About this cabin rental
Official website. When Granma was 95, we had to move her in with us to take care of her. This left her little panabode cabin (900 square feet with a 500 square-foot wrap-around lanai) vacant. Lucky you . . . you can spend your Hawaiian vacation in this beautiful, quiet, and centrally located cabin which has just about everything.
There is a complete kitchen, a bath with tub and shower, a washer/dryer, a living/dining room, and a cable TV . There is also a big gas barbecue, and birds for a morning alarm clock. We even left all the little nick knacks in place to make this is truly a 'home-away-from-home'.
The home is backed by a herb farm and macadamia nut orchard. It is surrounded by mac nuts, lychee, and mango, avocado, and citrus trees. If anything is in season during your stay, you are welcome to enjoy it.
The big island of Hawaii is almost 200 miles around.
As you tour the island and along the Kona Coast you can see cattle ranches, rain forests, lava fields, volcanoes, snowcapped mountains in the winter, beaches, and spectacular valleys and waterfalls.
Our cabin is located in one of the most temperate places on earth. We have over 300 excellent days a year. All of our prior guests have raved about their stay, and have vowed to come back. The Big Island has something for everyone.

Harry helped us adjust our stay due to last minute vacation changes, he was great! Generous host who is clearly an honest man who cares about his guests. Thanks Harry.
If we find our way back to your island we will most certainly be reaching out to you.

My sister and I stayed for nearly one week; all amenities were fantastic and the location was perfect for activities in and around Kailua-Kona and the Kohala Coastline. The Ohana was neat and clean and had everything one would need during a trip to the Big Island. Enjoy the taste of older Hawaii at its finest. Mahalo, Harry!

I have rent 3 different vacation cabins in Hawaii, one in Oahu, one in Maui and this one in Big Island. All of them are 5 stars, but Granma's Cabin is the best among them. Harry is very nice and helpful, and it felt like we were really at home. I'll definitely stay here again when I visit Big Island in the future.

Excellent cozy cabin to retreat to after a long day on the beach. Super hosts!

This cabin is located in a very nice neighborhood. Plenty of space inside, great ocean view from the deck. Lots of beach items available for guests.
Harry, the owner, is very responsive. The tour he gave at the beginning of our stay was very helpful.
We would gladly stay here again.

What a fantastic place and great host! We needed a low-key place for a girls' long weekend to rest and recharge. Harry, our host, was in communication before our arrival and even let us know the property was ready early! When we arrived, he was there to greet us. He showed us around the property and shared all the details and resources. It felt like we were at home, literally. Being in a quiet neighborhood was so essential for us to. Everything was so clean. We enjoyed the deck as this was a time to relax and unwind. So many at-home conveniences too! We will be back.

Love the wrap around porch with gorgeous views of sunsets overlooking the ocean. Love the free macadamia nuts and avocados harvested from the grounds. Host couldn’t be nicer. Lots of amenities like beach chairs snorkeling equipment boogie boards etc. kitchen was equipped down to the last tea strainer. Lots of room for three people. Great place.

My husband and I had a wonderful, relaxing six day vacation in "Granma's Cabin." Our host, Harry, did a great job making us feel welcome and setting us up for an excellent stay: he met us when we arrived and toured us all around the cabin to show us how things worked and where things were kept. (This saved us a lot of time rifling through drawers later in the trip.) After that, though, we had the place totally to ourselves -- it felt very private!
The cabin has everything you'll need for a relaxing vacation, from a fully stocked kitchen (including some pantry staples) to spare snorkels and fins. Harry had recently roasted some macadamia nuts from the tree on his property, and showed us how to use the nut opener when we arrived -- an unexpected and delightful amenity! (He also gave us a couple of amazing avocados to get our trip off to a great start.) We loved being able to cook for ourselves and relax at our home-away-from-home when we weren't exploring the forests and beaches of the Big Island.
The location is excellent, convenient to the airport and not far from the main town of Kailua-Kona. The cabin is also just a few minutes down the road from the Matsuyama Food Mart, which has an affordable and tasty deli/restaurant in addition to stocking all the grocery essentials you might need.
We had a wonderful time and hope to return to Granma's Cabin the next time we are on the Big Island. Thanks for a great stay!

Harry is very accommodating delivering fresh avocados and papayas to your deck. The cabin has everything you need and more. Very spacious with a large wrap around deck. Convenient cooler location on the hill. Quick and easy to get to many sites.
Highly recommend for a peaceful time in paradise!

We had a delightful stay at the lovely Granny's Cabin! The place had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Mornings were especially wonderful, enjoying breakfast on the terrace with the serene sea as our backdrop and the cheerful songs of birds. Henry was exceptionally kind, taking the time to explain everything about the house. His generosity with the delicious avocados, papayas, and macadamia nuts was much appreciated. Thank you for such a memorable experience!

We LOVED our stay at the cabin. It was private, clean, quiet, peaceful, and had the most beautiful sunsets. It was close to the airport and a quick drive to amazing beaches and anything you might need. My kids spent hours watching geckos. We hope to be be back next year. The hosts are great!

We loved our stay in the cabin. So well stocked and maintained! The lanai was our favourite spot, visiting the geckos and watching the birds. Awesome!

We loved our time with Harry. My partner just loved the lanai and how welcoming the space is. They had everything you could need and more. Thank you Harry for hosting Frankie and me. Mahalo and we hope to see you again on our next trip over as we plan our new life on the BI!

This was a beautiful cabin with an amazing view! We had more than we expected available to us. Our hosts, Harry and Deb, we're very helpful upon check-in and responded to questions quickly. Otherwise they made themselves scarce and we enjoyed our stay very much. Extra things available like beach chairs, coolers, beach umbrella, made this day that much more comfortable. I hope to get back to Hawaii some day, and if I do I'll have my eye out for Grandma's Cabin!

Granma’s cabin was the perfect base for our family while we explored the Kona coast. The beautiful location up on the hill was cooler and quieter than in Kailua-Kona itself. The house was very well stocked and comfortable. Harry was very responsive and friendly. We highly recommend!

Stayed here with my *wife* on our honey moon. Place has everything you could imagine, and Harry was very responsive. He provided fresh mangos (best I’ve had) and macadamia nuts with a nut cracker! Also gave us great suggestions for places to see provided coupons for a local restaurant. Porch was a beautiful place to watch sunset.
Will definitely stay here again.

We enjoyed the atea of this property. Lots of foliage with a sunset view.

It is charming and that is the reason why we keep returning!

I loved staying here. The cabin is spacious and welcoming, set in the midst of the owner's fabulous blooming plants and on a hill overlooking the ocean below. A peaceful spot far enough from the touristy town of Kona, yet an easy drive to anywhere on the west side of the island. The kitchen is stocked with anything you might need, and Harry is promptly available if you have questions about anything. Very highly recommended.

Harry's place is exquisite to say the least. The cabin is very well appointed, everything you could possibly need to make your stay cozy. The lanai and the loungers are definitely hard to leave! The sounds of the birds in through the day and little geckos we're so enjoyable. I am already planning my next trip to stay here! Not to be missed!

This was our 5th stay at Granma's cabin. Harry and Deb welcomed us to our "home away from home" - it was wonderful to see them both again.
There are 4 ratings from our previous stays - all with equally glowing reviews. We appreciate all aspects of this lovely cabin - the location, the amenities (lanai, washer dryer, barbecue), and the hosts. The temperature is perfect both day and night and the bed is very comfortable.
Harry and Deb work hard maintaining their property. There is lovely foliage and flowers that attract butterflies and birds (finches, cardinals and doves). We love watching the birds at teh bird feeder while having breakfast on the lanai. It is very beautiful and relaxing. We will be returning in 2024.

My friend and I stayed here and very much enjoyed it. Harry made sure to have everything you need whether you're staying in or going out. Harry also replied quickly and kept in contact with us even though we booked it many months ahead of the time we needed.
I'd definitely stay here again if I'm lucky enough to explore Kona again.

My cousin and her significant other were the guests for the week as our plans changed. Harry was incredibly accommodating and helped us navigate this change. They had a wonderful time and relayed to us that it was peaceful, restful, and relaxing. A beautiful and comfortable cottage. Harry was the best host.
Thank you Harry, for making their stay so memorable. We all appreciate you!

This is a magical place, in part because of location/view/property amenities, and in part because of the host’s outstanding hospitality. This is the best VRBO experience we’ve ever had…and we’ve traveled a lot!

Harry was a congenial host, greeted us warmly and showed us this wonderful cottage. Beautiful view of the sunset from the porch every evening. Breezes blowing. Flowers and birds are lovely. Very comfortable. Kitchen well set up. Simply the best place to relax and enjoy the island.

We had everything we needed at our fingertips from beach gear to laundry soap. We used the kitchen daily and enjoyed eating on the large lanai either watching the ocean or the sunset. The cabin had a rustic feel. The beaches and Kona weren't too far way.
4.9
This lovely cabin was exceptionally well stocked with lots of extras like beach towels, yoga mats, mask, snorkel, aqua socks, beach mats, coolers, umbrellas, etc. Located in a quiet older neighborhood away from the tourist strip but with easy access to beaches, grocery stores and restaurants. Will plan to book this sweet spot again next time we come to Kona.

It was absolutely fabulous. The host is an incredible man. He was so helpful. The house is beautiful. The pictures of it are exactly what to expect. The view was excellent. We are sorry to leave. It is close to the airport which helped us.

On top of the amazing views and comfortable rooms and value, what sets this cabin apart from other vacation rentals is how well thought out everything is. There is a place for everything and everything you could possibly need, and sensible touches everywhere. Also it was bigger and more beautiful than I was expecting, clearly well cared for. The wraparound lanai is our favorite —sit outside for hours birding, reading, watching the sun set or having dinner. Such a thoughtful host and place to stay.
