the early morning is simply sensational. The cottage has every facility required and is thoughtfully set up to make a self catering, walking holiday in wet weather, with two dogs both relaxing and comfortable. We were warm, had gallons of hot water and drying out our wet clothing didn't cause us any stress. There is a hose to wash down dirty feet at the front door and a really practical entrance hall with masses of hooks to take clothing, dog leads, towels etc.
The owners are just next door but not at all intrusive. Very welcoming and clearly passionate about their lovely house, gardens and orchard. We had a guided tour and came home inspired to enlarge our borders in our own garden and to plant an apple tree. We would love to go back.

We really enjoyed our stay in Coachmans Cottage. David was more than happy to give suggestions of places to visit and nice walks from the back of the cottage into Porlock and Porlock Weir, aswell as paying an interest in our days. The house was in a lovely location and came with everything you could need included. We will definitely stay here again when we come back to Exmoor.

The Coachmans Cottage is an inspiration. To say that we enjoyed our stay here is an understatement. The location is glorious from the beautifully tended gardens to the orchards and woods beyond. My girlfriend and I had a lovely stay in David and Nicky's cottage. Lots of love has gone into this place, it's obvious either they've stayed in it themselves or they've listened very closely to feedback. David and Nicky were super nice and made sure we had what we needed. Very clean, incredibly well equipped kitchen, lots of heating options including central, floor in the bathroom and wood burner in the sitting room. Comfy bed with awesome view towards the sea. Well positioned near Porlock which is a nice village (we much preferred to the larger seaside towns) and lots of awesome walks nearby - all the ones in the booklet were great. The nearby area has lots of woodland which we preferred for walking to the other areas of Exmoor (which are still beautiful). Lastly if you don't have a dog (we don't) and aren't dog people (I'm not) then don't worry, there's absolutely no doggie smells and no barking nearby! In fact it's super quiet and we slept with the window open. Highly recommended!

The cottage is very special; cosy and welcoming, a home from home. The owners make you feel very welcome and invite you to share their orchard and enjoy their beautiful garden. The location is stunning and we look forward to visiting again and again etc!

Welcoming.
The best way to describe the house and the owners. A personal reception when we got there - and time to chat - made all the difference in this electronic 'virtual' age.
The cottage is a gem - warm, comfortable and excellently equipped. Plenty of room for us two and our large fluffy girl - she loved sitting in the yard watching the world go by. And the Orchard! What a beautiful space! A true labour of love. The view is exceptional - one to savour. I even had a swing!
The layout was perfect for coming in with damp dog, coats and boots. Felt like a proper home from home whilst still being treated by lovely surroundings and breathtaking outside spaces and views.
We can't wait to return.
Thank you.

A comfortable cottage in a fabulous location, ideal for younger couples. The owners were particularly helpful and friendly.

We stayed in Coachman's Cottage over Xmas and had a very happy time there. The whole place is very comfortable and very tastefully decorated. We did a lot of cooking there over the festive period and the kitchen was very well equipped. There was plenty of hot water, water pressure good from the shower and very efficient central heating. The addition of the log burner in the sitting room meant that we were never cold. The cottage is ideally situated for a walk to Porlock village or Porlock Weir and further afield. David and Nicky were both very helpful and approachable. We hope to return in sunnier weather to make the most of the local countryside.

Another wonderful fortnight in Coachman's Cottage - We keep coming back for a reason!
Beautiful location, with a never ending supply of walks straight from the door. A great selection of pubs and tea gardens and swimming in the sea on those hot August days.
Super friendly and helpful hosts David and Nicky.
Lovely simple, quiet cottage for two with it's own sunny courtyard, and access to a beautiful orchard for just sitting and enjoying the sunshine, quiet and the buzz of bees. Everything you need for a comfortable stay, and the hosts always willing to help you out should you have any issues.
Thanks once again for an absolutely great holiday!

This is a cosy, cumfy, beautiful cottage in lovely surrounding with gorgeous views. We were made very welcome by the owner. The orchard is interesting and a great place to sit. The location is brilliant with access to the Coleridge Way, also an easy walk to the village shops and pubs. The courtyard is pretty and sheltered. The night sky is dark which is wonderful for star gazing.
