Convenient location for purpose of trip
Very tired looking- in need of some modernisation. Untouched since 1988 !

Excellent sized room
Very friendly staff
Plenty of tea and coffee and bottled water in the room
Very large and comfy bed
The decor was slightly old - wallpaper was coming away but this in no way impacted my stay
4.0
The room was big
The bed was uncomfortable and the decor and furnishings were very dated and worn. Hotel needs renovation, looks like it hasn't been updated for a few decades. Staff were fine, not great but not rude.

A very warm welcome to our scaffolding team who were attending to a job in Blackburn. Very nice hotel. Would use again.

Very clean and comfortable
Lovely staff
I was put in a room far away from the noise of a function going on in the main building which I really appreciated.
The lack of soundproofing - I could hear the conversation, toilet visit and “friendliness” of the couple next door through the night. They had been at the function - came back to their room very late.
Also. The curtains were on poles which look great but don’t keep the early morning light out. Some simple blinds would sort that problem.
The combination of noise from the next room and morning sun meant at most I had 4hrs sleep.

The bar/restaurant and outside area is really lovely...., we assume recently refurbished?? We noted the event area was sent up for prom and it looked lovely. We had dinner which everyone enjoyed, except me! Staff were so friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our breakfast. The room was clean, shower fabulous and bed very comfy. Nice size room to.
We felt our room could do with some care..., marked walls bit dated looking. Bathroom bit clinical/cold apart from that everything was fantastic.

This is one very tired looking and quite grubby hotel. The furnishings, decor, carpets etc etc are all very dated, lack lustre and in a serious need of an update/refresh!
Convenient distance to our event venue.

Breakfast and staff were lovely
Smelt very stale and bedrooms quite dated, bed was not comfy and the room kettle was very dirty and full of limescale.
Very overpriced but the location was nice.

Nice if you like the middle of nowhere. it had a large room with separate lounge. The swimming pool looked great in a separate building, but did not get to use it.
The wifi was rubbish. i needed to join a business meeting for a couple of hours, they tried to help by moving rooms closer to reception, i got a new key and walked in on occupants 2 doors down. Then the same happened again.
The room looked tired - broken tap, cracked wash hand basin, hard bed, old fashioned decor. Food was ok but very overpriced for dinner. We watched as a waitress cleaned the tables and service was called 3 times by the kitchen before either waitress moved - wrong priorities. The breakfast was good and efficiently delivered.
There was an smell of chip fat in the inside cold corridor between the hotel and restaurant building.

Breakfast was very good.
Bathroom very cold as towel rail not working and there was 2 lights out, one over the mirror and one in the ceiling.

not very clean

All good, club room a good size but because temperature dropped - probably for the first time this year! had a bit of an issue with the heating for the 1st night. Food was excellent and plentiful. Restaurant & bar really nice ambiance. Swimming pool amazingly warm and a reasonable size. Staff very friendly and helpful.
Keep your room key away from your mobile though as the phone can wipe the code out off the key!

Loved the side dressing room especially as we were staying to attend a wedding
Exterior door of the block we stayed in banged too & so noise heard in room when guests went in & out. Maybe a softer door closer would help as was main door into that block

Excellent hotel located close to Whalley Abbey where I was booked for the rest of the week on a spiritual retreat. Located in a rural, quiet location. The breakfast was very good. Very large room and bathroom plus a good sized dressing room. Lots of parking spaces with disabled ones close to the entrance which is a bonus.
On the downside, there are steps between the car park and the main entrance to consider, if you are disabled. Also further steps to one of the residential blocks where I was located. I would suggest you contact the hotel ane make sure you have a ground floor room if you have a physical disability.

The rooms had a fantastic layout and were very spacious! It was lovely to have a sitting area and small balcony and then a separate bedroom and bathroom. It gave the hotel a more homey feel. The staff were all friendly and check in and out was an easy and stress free process. The car park was large and the area was great for our needs! Overall fantastic value for money! We never used the bar or restaurant as we had other dinner plans but they looked to be modern with a good selection of food and drinks.
I would rate the breakfast as average overall. It didn't seem like fantastic value for money. I think it cost an extra £20 so worked out at around £10pp. The continental was nice and there was a good selection but the hot breakfast wasn't good. The food was all just sitting there on plates under hot lights for you to help yourself but I found most of the food has been sitting there sometime and was cold/luke warm. The staff brought round tea and coffee which was served from jugs but again this was only warm. I feel like it would have been better to have the hot food served per request so it was served hot and would also help with wastage. It would be beneficial to have a hot water boiler for guests to have access to for hot drinks so they could make their own. Overall not a fantastic experience but it wouldn't put us off staying again, we just wouldn't opt for the breakfast option.

The hotel really exceeded expectations. The room was an great size (club double room) with a huge bed, small table and chairs, desk, and separate dressing room. The bed and pillows were very comfy too!
Breakfast was fantastic selection and excellent quality, with both continental and hot choices. The evening menu looked good but we didn't have chance to try it.
Staff were friendly and welcoming and were able to get us a taxi when we struggled.
The pool was a lovely start to the day with attached sauna and steam room.
The pool changing rooms looking a bit run down, though pool itself was great
