Very modern, good location, lovely little lounge/bar area, well kept room and public areas, friendly and helpful staff.
We could have done with extra pillows but we didn’t actually ask the staff for these.

My night at Selina Birmingham was a delightful experience. The room exceeded expectations with its spacious layout, featuring individual pods equipped with a privacy curtain, personal light, and plug socket—perfect for privacy and convenience. The bed provided a comfortable night's sleep, and I was pleasantly surprised to have the entire room to myself during my stay. The hostel's location, conveniently situated next to a tram line, ensured quick and easy access to the city centre within minutes. Additionally, all amenities, including the attached bathroom's toilet and shower, worked seamlessly. While the unique perk of having a private room may not be guaranteed for every guest, my overall stay was marked by comfort, thoughtful design, and excellent accessibility.

Location was great. Walkable to everything, and close to tram stop.
Kitchen and common areas are in converted attic, making them inaccessible to guests who can't climb many flights of stairs. I wish they would have disclosed this somewhere. Staff were quite rude when I indicated I'd had a recent surgery on my legs that prevented me from being able to climb stairs, and couldn't get to kitchen, and needed to be able to eat in the first floor area. They told me to sit in the corner behind the bar, to be out of sight. Floors were sticky and there was trash and broken glass on the floor from the night before. Room guests are entirely ignored, only event guests and bar patrons are given the time of day. En suite bathroom was old and had some mold, light would not turn off. You could hear the noise and drink people shouting from outside patio ALL NIGHT LONG.

For the price, this is one of my favourite hotels and I would absolutely stay again. The location is a bit out of the area I normally stay in but was still in walking distance of the town centre and I reached absolutely everywhere with no issues at all and enjoyed myself. Checking in and checking out was very easy and they had other facilities on site that you can access.
The room itself was spacious and like a little studio which was really good for the price (although I only stayed for 1 night). The bed was comfortable and due to the space you had the option of sitting down to read, using the kitchen area etc so for two people, there were spaces you could go to in order to do your own thing rather than just sit in bed like in some hotels. It was a little cold (described below) but overall, a very good hotel and I enjoyed my stay there as it felt a little more upscale than some of the budget hotels I've stayed in within the city centre.
The only thing that let it down was the lack of central heating. I'm not sure if that was normal but it was December and the radiator didn't work, there were two small ones that we could plug in but due to the time of year it didn't distribute much heat around.

Friendly staff and the bed was relatively comfortable.
We had many issues with the room. The shower was often too cold to use (no way to adjust temperature), toilet seat was loose, broken curtain rail, not enough toilet paper, mould and damp. There was a couple having a loud argument in the hallway that kept is awake, it seems the staff didn't think to resolve this. Just generally all round awful experience. It's especially insulting given the price.

Close to Birmingham’s business centre, good location
The single/queen rooms are very small. Basically the size of the bed and the bathroom. Can be a dark and sketchy street during the night
