The location was remote and absolutely beautiful with stunning views of the mountains. There were horses in the pasture, sheep greeted us on the drive in and a mama bird was nesting on her eggs along the gravel road to the property. The neighbors had posted a stake in the ground to announce her presence and protect her from traffic. All this peace, yet we were very close to the main road and less than 5 minutes to the town of Hella where we picked up groceries and went out to dinner. Svetlana and her husband are absolutely lovely people. She had a Ukrainian speciality waiting for us on the table in the kitchen when we arrived, a plateful of the most delicious treats- like a cross between an American pancake and love. She offered to show us how to make this on the morning we checked out, bringing us into her kitchen and sending us on our way with a plateful of warm goodies and great stories we will remember. Her husband was equally charming and we would love to have talked to both of them for days. If you love dogs, be sure to ask to meet Stella. She's a good girl!
I cannot think of anything. We had a wonderful experience and hope to return on our next trip to Iceland!

Warm welcome. All you need to feel at home - from the slippers to the cooking necessities. Highly recommended. We received very good advice about our journey and were sent with takeaway home made pancakes.
Everything was perfect.

Great location, Svitlana and her husband were delightful and so friendly. We all loved their dog! Very comfortable beds and well equipped kitchen. Svitlana made us some amazing pancakes on arrival and they were some of the best pancakes I’ve ever had. We would definitely stay here again!
Problem with the drainage system which was quite an awful smell at one point. We were made aware of this but it needs fixing asap. Otherwise it was a lovely stay

We had an amazing 4 nights at Guest House Svetlana, and it was the perfect location for us to explore some different areas of Iceland that we had not previously visited. The property was perfect in every way, and we were very sad to leave, as felt so at home. Svetlana and her husband were such amazing hosts and always went above and beyond. The kids loved playing with Stella (their dog), and we will 100% be back to visit again in the summer :)

Great for viewing the northern lights. very costly. Host was super helpful and suggested some fab tourist locations we didn’t have on our list.
it is a cost stay, not a modern place

Svetlana's place was a great comfortable place near Hella, on a beautiful farm. Svetlana was in Reykjavik the day we arrived so we received a warm welcome from her son. The apartment was moderately sized and very clean. It had everything we needed to make a good meal for a single-night stay. We were mesmerized by the sunset view from the apartment when we arrived. Svetlana's son was so kind to knock on our door near midnight when there were some northern lights outside!
Everything was great!

Svetlana, her husband and dog (Stella) were fantastic hosts! Helped get us set up in our room, provided ample directions and courteously excused themselves. While off the beaten track, my family liked being in farm country and waking up to the wide-open scenery. Svetlana has decorated the apartment with some nice touches -- not a sterile place like some rentals. The kids loved playing catch with the dog, Stella.
It was perfect!
