Ross was really helpfull, gave us a great advice about where to go for a day hike, cooked a meal for a dinner, breakfast was quite simple but good enough.
Had a good stay

Nice cosy & homely vibe
Not enough bathrooms

Great location
Ross the owner was so lovely and gave great suggestions for things to do both in the blue mountains and further out
Social hostel with an inclusive atmosphere
There weren’t enough toilets/showers for the amount of people staying (and we stayed in winter). Also the shower water pressure wasn’t very good.
The bedrooms were quite cold even with the heater.

The shared spaces were really friendly and inclusive.
The kitchen could be a little bigger.

Great vibe and cozy
The rooms get very very cold at night.

Great location, nice big room with comfortable bed and lots of pillows and blankets. I only stayed the one night so I didn't really socialise with any other guests, but they all seemed to be having an enjoyable time. I skipped out before breakfast the next morning.
My only complaint is that the shower was terrible, very low water pressure, it was not much better than a dribble.

The Flying Fox Hostel is a very good place to socialise. I loved that the hostel has an inviting community area where you can relax and have a nice chat with others.

this hostel is by far one of the coziest hostels on the east coast! Ross treats the people staying at his hostel so well with family dinners, mulled wine and great social time :) would def recommend!
the kitchen is a little too small

Ross and his staff were so friendly welcoming and really go the extra mile to make everyone happy. The breakfast exceeded our expectations and there was a free pasta night as well. We wanted to go to the Grand Canyon Walk but it seemed really difficult to get there on a Saturday by public transport. But Ross offered to help us and in the end he even drove us there by himself.
Another thing that stood out was that the whole hostel was exceptional clean.

Location is really close to the station in the middle of katoomba (but then you can hear the odd passing train in the night). The room was a decent size and clean, a big common lounge, kitchen and free breakfast.
Not enough bathrooms for everyone, there are only two bathrooms with one standalone toilet outside, so if anyone is showering that takes out a toilet so there was always a long queue just to use the bathroom, it was a real pain.
It was also really cold inside, there was just a small electric heater in the room that didn't really seem to do the job.

Had an amazing stay at this property and the host was very accommodating (thank you so much for driving me down to the falls on my last morning so I could fit them in before heading back to Sydney).
Really good breakfast and heard from other fellow travellers that the dinner on night two was good as well (I sadly missed this due to jetlag). Hopefully will get to stay again in the future.

Ross the owner of the place was super helpful and kind! First with the check in, then with activities and hiking advices, and lastly, he even gave me a ride (twice) to the train station! To top that all off, he even made pizzas for all the guests on a super cool eat & chill evening.
I booked the private room which was very specious, the bed was very comfortable.
Cool atmosphere, nice hanging out by the fire outside every night with the other guests.

Cozy atmosphere of the place. Room to move about and places to chill. Communication with reception great. Friendly place
Funky smell in the living/dining areas, but this is due to multiple different meals being cooked at once

i loved the energy of this place, laid back and a bit hippie. great board games like Catan and a cozy fireplace living area. the hostel is very
clean and well maintained. Ross the owner is a lovely man who will go out of his way to make sure you have an enjoyable stay. he’s above and beyond. the location was perfect, right by town and a grocers right next door. the train is only a few minutes walk away and there’s plenty of parking around. i felt right at home. ps. comfy beds! pps. outdoor fight pit &a lovely deck for yoga and sunsets!
i guess the only thing i didn’t like was the noise from the trains going by and a bit of traffic (i had the room closest to the road though). you get use to it though
