Staff were lovely. Very pleasant. Food was great. Very fresh and cooked well. Rooms looked lovely when first entered. Big disparity between single room and double. The double was about 6 times the size of the single but the single room price was 2/3 that of the double.
The room hadn't been cleaned. The carpet and bathroom floor were covered in dust, dirt and bits. The kettle and other facilities were covered in a thick layer of dust. There was water still in the kettle. The bathroom was also not cleaned. Pillows were badly stained. Didn't dare look at the mattress. Shower was filthy. Bath and sink were OK. Face flannel hung on sink siderail directly over the toilet. No toilet roll provided. I don't think the rooms had been used in quite some time. The whole place needs a thorough deep clean. We sat at the same table in the restaurant for dinner and then for breakfast. The table and floor hadn't been cleaned for the next day. There was still a couple of dead flies on the shelf next to the table. Think they had been there for some time. The floors throughout were filthy. Carpets were stained everywhere. I think they battle to get staff who can do the cleaning properly. It would pay them to have a company in every couple of weeks or even once a month to deep clean. A shame as the place would be fantastic if it were clean.

The staff were excellent and the room was very clean
Nothing we didn’t like

The room was spacious and comfortable, the staff are amazing, Georgia (I think her name was) and the manager really went above and beyond, truly meant to be in the hospitality business. Breakfast was stunning, will definitely stay again when that way, highly recommend, Lou & Rich (stayed the 9th June 23).

Warm greeting on arrival and the offer of a free 'upgrade'. Shown to a tastefully decorated room of very good size with a settee as well as the bed. There was also a bathroom with shower over the bath. First impressions were great. The dinners we had that night and on our last evening were very good quality and the atmosphere was great. Our breakfasts were also of good quality. Staff were really friendly and helpful. We used the bus to get to Winchester which stops opposite for the outward journey and next to the pub on return and operates frequently. We could have used it to get to Romsey too if that hadn't been on the way home.
Some features of the room need urgent updating. The logistics of the room didn't quite work. While access was good it means that the road is very close to the front garden that gets the sun and the back area was shady. The menus were limited and the prices not cheap. Breakfast was notably limited in options offered; no continental or cereal apart from porridge.

Nice old pub in a pretty village on direct bus route to Winchester . Pleasant, helpful staff .
A shelf in the bathroom. Plumper pillows.

Location very good. Lovely village.
Breakfast very good.
Room was above the kitchen so quite noisy at times. Shower cubicle needs cleaning. Toilet a bit cramped.

The hotel is in a beautiful village. Most of the staff were friendly and attentive.
The bedroom was clean but dated. Bedding didn't smell to fresh. Shower floor was like walking on a sponge. It bounced that much. Wasn't told at check in how to get in to the hotel after midnight. Spent 20 minutes at the front door trying to get a key in a keyhole that it didn't fit. Decided to try other doors to the hotel and found a fit. Expressed our unhappiness to the member of staff that checked us out and he was very blasia and said we should have been told at check in. No apology or offer off compensation for the worry we had about being locked out for the night. Even tried to call the hotel but it is a call center. The front doorbell did not work. Was quite worried we would spend the night on the doorstep

nice restaurant downstairs, nice staff
room looked a little tired, there was an open bottle of shower gel in the shower and it wasn’t me that opened it and it made me a bit worried about whether it had been cleaned thoroughly.

The pub is a beautiful old country pub in a lovely tiny village. The dinner was delicious and the evening staff, especially Mandy could nit be more helpful and friendly.
Quality ingredients both at dinner and breakfast.
Unfortunately the rooms could do with a thorough clean and possible revamp. Mould in bathroom and badly cracked ceilings.
Could not shower due to scolding hot water. Paid £15 for breakfast- no milk for cereal, no fruit, no fruit juice, had to ask twice for pastries.

The food available in the restaurant was excellent, very tasty and a good choice on the menu, service was really good also, was really impressed at quality of food would definitely recommend, breakfast was also excellent

The countryside feel about the King’s Head.
All the staff Mark, Francisca and Kirsty were friendly.
All the meals were delicious and beautifully presented.
Our spacious bedroom with a HD TV to watch the Platinum Jubilee celebrations around the commonwealth.
Across the street in the park on the Thursday night the local community had gathered to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee and a large beacon was lit with the traditional speech!
Out stay was too short !

Convenient location for New Forest. Hursely itself is a calm, pretty, small town. The staff were all very helpful. The restaurant served pub food but all of good quality.
The beds were not particularly comfortable - ok for 1-2 nights but no more for us.
1.5
The pub and restaurant was excellent. Friendly, helpful staff, great atmosphere, beautiful location and delicious food. We had a fantastic evening meal.and breakfast. Faultless!
Our room was awful sadly. An extractor fan from the kitchen below ran all night long...constant buzzing so I was unable to sleep. The paintwork was peeling, there were cobwebs on the ceiling, and the room felt very neglected and not as clean as you would expect for the price.
3.5
Breakfast was good nice location pleasant staff
Bedhead was loose and made a noise each time you moved

Loved everything about it! The location is beautiful and only a 10 min drive into Winchester town. The pub and restaurant are excellent and the rooms are beautiful and boutique. Staff were also very friendly and attentive, not a single negative. The breakfast was fantastic.
